  1. Im concerned he isn't physically ready for the NHL - im sure he is mentally ready. Sure it will be fun to watch our "shiny new toy" play in Buffalo next season but if the kid isn't strong enough at this point why not let him develop further (physically) in juniors.
  2. Tried to listen to yesterdays broadcast. I CAN NOT believe that there are people, including the hosts, that think Tank Nation want the players to go out and not give it their best effort and try to lose on purpose. How many times do people have to be hit over the head with this - I want the players to try, I don't expect them to roll over so that they eventually lose their jobs to McDavid/Eichel or whomever the Sabres draft. However, I also want the Sabres management to put out a team that just isn't good enough to win on most nights. I want management to put their prospects in the best place for them to develop - some will be with the Sabres, some in Roch and others in Juniors. If a guy like Risto is better off long term with the Amerks I want him with the Amerks - even if he is the 4th best D in the organization right now. I've been a Sabres fan for 40 years, when I was young I used to cry when they lost, I wear my Sabres gear proudly while living in the middle of Leafs Nation. I travelled all over Southern Ontario to watch Sabres prospects play in the AHL and OHL. I am a true Sabres fan, I desperately want to see them lift the cup one day and this season - I will OPENLY hope that they lose. Does that make me a bad fan? Or one that is tired of the way the Sabres have been doing business for my first 39 years and I'm willing to stick with this new plan and "suffer" for a couple of years.
  3. Mike Harrington can’t imagine a scenario where Reinhart doesn’t play for the Sabres this season. Roster takes shape for Sabres - Sports - The Buffalo News I am totally on the other side of the fence. I love the Reinhart pick but this is a kid that didn’t make it through the Propect Game in July without needing a day off for “maintenance”. He needs to get stronger before being able to compete at the NHL level day in and day out. Let him get a taste of the NHL - playing his 9 games and then send him back to the WHL for the year. I can’t see a season where he dominates his league and captains Canada’s World Junior Team as anything but positive for him and the Sabres – not to mention saving a year on his ELC. Am I wrong here?
  4. 2015 NHL Draft - 50 Weeks and 50 Prospects (In no particular order) Week 1 Brock Boeser C Waterloo USHL 6’0 195lbs Week 2 Nathan Noel C Saint John QMJHL 5’10 163lbs Week 3 Mathew Barzal C Seattle WHL 5’11 174lbs Week 4 - Mitchell Marner C London Knights 5’10 164lb Week 5 Matthew Spencer D Peterborough 6’2 190lbs Week 6 Nick Boka D USNTDP u18 6’1 196lb Week 7 Zachary Werenski D University of Michigan 6’2 210lbs Week 8 Nicolas Meloche D Baie-Comeau 6’2 198lbs Week 9 Lawson Crouse LW Kingston 6’4 212lbs Career Highlights: 2014 Represented Canada at the Ivan Hlinka Under 18 Tournament scoring 6 goals in 5 games played 2013 Selected in 1st round (5th overall) by Kingston in the OHL Entry draft A big bodied winger, who plays a physical game that can dominate in puck possession battles. His compete level is extremely high and will not hesitate to drive to the front of the net. Has a good shot and can play both on the power play and penalty kill. He uses his size well in cutting down angles in the defensive zone. It is said that he has average speed and quickness that needs to be improved. If he can get faster and improve on his 15 goals scored in 2013/14 (6 goals at the Ivan Hlinka is a good start) he should be in top 10 conversation Currently ranked 18 by Future Considerations
  5. On a really slow news day Justin Bailey scores 4 goals in team whites 8-7 shootout win at Kitchener Rangers Camp. Did i mention REALLY slow news day.

