  1. I am part of a small business owner networking group. As it turns out it is me and one other that meet regularly, the others are hit and miss. We meet each Friday morning, unless something comes up that is unavoidable.

Last week the other person cancelled our meeting as they were not feeling well.

This week I was working on a project for a client and the report was due next week. They just called me to see if they could have the report by tomorrow evening, as they were meeting with people over the weekend to discuss. No problem. So, I just called my colleague to explain the situation and to postpone our meeting for tomorrow, as I will be chained to my desk.

Long ramble to my complaint ...

... my friend sounded deathly ill on the phone when I called to postpone our meeting, but they were not about to call to postpone. "I feel fine" and then she just about barfed from the caughing fit that ensued after saying just those 3 words.

    Keep your germs to yourself!

  2. Well 'Becks' is going out of MLS football on top ...

And it seems that the best player the US has ever produced, IMO, is contemplating retirement as well.

Say it isn't so Landon, at least not until you lead the States into Brazil in 2014. Please make a good showing at that WC and then retire, if you want.

Two more goals for Messi ...

One more and the calendar year goal scoring record is tied.

Looks like only a matter of time until that record, which has stood since 1972, broken.

  3. I got to see my girlfriend for Thanksgiving but it was only a short three days. Long distance sucks.

But, what about that whole 'absence makes the heart grow fonder' BS?

When my wife and I were 'dating' she lived in Montreal and I in Toronto. I tell you we knew every inch of that 500+ KM stretch of the Trans-Canada Highway between those cities. Made for some great long weekends, though.

Sucking for long distances is never optimal. Thanks for giving.

    :w00t: ...

... and I'm not completely sure why.

  4. Bump ...

I have been sitting on this for a while now.

I am like George Constanza and completely without speach on this one ...

    http://edition.cnn.com/2012/11/20/world/meast/paris-hilton-store-mecca/index.html?hpt=imi_bn2

... well, you know me, I'm not really without speach so here goes.

1.) For all there BS about hating Western Society these Saudis really like there fancy Western trapings.

2.) For a society that belittles (which the Qur'an strictly forbids, I might add) women so much that it is state policy for women to stay indoors unless completely covered from head to toe and accompanied by a senior male member of their family (husband, brother, father ...) this seems rather hypocritical. If women actually venture out on their own (usually only royals) they have to wear a tracing devise similar to prisioners on day passes, or parole.

3.) This is her fourth store in Saudi Arabia and first in the most Holy city in Islam ... Mecca.

4.) Saudi Arabia was simply known as Arabia down through the ages. That is until the head of the Al-Saud family decided that he wanted his own Kingdom and decided his family were royals (which, again I will add, is strictly forbiden in the Qur'an ... clearly a case of idolatry and has the implication that someone is better than any other one). The county at that time became Saudi Arabia.

5.) No person can enter Mecca without showing documentation that they are indeed a Muslim. What a joke. There is no formal ceremony and no documentation. To become a Muslim all one has to do, with conviction in their heart and mind, is to state that they bare witness that there is no God, but God, and that Muhamed is a messenger of God. It can and is usually done alone in ones home. It is between an individual and God. Some do a ceremonial Shahadah with friends and family at a mosque, but it is not required. Not to derail my own post, but I doubt Ms. Hilton could even go to her store in Mecca. And if she could prove that she is a Muslim, then she would not be able to enter Mecca not in the company of her husband, father or brother.

I really think the Prophet (PBUH) passed away far too soon. His work was not complete. This is the exact same type of behaviour that Allah decided to send another messenger about. Over 1400 years later NOTHING has changed. Allah is likely very displeased. We are all in trouble.

There. That's my complaint for this day, week, month, year ...

We now return you to your regularly scheduled Complaint Thursday thread.

  5. Congrats Argos.

It was a rather one sided affair.

A good game all round for the 'home' team.

I don't follow the CFL much anymore, but Toronto is my home town. Glad they won.

I hate everything about Calgary, except for the fact that my one non-whack-job family member (cousin) and his non-whack-job family live there.

  6. I believe there are a few Chelsea supporters on board here. Hello, Yuri.

    Just wow!

Things are really in a sorry state at Chelsea, after a few short months from glorious times.

Looks like only a matter of time before Messi breaks the calendar year goal scoring record.

He's on 80 with 6 Barca matches left to score 6 goals to break the record. Should not be a problem for this magical footballer.

    http://edition.cnn.c...html?hpt=ifo_t1

True to his team first attitude he is more concerned with winning matches.

I wonder if he can skate and knows how to hold a hockey stick? The Sabres could use his attitude and approach.

  7. Interesting writeup on Ibrahimovic.

    http://worldsport.blogs.cnn.com/2012/11/15/will-the-real-zlatan-ibrahimovic-please-stand-up/?hpt=isp_r1

While his goal against England was spectacular, best ever? Probably not.

One of the comments to the linked article does a good analysis of why not. Included in that reasoning is the fact that it occured in the later stages of a 3 - 0 (at the time of Zlatan's 4th goal) friendly match.
