I think in the 80’s, he was butchering Euro names on purpose. I think today, he’s just old and too excitable, because I hear him butchering everyone’s names. I remember there being a lot of RNH for Risto trade chatter going on back in March, but nothing since. Also, gotta remember JBott seems to make moves that are always quietly kept out of the media.

My feeling is that JBott is still hunting for his 2C. I think the idea is that Johansson is an “insurance” move, in case he doesn’t find what he wants, it gives tinkering options for the lineup. Or, if he does land the 2C he wants, Johansson can fill in when one of our top 3 centers inevitably has an illness or injury.

Zemgus will be fine.

Depending on the price and term, Gusev is worth a flier. Second best point total in a season in the KHL is nothing to sneeze at.

Vesey is the Sheary of this off-season. Both 26 when brought in, both with 3 seasons of NHL experience. Sheary came in with 48 NHL goals, Vesey coming in with 50. Some of us hoped for 20-30 goals from Sheary on a 2nd line role. Guessing some of us hoping for the same from Vesey. Still waiting to see our Skinner deal of this off-season, personally.
