Not to get off track here because of all the speculation on the cause of death but the league didn't do anything when Sidney Crosby got whacked in the Winter Classic. So I'm not sure you are supported in your statement there. I won't go into much more on concussion. Point is.. unless you play an All-Star Game style of play you can't eliminate the problem. It's nice to hear all of the amazing things that former teammates are saying about Montador. Sounds like a very true person. Not enough of those in this world and now there's one less.

Close... it was the Sabres first 5 on 3 goal in 697 days or so. Saw a stat posted today. Now don't we all feel much better.
-
Man.. if only I could. Very kind of you. I hope someone can enjoy them.

Wow.. only 35. Sigh. Nice trade by the Predators. Apparently Toronto wanted to clear out some lineup space. Jokinen is clearly nothing for them long term. But they do get a first and that will help them in their rebuild.

But see, you did respond. That's lovely.

Larsson called up to showcase? :) Rumors! Today's a fun day.. had to get the kid on the ice at 9am and then again at 6:30pm tonight for practices. New team tonight so it should be fun, some new kids to coach too. Looking forward to it. Then I can come home and watch the Sabres play. I want to see Bogosian entrench himself in the hearts of Sabres fans by putting a hurting on some Flyers forwards.. especially those named Giroux and Simmonds.

For what it's worth we all get dragged into it when it's posted in the public forum. I called him out in the Enroth thread for the way he went about it. I didn't however continue on and make it personal. The quality of the posting of the people in question can be fantastic so it's a bit disappointing when it falls to the level it did. I guess that's all I was trying to say.

Furthermore it's gotten to a point where there's enough genetic mixing that we see much more varying shades of skin color. So, at some point, it's irrelevant. It's like saying you are Italian when your great-great grandfather came from Italy and married a German woman. They had your grandfather who married a nice woman with Russian-Irish heritage and had your mother who married a guy who was born of an Asian-French relationship. Mutt. Skin color is the same way. Although people still like to be racist about it. You aren't black enough to be black and you aren't white enough to be white. That's one of the better one's you hear these days.

Clear. At least I think so. I think you're going a bit overboard with top 3 only in the sense that there could be 3 players better than him on the team and yet he's still on the top line. He can still be someone else's top 3 forward and not be top 3 on the Sabres. I'd like to have that problem. Frankly, the top 3/6 argument is completely irrelevant. What we want the guy to do is show up and score 30-40 goals. I don't care if he does it from the 4th line. A guy with over 5000 posts. So, you know, perhaps take that into account that he didn't just show up yesterday. As opposed to you who had 26 at the time I posted this. ugh.. why stoop so low? it's out of hand..

I was thinking to myself up thread that perhaps the Leafs could trade Kessel's purse... now that the infamous gif has made a comeback.. I have to post the thought.

Yea.. I think because I don't pay attention to football really the Mansiel thing doesn't bother me straight away. However, as you mention it, I do think about it and think he's an idiot for doing it. Then again I hate people and their egos and those who think they are bigger than the world. Celebrating is one thing. Acting like you are some great asset to the planet is quite another. Yea, I don't know how putting Kane on a line with Stewart would do anything to help mentor him. It's hockey. Now, perhaps through their cultural upbringing (I don't know Kane's but we had a great article on Stewart's) they might share some similar activities. I don't know. I know I can't speak to the racism that exists in this world and while I can certainly speak against it I won't notice it nor will I ever feel it the way that those who are subjected to it will. Have I been the victim of racism? Sure. But it was an isolated incident. Those who are subjected to it and still hear some terms used and be stereotyped a certain way have to deal with it much more often. I've heard intelligent people speak (of many races) speak to the fact that as long as we continue to discuss race then race will continue to be a topic of conversation. I think there's truth to that. It seems that people need to point out skin color as something of relevancy. Kane is a human being, a hockey player, a guy who poses on Las Vegas balconies with wads of cash. The fact that his skin is a different shade doesn't make any of that different. Not to me anyway.
-
I think the study makes perfect sense. Perhaps racism was borne more out of differences in culture than skin color but given that skin color is pretty obvious (even if picking shades of it isn't) that it evolved into just pointing it out. I don't know.. I don't really think about it that much. I'd agree with the stacks of cash. I think people might be more willing to accept it in that situation. I know I wouldn't because for me it's just idiotic narcissism but I could see some people giving someone of similar skin color a pass on that. I dunno.. like I said I struggle with it all.. trying to make sense of the illogical is painful.

Puck Daddy says GMTM's desire for Luke Richardson as coach

And really.. who is going to argue that you created a new thread for this right? :) I think Nolan is great at building relationships with players. I think players genuinely want to play for him. That said.. he's just not as gifted as other coaches in the semantics of the game. -
All I heard was Leafs will suck for longer and in their brilliance they are going to start doing it in the year the top 3 picks in the draft are lottery picks. I believe this story will earn it's rightful place in the Comedy Hall of Fame as no one outside of Toronto will be able to stop Laffing.

I'll miss Enroth.. his air of European sophistication was something else. The best we have now in my opinion is Ristolainen with his Ivan Drago meets Guile hairdo. I think Enroth would be cast in the Swedish version of the Dos Equis commercials.

