  1. No it wouldn't. But it is a buyers market. I know when I was looking for a new employee about 6 months ago an add would generate hundreds of responses. Our HR dept was not going to ackowledge all those responders. The only ones acknowledged were the ones brought in for interview.

    This is very true.

On another issue, Weave. How are things going with your exchange student? I hope all is good and this will not lead to another complaint post on your part.

Aye. I just wish I knew if the time I was spending sending people resumes was going to good use.

It's not a complete waste of time, but you really should focus more on developing and tapping into your network of friends, family ... The job market is now "hidden" and usually it will take a string of 4 or 5 contacts before someone down the line will hit on something. You contact a person, who will (hopefully) contact a person, who will contact someone else, who will ...

  2. Bump ...

    Where to begin?

Firstly, I will apologize for lack of complaint in my post last Thursday.

    Anyway ...

1.) The Canadian (Mens) National Football Team ... look like a quality side one night and then toss a big steaming turd 4 days later.

2.) The NHL and the NHLPA ... what a joke.

3.) The price of gas. Almost $1.40 / litre = about $5.60 / US gallon.

4.) With winter coming the price of home heating oil. When we came to NS 14 years ago it was about $0.25 / litre now it's about $1.10 / litre. Looks to be another long and cold winter ... inside the house that is.

5.) The price of coffee ...

Nuff said. Is that better, guys?

  3. Team Canada defeated Panama 1 - 0 in a good match on Friday in Toronto. The fans at BMO Field were in top form, including the Womens National Team, fresh off their Olympic Bronze Medal ... :censored: FIFA.

The goal was a beaut and Canada now has a very good chance of advancing to the final round of qualifying matches for WC Brazil 2014.

The rematch is Tuesday in Panama City. A win for Canada would all but guarantee their spot in the next round.

    Go Canada!

  4. The Canadian Mens National Team has been boosted with some veterans for a crucial 2 game set against Panama in WC 2014 qualifying.

The first match is set for BMO Field in Toronto on Friday (the place will be rocking), followed by a tilt in Panama City next Tuesday.

These sides sit 1 - 2 (Panama leads by two points over Canada) in their Group and these two matches are huge to both sides, as both are looking good to advance to the final Group Qualifying Stage for WC 2014.

    Go Canada!

  5. Aren't coyotes pretty much everywhere?

They are even here in NS.

Not right where we are, but are in other neighbourhoods in the suburbs of Halifax. And have been spotted in Point Pleasant Park, right at the tip of the Halifax Peninsula.

    +++++

Labour Day weekend is awesome. Weather has cooled down and is less humid ... perfect to try to finish up our deck. So, I will continue my hard labour this Labour Day Monday.

  6. Some people spoil their second chances.

Wasn't that guy on his third, or fourth, incarnation ... seems like even if he has an infinite number of chances he'd spoil them all.

    +++++

    Another awesome thing ...

Toshiba portable hard disk drives. 500 GB (I don't like them any larger than that ... they seem to run slowly when larger than 500 GB). A great way to back up huge systems and data for my clients and my own firm.

  7. I'm moved into my dorm. I live in Montreal now. I can drink legally now. My single is significantly larger than everybody else's in this building.

    Congrats. Remember everything in moderation.

    +++++

Fantastic = the end of August, Labour Day weekend, the rug-rats back to school (not to mention our friends who are teachers, or work in education in some capacity, who can't shut up about having the summer off), Fall, with cooler and less humid days and last, but by-no-means least ... our new Imam and his family ... going to the Mosque for prayer, especially on Friday, is enjoyable once again.

  8. We belong to a CSA (aka farm co-op). Todays pickup overloaded us with summer squash, zucchini, and eggplant. Again.

Tonights dinner choice was easy. Ratatouille. Gotta get rid of all those veggies somehow.

Served with a side of dry aged NY strip of course!

So do we. Can't wait till Wednesday ... delivery day.

Your haul sounds dreamy, as was how you dealt with it, except for the NY strip.

  9. Finally had to put my dog to sleep on Tuesday morning. He'd been getting worse and showing signs of discomfort, in addition to having more difficulty being alone all day while I was at work. Kirby was born to two existing family pets when I was 15 and has lived with me for the last 6 1/2 years, so he'd been around for more than half of my life. Now the house feels horribly empty and there's a huge void in my heart and in all my daily routines that no longer apply. Easily one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. RIP, Kirby. (1995-2012)

    Bio,

I am so sorry for your loss. While our beloved Sam (cat) passed away at home with her mom and dad at her side, I know and understand your pain.

I agree with GoDD, if the world had more loving and caring people like you we would all be better off.

It will take some time to grieve your beloved Kirby. I hope that in time you will be able to love again and when the time is right another dog enters your life. It would be a shame for a caring person such as yourself not to love again.

Not to sound like a religious nutbar, but as part of my faith I believe that we are all God's creation and believe that Kirby is in a far better place and is no longer in any sort of discomfort or with ailments of any kind. I also believe that you and Kirby will be reunited one day.

Take care and I will keep you and Kirby in my thoughts and prayers.

  10. flying to georgia tomorrow to find my new house/condo... first time I will have no roomie and can pick exactly what I want. Living by yourself fully supported in a swanky bachelor pad, is awesome

Late to this party due to my Ramadan fast of SabreSpace.

Congratulations. Looks like things have turned for the better for you.

Be prepared to write a big fat cheque ... .

  11. Yesterday after Eid Prayers we met two wonderful couples that came to Halifax from Bosnia.

One of them invited us over for lunch ... glad to see the great Bosnian hospitality does not go away when people leave.

Bosnian coffee (my first in a month) and homemade cakes first, of course. Then Bosnian burek or "pita" ...

Then lamb, veal and veggies "under the bell", or sac. Oh, my!! ...

We spent about 10 hours with these people and their family.

    I love Eid!!

  12. The Islamic month of Ramadan, which starts at sunset today. This month is a wonderful way for a Muslim to re-focus and evaluate.

The first day of fasting is tomorrow. As part of my fast during this Holy month I fast from all non-essential Internet and Bosnian coffee. Not only for the fasting period of true dawn to sunset, but the entire day for the entire month.

Therefore, I will see you all when Ramadan ends at sunset on Friday, August 17, 2012.

I dare say some members would say that my fasting from SabreSpace is awesome.

Due to the timing of the moon phases Ramadan ended up being 30 days this year and ended at sunset yesterday.

Another awesome thing ... Eid al Fitr. The three day celebration at the end of Ramadan. A great time to be with family and friends.

Well, see you then! Hope you have a wonderful Ramadan!

Just think, next time we see you, we'll be less than two months away from hockey! (barring a....lockout....)

Thank you. It was. The fasting was difficult at times due to the heat and humidity, but that made it more enriching. Since Allah knows everything, I will admit that I cheated a few times on the hottest days. I will make up for it during this month, as the fasting is not to bring hardship.

You had to go and say it before I got the chance. :censored:

    ...

  14. Is anyone super interested in seeing Brazil in the Olympic tournament?

On the men's side...This is their last international against European teams before hosting the World Cup. I assume it is really important for them to have some momentum going into 2014 and this is the last chance (other than Copa America 2013).

On the women's side...Oh boy. Marta and the rest of the ladies have to be itching for a Gold medal. They NEED A win Internationally.

I'm hoping Abby and the girls relegate them to the lesser pedastals again :flirt:

Brazil will be tough in the upcomig Olympic tournament.

Just like in the recent Euro tournament, if I were a betting man, my last $ would go on Spain to win Olympic gold.
