GAME DISCUSSION THREAD GDT: Buffalo at Boston 4-12-14 at 12:30 PM EDT

textbook hit. -
I've heard plenty. Scouts are very impressed with his two-way game. Most think he can make the jump to the NHL next year because of it. I also like the idea that he's Paul Reinhart's kid. (not that it is a reason to choose him over someone else, as a fan I just like it). Reinhart was a guy that could have played any position on the ice on any line in any situation. Center, Wing, D. He was practically the perfect player. I think I remember Harry Neale calling him a Swiss army knife. Those 80's Calgary teams were fun to watch.

arent' they (London) hosting the Memorial? He still has hockey left.

I'm not one to usually glean much from a presser with a coach. Sure they can shed light on injuries in a binary way. But most of what they have to say is said with shift time, line changes, and systems. But having said that, Nolan really can't say much with the roster he's given; Scott gets a semi-regular shift. That pretty much says it all. -

Refreshing? The team is beyond window dressing. There is nothing to embellish. I'm starting to wonder if Teddy gets any respect from the officials either, the players certainly don't. Not that rookies ever get the benefit of many calls. -
yep. Giving a few vets a place to park until the next market opens isn't a bad idea. Teams with kids need veterans, they learn more from the vets than the coaches. The more veteran partners a young player has in his career, especially on D, the better they will become.

Toronto is much farther away in my opinion. That's a team not built for 82 games or the tight checking of a playoff run. They lack depth, they lack prospects, they lack a 200 ft. game, they lack a defense, they have one guy that can win a faceoff. Seriously flawed team in my opinion. Toronto needs to be somewhere between rebuild and retool. They are more than one or two players away from being a contender.

Did Ennis catch Paille before he fell to the ice again? That's what it looked like to me. -
Sabres' Goalies = Spinal Tap Drummers

Nice to see that McCabe's instinct is to stand somebody up. That's my only take-away today. -
Not Coke, Pepsi!! Can we not build a team with the best skaters at the wing this time around.

It is pretty clear that the league doesn't want Scott in the league. -
With the contract limit. Sabres will have to trim somewhere, especially if they want to start tendering youngsters with all those picks.
-
Thanks, pal. It does. I pretty much started a week early though. My rationalization is that the entirety of this season was lent enough.
-
Shanny alternate governor of the Leafs. Hmmm? That's one team that i think is farther from the cup than Buffalo.
-
I guess that's what losing the interim tag means. You get to pick your staff. Fair enough. I'm fine with Ted as coach as long as the Sabres are team of AHL third liners. Do I think he has the head to match wits with Babcock and Quineville? Well at this point that hardly matters....On the chessboard Nolan only has pawns, the better coaches have major pieces.
-
The game changes in the first round. St. Louis gets through in the first round. Sometimes surviving the first round is the most important part. They are still a deep team.
-
I think all three will be in.
-
Teams take liberties with the Sabres not because they are soft, but because they can't score. No worries running a few guys if they can't convert their PP opportunities. If you can't convert a 5-3 ...........not only does your goalie get run, everyone gets run.

Quintal. Wow. I think he fought all the heavyweights at one time or another. Big boy that always looked like he was twelve if I remember.

Only matched by the ugliness of Penn State's Cranial Buckets. -