For what it's worth I hope he lights it up and is a superstar over the next few seasons. Let's be real. If he wants a pay day at UFA status he's going to be determined to perform. So the Sabres would get his performance. So it plays out like this. Kane performs to a point where the Sabres want to keep him. They offer to extend him. He turns it down. He now becomes a great player on the block to another team for a run that the Sabres can flip for first round picks/other players to help maintain their prospect pool. I'm not seeing a downside here. If the Sabres are in a position to keep him through a trade deadline and let him walk away from nothing I am guessing that we'll all be ecstatic as fans.

No favorite order but perhaps by time period: Wings of Fury Archon Ultra The Battle of the Bulge: Tigers in the Snow Leisure Suit Larry Maniac Mansion Ultima I-IV Castle Wolfenstein (not 3D) Joust Karate Champ Rocky Zaxxon Command & Conquer: Red Alert Age of Empires I & II Bard's Tale Neverwinter Nights Far Cry 3 Dragon's Age 2 NHL '93-2013 (I have 2015 and hate it) Diablo 3 Borderlands 2 Counterstrike Halo Half-Life (all of it) Unreal (all of it) Doom (all of it) Forza Assassin's Creed 3 There are probably a ton more. I've played video games since having a Timex Sinclair 1000, then a Coleco Adam, Colecovision, Apple //c, an IBM XT on through to the latest computers today, Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Playstation, Atari 2600, and perhaps a few more I've forgotten at this point. I'm on Xbox as InstantSpuds if you ever want to play.

I have no doubt that he experienced some form of racism at some point. I don't think one could say it's systemic but idiots are everywhere. If he didn't then I would be amazed. I struggle to understand racism. It's about as illogical a concept as could be created.
-
I think neither will be with the club unless they prove in the first 9 games they absolutely without a doubt belong there. Nope. I think its split. I think a lot hinges on Grigorenko (assuming he's around). If Grigorenko shows the ability to play at a high level in the #1/#2 spot then the Sabres are not forced to rush a player into the lineup. They aren't going for th Stanley Cup next year.. we know that. However, if he's not the guy then there's a good chance one of them is playing on the Sabres and I think it will boil down to the 9 game tryout (at least if it's McDavid.. Eichel could be signed and sent to the AHL immediately right?)

I understand having an interest in the local team. And I am a fan of the sport and on any given night I'll watch hockey between any two teams and I'll more than likely root for one team over the other. Except in certain circumstances like Boston vs. Leafs where I just root for the termination of both teams. That said.. I criticized you for your approach. Saying that Murray checked out was cuckoo. The Sabres plan has not been altered. I think, at this point, it's being executed with the precision of a German engineer. You shouldn't be surprised with the responses you receive when you say what you said. And we should all let it go at this point... I'd say some of the responses to JJ have pushed the boundaries too. I certainly don't think what JJ has done approaches some of the other things we've experienced on this board. Perhaps the timing of it could be better because while some are riding an euphoric high on the moves he's there protesting loudly so you might feel slightly more offended than you would in other circumstances. So then...

All-time Sabres center ice logos and red line designs
LTS replied to PASabreFan's topic in The Aud Club
This is just awesome information. Thanks. I feel fulfilled for the day. I'm going drinking now. Seriously.. sometimes the coolest stuff gets posted here. -
Then feel free to move on over to that Florida Panthers fan forum. I'm not sure how anyone can say Murray is mailing in the rest of the season. These moves impact the team beyond this season and frankly, what else was he supposed to do? Did you think that Enroth would not be moved? Every UFA is going to be moved (if they can be moved for any value). Moving Enroth was a great move. It gives him a chance at the playoffs with a team who knows him best. No other team was likely looking for a solid backup to their starting goaltender (who has a history of injury by the way). So, move him to Dallas where he has a shot. The other trade makes perfect sense as well. It's the kind of trade everyone wishes would be made. It's the kind of trade that when other teams make it there's a load of bellyaching on this forum about how our GM could never do something like that. Never had the stones. Well, now he does. So the first moves he makes and everyone is all up in arms. I think the single most important point of this entire situation is that we all know that the moves aren't done. So, perhaps rather than act like we know what is going on we should just sit back and enjoy the Tim Murray show and see what his moves are up until next season. He started his plan with the acquisition of Kane and Bogosian. There's more to be done. As I see it most of the people on here complaining are the same ones who would likely have told Michelangelo that his painting sucked the moment he painted the first stroke on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.

This is why I never put a name on a jersey. Well.. we will now find out if it was Buffalo. Winnipeg has quite a few people in the vein of Stafford who are succeeding this year. You never know. I didn't want Kane, but it seemed as though we were going to get him anyway. I don't necessarily like what was given up either. But hoping for Armia and being a fanboi over Lemieux I am not. So they are gone. The Sabres in theory advanced their wing by replacing Armia with Kane. They let a prospect go who would not have been in Buffalo next year anyway (Lemieux). They let Stafford go, who was a non-factor and was leaving anyway. They let Myers go, who after watching the past few games I wanted gone anyway. I think the trade talk was bothering him as well. The first? okay.. so there it goes. They have two more and who knows.. maybe they get one back? It's a bold move that moves the club forward next year. I'm going to live with it and see what else happens.
