RJ States this will be His Final Year Announcing Sabres Games
Andrew Amerk replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
I have very fond memories of meeting both Dunn and Van Boxmeer with the Amerks when I was a kid. Even fonder memories of the hip checks Hoffard would throw. He runs the Greece Mall now. I believe he scored the winning goal in the infamous Bears-Amerks brawl game in Buffalo where 9 players were ejected after warmups. I was at the game as a kid, and it was insane. April 17, 1987 BUFFALO, N.Y. -- A brawl before an American Hockey League game that left a Rochester Americans player injured and nine players ejected from the match prompted calls Friday for a police investigation of sports violence. Councilman Vincent LoVallo termed the April 11 incident at the Buffalo Memorial Auditorium a 'savage attack with skates and sticks' and, in a letter to Buffalo Police, asked whether local law enforcement officials are authorized to probe the fight. 'I'm not looking to take fighting out of the sport. I don't think you can, and that's not my role,' LoVallo told The Buffalo News. 'But it wasn't a fight, it was the use of weapons to maim a human being. They were kicking and spearing.' The brawl happened when Andy Ristau of Rochester and Jeff Brubaker of the Hershey Bears exchanged words during the warmup for the second game of a best-of-seven league semifinal playoff series. A videotape of the fight shows the two tumbled on the ice while slugging it out and two other Hershey players, Kevin Maxwell and Greg Smyth, attacked Ristau with their sticks while he attempted to shield himself. Brubaker continued punching Ristau while the two other Bears speared him. Ristau was also kicked and appeared to go into convulsions during the attack. Other Hershey players stopped Ristau's teammates from rescuing him, and several other fights broke out as a result. Brubaker and Maxwell were suspended by the AHL for two games. Smyth was suspended for the remainder of the seven-game playoff series, the first two games of which were played in Buffalo because of a previously scheduled circus at the Rochester War Memorial. Rochester won the first two games and took a 3-1 series lead into Game 5 in Rochester Friday night. Ristau, who was suspended for one game, was hospitalized for a concussion and bruises on his spine. After spending several days at home, the right winger began practicing with the team Friday, but was not expected to play against Hershey again in the semifinals. Both Ristau and league president Jack Butterfield said they consider the fight a closed issue. -

Nice to see Power will be skating for the blue & gold this season. -
None. Unless he wants to be a receivers coach.

I’m usually last row in 106, when possible.

I tried out Crotch Itch. Butt Scratch was much better. -
Too soon.

Thank you for the info. Might have to try and grill some wings before summer ends!

How much are the wings at Skips per pound? That’s almost walking distance from my house.

Sabres Hired Tim Kennedy and Nathan Paetsch as Development Coaches
Andrew Amerk replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
It wasn’t much of a “pay cut” if the Sabres paid him $333,000 to leave, and the Rangers signed him for $550,000. From what I’ve just read, he made $600,000 for Buffalo. Sabres offered him $800,000 and he wanted $850,000 - then arbitration awarded him $1,000,000. Sounds like he made a bad gamble. Made the money that he wanted for one season, but it derailed his chances in hindsight of establishing a solid NHL career, which probably could’ve happened in Buffalo. -
She accidentally stuck her butt in my face at a game 2 years ago. Anyone watching the TV on the scoreboard during the Wendy’s section contest saw it.

Barstool. -
He was just at Matt Lanes wedding from Rochester a few weeks ago. He was one of the groomsmen, along with Matt Grzelcyk and Danny Oregan.

They were a mighty failure in Rochester. I’m glad I wasn’t the only one. The way they did it was super distracting and obnoxious. -

IIRC, Kennedy wanted (and was awarded in arbitration) $1,000,000 and the Sabres offered $950,000. Instead of paying the $50,000 the Sabres bought him out at $333,000. It all seemed silly to me at the time. -
Diamond Hands. 🚀

How good will Sam Reinhart be in the playoffs?
Andrew Amerk replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
He’s on some other team now. He’s the enemy. This calls for a 21-inch collapsible baton to strike Samson’s right leg. -
This sounds like a Boyz II Men song waiting to be made.

Wow. Nobody has driven that car since 1986???

Steal or steel?

I’ll play for the Amerks for 125k.

Half of the motorcycles I see on a day to day basis are driving far more recklessly, and they want to blame it on the “cagers.”
