  1. I'll be the first one to go back in but I truly believe Byslma was a candle-snuffer of talent on this team. It's not so much I have faith in Bogo it's that I despised DDB and want to see evidence that everything bad that happened was his fault.
  2. This might be the stupid Buffalo optimism speaking, but listening to Phil makes me think Bogo is gonna play like a top-4 dman. Mark me down as OUT of the bunker.
  3. I love how the corpse of DDB is being dragged across this interview.
  4. JBOT sounds so much smarter when he's not reading a prepared statement.
  5. Is the Housley hire JBOT's first official move of him addressing the dumpster fire that has been our defense? I'm not counting Anitpin b/c that seemed to fall into his lap.
  6. What kind of system does he run?
  7. Brushing up on my Housley reading, from wikipedia: "Housley is the second leading scorer amongst U.S.-born players, with 1,232 points (338–894). He held the record for most points by an American-born NHL player until Mike Modano surpassed it on November 7, 2007. Housley never won the Stanley Cup, coming closest with the Capitals in 1998, where they were swept in the Stanley Cup Finals by the Detroit Red Wings. He played more NHL games without winning the Stanley Cup than any player in NHL history." Really impressive career, but the bolded jumps out to me as the most Buffalo statistic ever. Hopefully he gets his name on the cup here, if hired.
  8. I believe everybody is waiting for the finals to be over so they don't draw attention away from them. Assuming the finals stretch to a 7th game we should start seeing trades start rolling in a week from now.
  9. Thanks for clearing that up. Hopefully he keeps marinating and comes out extra-juicy.
  10. edit: Jeez that formatted funky. Asplund staying in Sweden this year. Not signing a contract due to front office upheaval. http://www.diebytheblade.com/2017/6/7/15757586/rasmus-asplund-extends-stay-farjestad-sweden-shl-buffalo-sabres-prospect " Despite beginning contract talks with the Sabres a month ago, those talks went silent with the change at GM, and Asplund has decided not to come over this season. “No, I will not sign an NHL contract this summer. It is very turbulent in Buffalo right now, given that they will have the new coach in both the NHL and AHL. There is no need to sign me up now [to Buffalo/Rochester]. “It would be really fun to go far in the playoffs and accumulate experience from it [with Färjestad]. “Then I want to take the leap in my development and get better, taking small steps throughout the season and maybe get some games for the Tre Kronor [sweden national team]. “It's like the next step and therefore the next target.” Who can the blame the prospect for making this decision considering there will be new coaches at both the Rochester Americans and the Buffalo Sabres in the upcoming season, with General Manager Jason Botterill looking to fill those vacancies soon."
  11. Last year the schedule was released on June 21, 2016 so I'd expect a similar date for this year.
  12. If this ends up exactly like the Vesey situation then Peterson can right off and we'll enjoy our 16th seed playoff run to the finals.
  13. Well, we've known about Antipin since March(?) and I feel like the possibility of Lambert staying on was practically zero percent. All of this is has been very whelming news at best. I'm guessing there will be more optimism once we have a head coach for both teams, and movement starts happening with the expansion and amateur draft.
  14. This was was running Bylsma's system and look where it got the Americans. The only surprise is that this didn't happen sooner.
  15. I'd be interested to know what other skaters for these teams would be available for Vegas to choose from. While I wouldn't say Ullmark is the best player available for the Sabres he may be the most attractive. Also, talks of Vegas reaching the cap floor I feel are irrelevant. Every team has a player on a terrible contract fans are hoping they'll take to "reach the floor". That won't be a problem. Also, the proposal made by Wookie is a nonsensical pipe-dream. Why would Vegas agree to taking 3 players from one of the worst teams in the league? The point is to build a strong team, not stock yourself full of losers and under-achievers. Also keep in mind they still have another 29 players on top of that to select. I can see Vegas making "arrangements" to stock up on draft picks and not much else. The more darts you throw the more bulls-eyes you're bound to hit. I think we're going to end up giving LV either our extra 2nd or 3rd round pick in exchange to have them take Moulson off our hands. He can provide veteran leadership and could be used properly over there. Does anyone know if there is a "trade-freeze" once the protection lists are submitted? What if a team submits a list and then makes a trade with a team not named Las Vegas? Would they then have to submit a new list?
  16. This is how super villains are created.
  17. We won't see Royal Blue until 2020 (50th anniversary), with a Goat-Head alternative. If I were Russ Brandon I'd be all over that.
  18. JBOT MAKING MOVES...kind of. This one fell into his lap BUT OUR DEFENSE IS ALREADY BETTER.
  19. I think the off-season -posting has officially begun.
  20. The expansion draft changes the situation entirely. If Anaheim does nothing then they will lose a great player. Their hand is somewhat forced. You have to wonder how Kane would fit in over there, lockerroom wise. Anaheim has a pretty established veteran leadership group in Getzlaf and Perry, where the Sabres leadership has been sorely lacking which I feel led to a lot of friction this year.
  21. Right. Rutherford built a team that complements Crosby and Malkin by brining in Phil the Thrill, Bonino, Hagelin, and apparently knows what he's doing when it comes to drafting and developing talent, Gueznal (sp?), Rust and also created a defensive pool so deep they can lose their number 1 and 2 defense man (Letang and Daley (I'm actually not sure where Daley falls on their depth chart) and still make it to the conference final.
  22. That's exactly my point. Winning the cup stems from years of building a team the correct way. The GM who wins the cup has obviously done that and deserves the award.
  23. I don't understand why the "GM of the Year" award should go to anyone other than the cup winning GM. The main job of a GM is to assemble a team that will compete for and win the Stanley Cup. He who wins it was the best at it.
  24. I don't understand the love for EROD on this board. The sabres will never be competitive if we have him on the roster outside of an emergency call up from the AHL. In my mind he is the embodiment of the carousel of players this team fielded during the "tank-era". JAG who may make a flashy move every once in a while but would never see ice on any other team in the league.
  25. This looks like a 5 year got inspired by Radiohead album art and put his sad crayons to work. Jail? Your experience was jail? Nobody was stopping him from dissolving his contract and walking away if it was so bad, which it wasn't, because he was making 4.5 million a year to play hockey.
