Do those teams really find a way out of it? I don't think we know that yet. I think teams temporarily find a way out of it but a year or two later they look like they are trending down and into more trouble. The Blackhawks don't look that good. The Kings are struggling. I don't know who else to look at. Given that I think Jagr could teach Jack how to use his body even better than he does (I have commented that I believe they are very similar players) I am all over that idea.

Coles has a great upstairs room I think. I could always reach out to the owner if we have an interest there.

The full value and impact of these selections will not be known until right around or just after the draft. Getting all bent now means nothing because this was a minimum two phase game. The first is the expansion draft, the second is the real draft. The jockeying that is likely to occur between now and Friday evening is going to huge. Measure yourselves a bit. Just because Ennis, Moulson, and Bogosian are here today does not mean they are here tomorrow or the next day. You can relax until mid-September.

Although NB's original post said Fleury to VGK and a pick to keep them from selecting anyone else... which didn't make sense. I'm going to backtrack and say that my stating if they "sign" Fleury it really means if they pick him and of course by virtue of that they assume his contract in a way that it would be "signing off" on it... yea.. yea.. YEA.. that's it.

The Penguins are a much more offensive styled team than Arizona who sucked. Possible... people definitely age differently. I haven't watched him play in awhile... but I was thinking that just dismissing him because he's 40 seems to be focused on the wrong metric.

What if Buffalo offers to take on a 1 year bad contract from VGK in exchange for Moulson? Wouldn't it be conceivable that VGK takes Grabovski... then flips him to Buffalo for Moulson? VGK gets a player who can play for some money and the Sabres shorten the time their money is locked up in a bad contract (Grabovski is 1 year left right?) That's just one example, but it comes down a finance exercise to realign committed dollars to the right length of time and player value. Grabovski has no value, but Moulson has at least some.

You get the feeling that there is no real draft. Just a series of deals that VGK will make with other teams. With each "pick" it will go something like "Vegas has selected X from Y on condition of Z. Vegas has traded X to Q for L." And so on... Should be fun.

Not too surprising to me. Carrier is a good energy guy but the Sabres have plenty of those guys right now. Now the fun begins!

Not Head Job Howie? Seems the most fitting... He wasn't ahead of his time. There were plenty of other offensive defense then.. well maybe not plenty but they existed. It was inevitable that it would be a featured skill set given the NHL tendency towards open style of play (playoffs excluded).

I think the interviews happen tomorrow (today since I am on the West Coast right now). I think the decision happens Thursday. JB already knows Tocchet so it's not like he has much to discuss with him. He'll have more to discuss with Housley. He may even think he wants Tocchet and has decided that unless Housley wows him he's going with who he knows. The only thing that has to be certain is the speed with which they make a decision.

It's great news. I know an adult who has Crohns and was finally able to get MM and it has made a HUGE difference for him. Far more impactful than Humira or whatever it is. That stuff was destroying him. The more people know.
