I did that in HS. I've been lucky to escape insomnia since then, though.

GDT Colorado Avs vs Buffalo Sabres 10-11-2018 at 7pm
Randall Flagg replied to jsb's topic in The Aud Club
Larry could be better than Elie and is almost certainly above him (and behind Sobotka, who will take Larsson's place when healthy) on the depth chart, which is fine. I don't really want him in the lineup either, which sucks because I think he had a chance at being a nice player before his arm blew up. He hasn't been able to shoot or handle the puck or pass since. So in general, I think Larry is the 13th forward and since we have an injury, he's the 12th. Later on in the season, if Nylander/Asplund are dominating, they'll be in the lineup and guys like Larry pushed further away. -
Look at the date on the posts. May 16th. Hockey was still happening. The time for trades, signings, and the draft was still over a month away. The Sabres ended up adding about ten NHL players in the offseason when it was actually time to do so. That they actually started making roster moves in May was quite frankly a bonus. Especially adding the defenseman of the year in the SHL to the organization for nothing but money. Pi doing that would be like my sister kicking and screaming that she didn't get any Christmas presents...on October 23rd. It was so bizarre that it stuck in my memory and was easy to go find again

It sounds like Dylan Strome had a helluva game tonight, was driving play like he never has. I hope he turns into something special for them.

You were literally pissed that we signed him Like, actively angry that he was given a contract by us

Interesting thoughts. Mario's 2014 season in particular is one that I"ll remember for a long time.
-
I thought Elie was pretty bad against Vegas after looking pretty good against NYR. It can be argued that Larsson was a bottom 3 regular forward in the entire NHL last year, though, so it's an interesting discussion to have when we have that potential information for one player but nothing of note for the other player

The mixtures of emotion that reading this on sabrespace while in the physics office gave me are quite entertaining

The rookie QB's best game was when shady was in street clothes but the points are fair. tangent, but is Tre White our best current player? I think he could be.
-
My first season watching was 2005. What glaring names am I missing? Thanks. Since I was 10-13 in the stretch he was here, the nuances of the offensive tackle position escaped my awareness.

Right, what I'm saying is, why is it likely that their offense would but their defense wouldn't? With the same defensive players, they were 15th in the NHL in goals allowed last year, and still top 2 in ES goals scored. If anything, it's more likely that their goals allowed becomes a more reasonable number, but they remain elite at scoring.
-
This isn't saying much, considering that his scoring rate could significantly decrease and still win him dozens of harts, art rosses, and richard trophies. We try, but there's no way to "feel good" about what is going on with Matthews and the Leafs right now, unless you truly believe that their offense is likely to stagnate but their defense is unlikely to allow fewer goals The problem is, guys like Kapanen are sliding up into those roles and have a good chance at just being better, faster, smarter players than JVR/Bozak.

This season, due to many things outside of his control, he hasn't been effective. I don't mean for that to extend to the past. He's probably, what, the second best Bills player I've ever seen? How good was Peters when he was here? And Mario at his peak.
-
They're probably 3-1-0 since, in this exact situation you describe, last season, they had the best or second-best regular season in their franchise history, eh? If we were faced with that exact same "problem" this board would be completely drunk off of success and happier than it's ever been since its inception.

Can Matthews be offer-sheeted this coming offseason? I believe so, but just making sure. Because I had a dream that Arizona gave him a max offer sheet this coming summer and it was a nice dream
-
Pretty sure he and his line have been caved in when they're out there so far this year. He looks a lot like he did in St. Louis - not quiiiite ready to be a useful NHLer. Still young and will be fine
-
My one concern wouldn't be the football quality, which has been historically bad with him, it would be what Aud mentions about the locker room.
-
I've been wrong about things far more than I've been right, so I feel no shame in gloating, but I totally remember being the first to jump on the "hey the Leafs rebuild is way ahead of us" bandwagon and everyone here haaaaaaaaating that idea

Unfair representation, I don't think McCoy is helping us win now to any meaningful degree over his replacements
-
I also would like to say that the parameters I quoted are the ones I'm okay with - if we dump him for a 6th i'll be pretty mad
-
I do use the term trash quite loosely in general, but McCoy was indistinguishable from any other RB in every game up to Tennessee, all of the performances from all of them pathetic, and yes, mostly because of the stacked boxes/offensive line play. But regardless of why McCoy's production is/was nonexistent, it was. If it's McCoy being worse than ever (he is, because of age, though still probably decent) or if it's our line being awful, neither of those will change this year if they are the reason, and so that's why I'd be cool with a haul like that for him, when as far as I can tell for this season on balance Murphy/Ivory will be functionally identical to McCoy/Ivory (In the first 3 weeks, Murphy legitimately looked as good as Shady's few touches)