He has NHL size and plays a physical defensive game. He is reliable at both ends of the ice but is a “defense first” type of player. He skates well and is able to join the rush when the opportunity presents itself. His skating is thought to be excellent and possesses a heavy shot. He is currently thought to be a mid-second round selection in the upcoming 2015 NHL draft
  8. Talking about McDavid - from Mroziaks article today "Don’t root for them to be bad enough to land McDavid. Root for them to go as far as they can go with the work ethic that can sometimes override the level of talent. If you believe in the hockey gods, you should believe they’d smile more upon that, including draft lottery day" Since I don't believe in the hockey Gods (or any God for that matter but thats a subject for another day) I am rooting for them to be dead last. I realize that the odds of landing McDavid are going to be low but I want as high as odds to get him and if not we are guaranteed Eichel - who would automatically be the Sabres best Player. If there was no Eichel, for fellow Tank Nation would you still want to be last?
  9. 50 days from Today the drive for McDavid officially starts!
  10. Youngblood: OHL Sends Strong 2015 NHL Draft Crop [Top 10] | McKeen's Hockey I love the list and think Vandle Sompel is the only D who has the opportunity to somehow get into the top 5 of this list based on his play this summer with Team Canada U18 Team. Though getting picked before any of Marner, Strome, Crouse or Konecny is going to take a special season from Vandle Sompel. I'll be estatic if the Sabres can land McDavid / Eichel and any one of the OHL top forwards (including Zacha).

He uses his stick well but isn’t overly physical. He is a fluid skater and possesses decent offensive skills. Possesses a good hockey sense and has good vision while in possession of the puck. Checks with his stick and needs to learn to use his body and strength more, something he is working on. Currently ranked 16 by Future Considerations and considered a mid first round pick at this time
  12. 2015 NHL Draft - 50 Weeks and 50 Prospects (In no particular order) Week 1 Brock Boeser C Waterloo USHL 6’0 195lbs Week 2 Nathan Noel C Saint John QMJHL 5’10 163lbs Week 3 Mathew Barzal C Seattle WHL 5’11 174lbs Week 4 - Mitchell Marner C London Knights 5’10 164lb Week 5 Matthew Spencer D Peterborough 6’2 190lbs Week 6 Nick Boka D USNTDP u18 6’1 196lb Career Highlights: 2013-14 Represented USA at the World Under-17 Championships 2013 Committed to University Michigan for fall of 2015 Boka is an all-round defeceman for the USNTDP. He has a physical presence in his own end – finishing a high percetage of his checks and has good positioning. Offensively he isn’t flashy but skates fairly well and isn’t afraid to skate the puck up the ice. He also possess has a good, heavy point shot. At this time Boca is thought to be an early 2nd round draft pick in next years NHL draft.
  13. More OHL news as another potential top 10 pick has signed with the Barrie Colts. Rasmus Andersson 6'0 214lbs commited to the colts earlier today.

  15. when you say " just give me the playoffs" you sound exactly like Leaf fans - believe me I hear them every single day. As Sabre fans we should be saying "just bring me the cup". Want the best possibility to see the cup in Buffalo? give it one more year and draft McDavid or Eichel.

  19. 2015 NHL Draft - 50 Weeks and 50 Prospects (In no particular order) Week 1 Brock Boeser C Waterloo USHL 6’0 195lbs Week 2 Nathan Noel C Saint John QMJHL 5’10 163lbs Week 3 Mathew Barzal C Seattle WHL 5’11 174lbs Week 4 - Mitchell Marner C London Knights 5’10 164lb Week 5 Matthew Spencer D Peterborough 6’2 190lbs Ranked 36 by Future Considerations Career Highlights - 2014 - invited to attend Canada's National Men's Summer Under-18 Team selection camp that will be held from Aug. 2-5, to select the team that will represent Canada at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup. 2013 – Drafted 3rd overall by Peterborough in OHL Draft Spencer is a high character type player who leads both on and off the ice - a two way player who can be used in any situation. At 6’2 he is a physical, intimidating player who will take away space and fight hard along the boards. Spencer will use his size to his advantage and will not back away from laying out big open ice hits when the opportunity arises. He came into the OHL possessing deceptive offensive skills and a heavy shot but concentrated on the defensive side of the game in his first year. He is still thought to be a bit rough around the edges and needs to work on his passing accuracy when exiting the defensive zone. Will work to improve his offence numbers in his sophomore year with the Pete’s – looking to improve on his 1G 14A rookie campaign. Spencer has huge upside and is thought to be a late first or early second round pick in next years NHL draft.
