Well, this is based on what? Pure point differential? Are you accounting for the probability/potential that any of those players could hit the number Reinhart was at? If the probability they could reach Reinhart is 1-5% and 0% that they could reach 5 points more than Reinhart and the probability of Reinhart getting 5 more points next season is 95% and he has a 30% chance of hitting Draisaitl numbers then you'd have to say that Reinhart is closer to Draisaitl than the other players are closer to Reinhart... wouldn't you? Because there is no way Franson is closer to Reinhart than Reinhart is to Draisaitl.

Yes, I recall what they said. However, as you indicate, and as every coach I've talked to about this has indicated... no one is going to teach the kids to skate the puck out of the zone. This is why said they haven't given much of explanation. There's something admirable about wanting to increase problem solving skills, but you have to implement rules that will do that. This isn't one of them. Kids have a hard enough time icing the puck at the lower levels because they simple are not strong enough to do so while being chased. At ages 12-14 the coaches are going to ice it, period. Do you think parents will still scream "get it out" or "ice it"? Do you think I can point to this rule change to get them to shut up? Nah, I didn't think so either.

It sure is.

This change has numerous issues. It only results in a whistle and a face-off in the defensive zone. Any coach will take his team allowing themselves a chance to reset positioning off a face-off, especially those who have centers skilled at winning face-offs. And.... This. At the level of play they are implementing this, coaches can still change. The only thing this will do is increase the number of stoppages in play. These stoppages will result in the curfew clock being a factor in more games than usual (and it's already a high amount). Finally, given that officials at the 14U level are really learning the game any changes to "increase" scoring at this level is flat out stupid. There is a wide range in what officials consider a penalty at these lower levels. Moreover, teams at the 14U level barely practice "systems" so power play goals are rarely that critical as there aren't that many. USA Hockey didn't provide much of an explanation as to why they are making this change. Most people I talk to hate the change and are confused at what USA hockey was even trying to accomplish.

From a week ago... I need to get out again!
-
It does. The general capacity of the millenial to understand a culture where on-demand does not exist just isn't there. They've grown up in the digital age where everything can be streamed and where 8pm on a Thursday is not when a TV show HAS to be watched but when it COULD be watched. No generation before this faced this issue. It's a new world. The CD might have put a crimp in tapes and vinyl but the digital age changed everything. Yea.. lots.. all on making content and I am sure they will make money in the end.

Yea. In my case it's not the body. Sadly I am not even coaching next year... I get to enjoy the slow pace of being a parent on the sideline. It's probably for the best though. I'm sure I will get back on the ice again at some point... but this year is not looking good.

The 2nd Annual Great SS Meetup! Saturday March 10th, 1pm

It is very unlikely I will pay early.. but I will pay. :) Right now too many expenses at once and leaving on vacation in less than a week is not helping. No worries. The extra 10 spot won't kill me later. -
It was only a matter of time... unfortunately. It sucks.... while we hate on each other and kill each other over petty crap we continue to use energy that would be better spent fighting a disease that doesn't care who you are.

This is the a la carte model everyone wanted. What will happen is that the television delivery networks will fail. The content creators will have their own delivery mechanisms via the Internet. Each will hoard their own content and the market will spend time trying to balance itself out. Then they will realize that they cannot get enough revenue for their content to justify a streaming service of their own and they will offload the streaming to a content delivery network and provider that pulls content from multiple creators and you'll have TV delivered via the Internet. Disney's announcement is a clear indication of this happening at a more rapid pace now. They've watched Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu begin signing up their own content and know that if they don't muscle in now they will get squeezed out. The great frontier will be who owns the live sports streaming market.

It appears that, for now, I am retired. Sigh. Life gets in the way.... oh well.

WJC Sweden coach: Alex Nylander unlikely to play, because he'll be a Sabre

Some days I wonder if the dislike of Paul Hamilton is based less on his qualifications and more on the internal frustration people not being able to find a job like his, given we do much of the same things on here. :) Just a thought since the off-season is incredibly freakin boring! -
Great shots! I'm on a bad spell with taking drone shots lately. Either overexposed or underexposed. I've been messing around with settings and I still need to work on my post work. Sigh.

Except in the case of hockey 5 or 6 of the teams are dream teams. The United States just doesn't win all the time at hockey. For me it's pretty exciting to see if the US can finally put together the talent to take down Canada, Russia, Sweden, or Finland with the Czech Republic right there as well and a few others. This isn't basketball where the US is going to win, every, single, time. Baseball isn't even worthy of being in the Olympics anymore Football.. well that's pure US and I'm beginning to wonder how many negative studies have to come out about head trauma effects, opioid addictions, and lifelong pain (and severely shortened life span) before people stop wanting to play the sport (or parents letting their kids play it).

Then why bother showing up/ :w00t: Okay, so I'm more along the line of Zero Tux Given. However, I could probably pull off some horrible 70's garb... I think. -
If the Sabres had won a cup in 2006 would you still feel the same?

I assumed the one ticket was for Josie. :) TW is solid. No issues. -
Hah. No doubt. I'll actually be in Boca Raton next week. Business trip with no time for non-business items unfortunately. In on Wednesday morning, out on Thursday night. Ugh. Otherwise I might deliver a shot for you!

And yet we care more about the championship of the NFL, NHL, MLB, and NBA more than any respective world tournament. We would rather see our local teams succeed rather than see our National teams take our best talent and win. Just the way it is. The National Anthem and Pledge are false patriotic traditions that are holdover from an era when we needed to be brainwashed. The most "patriotic" American couldn't give damn about the United States competing against the world. They care about their college football team winning an SEC championship or their NBA team winning the final. Other countries celebrate their internationally successful athletes and their respective sports. In the US we view the Olympics as second fiddle to our big 3 (and some throw hockey in there for #4).

Finally able to get out tonight for some much needed relaxation. A couple of shots stitched together over Lock 32 Canal Park in Pittsford, NY.

While many of us are approaching this from the US attitude (very little nationalism)... there are people in other countries who are not happy their country's best players are not able to represent their flag at the Olympics. I am sure they will enjoy rooting for their best players from the other professional leagues but they'll really want the BEST players to be there to give their country the best chance to win.

I think McCabe offers it to him and he declines. Pommers takes 17.

If you use Chrome and you tell it to save your password you can retrieve your password from Chrome. You'll need to know the Windows password you logged in with (presumable the Mac password on MacOS). https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95606?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en

It will be interesting to see if it happens.
