Really want the Sabres to pull this one off, not to spite Eichel (well, maybe a little bit), but I am rooting for Vegas to miss the playoffs, as that makes our first round pick ~15th overall. In my mind the worst part of the ROR trade was that, at the time of the trade St. Louis was almost last in the league and that was looking like a high draft pick that turned out to be the last 1st round selection. I'm hoping this pick goes the other way. If I were a sports gambling man I would put down $50 on Eichel scoring tonight.

I usually have the game on a tablet in the background or just put some headphones and listen in. The past few weeks I've been working on getting our nursery ready and I can attest that watching paint dry has recently been less painful than watching the Sabres.

I saw the thread title and came here specifically to comment something along the lines of "this matches my eye test". I'm sure these guys can probably find a team to fit in somewhere and contribute a supporting role - but when you put three players together who need to be supported by better players you end up with this. I don't understand how we have a supposedly highly touted analytics department but the team still puts this line out as a trio. Isn't this part of what their job should be? To tell the coach, "hey, here's a lot of data to support that this thing that you're doing, it's not working, so try something else."

This is the last game in a long stretch of our schedule where we've been playing majority of teams outside of the playoff race. After tonight the Sabres will be playing mostly playoff teams until the last 5 games of the season. Let's get a win tonight because they'll soon be much harder to come by.

I had the game on in the background while I put together my new platform bed that was delivered yesterday. The instructions said it would take 45 minutes to assemble but it ended up taking the entire game, partly because I had to take it apart and re-assemble it due to unclear instructions. I paid almost no attention to the game outside of the Okposo goal and do recall hearing RJ talk about how miserable the game was. Sounds like my expletive-ridden assembly experience was LESS painful than the Sabres performance.

I'd trade Oloffson in a heartbeat if the offer was right. Not because I don't like him as a player but I don't see where he fits on the team going forward.

I saw the GDT and my first thought was, "Ottowa, again? I feel like we've been relegated to only playing basement teams." Going back to Jan. 15th, we are in a 16 game stretch (which ends Feb 23) where 13 of those 16 games were against teams not in the playoffs. We hae COL twice and VGK once in the stretch, aside from that it's been mostly DET, MTL, OTT, CBJ, NYI, ARI, After this stretch we're going to start playing real teams and it'll be a nice litmus test to see how we measure up going into the off-season.

I've never had a "second" team to root for but I think Vegas will now be my team out west, however, I also wouldn't mind if they got shut out every game for the rest of the season as we have their 1st round pick.