  20. Love the list, makes me so excited to be a Sabres fan. Talks about Lemieux being a high risk to get hurt because of his smaller stature but I think he weighed in at 210lbs at the development camp, not the 186 as per the article.
  21. 2015 NHL Draft - 50 Weeks and 50 Prospects (In no particular order) Week 1 Brock Boeser C Waterloo USHL 6’0 195lbs Week 2 Nathan Noel C Saint John QMJHL 5’10 163lbs Week 3 Mathew Barzal C Seattle WHL 5’11 174lbs Week 4 - Mitchell Marner C London Knights 5’10 164lbs Ranked 22 by Future Considerations Career Highlights – 2014 - invited to attend Canada's National Men's Summer Under-18 Team selection camp that will be held from Aug. 2-5, to select the team that will represent Canada at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup. 2013-14 – His 46A ranked 4th on the high-scoring Knights team. Marners Rookie season with the team. 2013 – London Knights 1st pick (19th overall) in the OHL entry Draft He is thought of a pass-first playmaker as evidenced by his stat line of 13G 46A in his first season in the OHL. Has great vision with elite offensive potential. His quick feet allow him to create time and space in the offensive zone. His two-way game is very strong - understands position in the defensive side of the game. His size seems to be his biggest detriment though he did add 3 inches and 30lbs over the last year. Marner heads into this season as a potential mid first round pick.
  22. you didn't know Jakub Vrana translates to James Crow in English? :)
  23. some cool news if it is accurate - Zacha to come to OHL. Article is translated to English The greatest hockey talent disappear overseas. Zach goes from Liberec to OHLT The draft matures in 2015, according to experts exceptional generation of hockey players, which may affect the NHL for a long time. A one of its biggest stars is to become Pavel Zach, now seventeen year old Czech center. In order to fulfill his dream closer, is likely to come from Liberec Club Sarnia Sting in the Ontario Junior Hockey League. Czech had a representative in the Top 10 overall pick in the NHL for the last ten years, only twice. In June 2007, Columbus booked striker James Voráček as number 7 and the year before Florida took Michael Frolik as ten. According to forecasts, which are naturally still evolving, Zach headed in the next auction hopefully somewhere between the fifth and tenth position. To further improve its prospects and the NHL was interested as much in his eyes, he decided to move overseas. In Liberec ACKs him is attributed the role of extras and a junior or farm in Venice hockey player with his goal - to be among the best in the world - just not enough. In season 2014/15 would be active in the club Sarnia Sting in the Ontario Hockey League. "Negotiations are nearing the end, the final agreement should be ready in the coming days," said hokejistův father Pavel Zacha It is shaped like a grown man (191 cm and 96 kg), so it eliminates the usual teen troubles with shirring muscles. You now divided from the elite to be skilful forwards James Crow and David Pastrňák that freshly picked Washington Capitals and Boston Bruins. Zach among their peers further excels in swift and precise shot, the ability to play hard on the body and hockey intelligence and responsibility. Zach, meanwhile, pretty quiet (at least temporarily) broke with the Tigers Liberec. Sarnia during a series of meetings with agents Zachovými Michal Sivko and Alan Walsh can offer all the care in the private (local boys living in families) after professionally. Quality food. Opportunity in the first string and in all key situations. The possibility of further development in skating, shooting and stick handling. Zach is the new environment happy. Zahrančiní engagement takes it as a challenge. Eager to promote and showcase the curiosity of the NHL. Sarnia in the past helped to position number one draft pick Steven Stamkos (2008) and nail Jakupovovi (2012). How high will push Paul Zach?
  24. You could be right (maybe im remembering the 2012 version) but I'd still put him above the Sabres goalies.
  25. Luckily Arizona has one of the top goalies in the league and the Sabres dont. Though you are right, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Coyotoes employ the same strategy as the Sabres. Erat and Vermette will be UFA's at end of 2104/15 (deadline trades) and I wouldnt be surprised if Yandle and/or Doan are trade bait this coming year.
