  1. Don't we need a clean shaven Sutherland now?
  2. That should be a homecoming for him, of sorts. Though I still think of him as a Leaf.
  3. Fair enough. I get the misery. But Stanley Cup or no, the reality is that the Sabres will have to raise prices year on year as long as there is outstanding demand. Or at least that's the spirit of their labor agreement that the owners and players negotiated through lockout.
  4. So what about the players? Like it or not, the players, the owners' partners, own 50% of that ticket revenue. Owners can't keep prices artificially low because doing so would be circumventing their labor agreement.
  5. Presumably where the vomit lands.
  6. With the CBA and HRR the team has good faith obligation to get fair market value for its tickets for the players. With season tickets at 16,000 and sold out, a somewhat above average high school student could show on a chalk board that prices are below equilibrium with given demand. The Sabres solution is somewhat ingenious - raise ticket prices, qualify for revenue sharing, and give the money back. Noboby likes a price hike, but something other than greed and arrogance is going on here.
  7. Wait...the man that got rid of Darcy, Lindy and Ryan. This guy is doing everything you wanted as a phantom GM. :P
  8. Dumont settled permanently in Nashville and coaches kids? how very cool.
  9. 37 Million in tax breaks for a something that might bring over 50 million in tax revenue over 10 years. There are worse deals. 5 decades we've seen Buffalo sit on its hands....so finally something to point to. I'm not cynical yet. Points per season...who knows? But it will certainly be part of the downtown, Sabres, and the game-day experiences of thousands. I would dispute the percentages, but I see nothing wrong with any of those things. I certainly hope it makes money. But thanks for answering the question. (I mean that, I was just curious).
  10. Good question. Some of us have already transcended into the coming singularity. You'll understand soon enough.
  11. I see. The leader of the Vichy regime.
  12. :flirt: 100010110100110010101001000101101001100101010010001100010101
  13. The team that should play the left wing lock is probably the Canucks. Washington or back to Carolina is a possibility too.
  14. A place to hold combine for drafting, the Sabres development camp facility, a training facility, accommodations for opposing teams, maybe the video and analytic offices will be there. Why so grumpy about this?
  15. I died years ago. I exist on the internet only as an algorithm.
  16. Throw the kids a beer party. What could go wrong?
  17. You missed the whole point. You're not really supposed to enjoy them. You are supposed to tell everyone that they are the best and that you can't wait to eat more. It's part of the WNY compact.
  18. Point taken. But I am keenly interested in how he uses the assets the team has - and how he justifies them. He needs to build a team. I want to see a foundation.
  19. So, not Joe Batista made Patty cry and quit?
  20. I like Murray. So far we've had really one trade deadline, but the proof will be what he does between now and Oct: the draft, trades, and free agency. I think he's thick skinned and has the potential to act boldly and quickly should the need arise. He's got buckets of ammo this offseason in terms of picks and money to spend. We'll see what he does. So far, I'm optimistic.
  21. Greetings B2theP! In six words: Scouring draft for next young savior. sums it up for me.
  22. I'm interested in where he goes. There was much speculation here whether or not he would ever get another GM gig or not. This might be pretty close to it. Darcy could build a winning team. He just couldn't seem to think boldly enough to build a cup winner.
  23. Probably a perfect fit for him. Major budget constraints with the Coyotes. Conservative model of team-building with value type players.
