  1. I might argue that you don't need to improve all the countries. You just need to improve the ones that you share a border with. If that one is good enough then they'll stop when they get there.
  2. If you want to refer to something, can you please post a link so people can understand what you are referring to? Furthermore, you are ignoring responses back to you. I'll be blunt, either have a discussion or leave the group. I think the bottom line of what you are saying is that the government is too big and too incompetent. I would agree, so asking them to embark on such an endeavor would be futile. This is without even accounting for the financial aspects of building such barriers, etc. as you described. People who flee countries because their lives are at stake are not going to be deterred by walls, guards, etc. Moreover, let's hypothetically say you can build a wall that deters entry from Southern land borders. How long before immigrants are hopping in boats and traveling across the Gulf or up to Canada to get in? Are we going to wall off Canada? What if Mexico were to improve its economic standing such that immigrants were content to settle there (or stay there)? Would that not be a much better solution?
  3. I haven't finished the video as I need to get to a meeting. She's not wrong. It also does not mean that racism does not exist. White nationalism is a thing, sadly. The socio-economic issues of urban centers is a bigger issue I would think.
  4. It's hockey tryout season... I saw a few kids on the ice last night at the 15/16U level who thought their best bet for making a team was to try and run every kid on the ice. Want me to get their names tonight? ?
  5. My kid loved the DJ. He didn't care about the floss cam. I actually don't mind the DJ because there's at least something going on between periods. Different strokes...
  6. Just because one is able to do something quickly does not mean it should be done quickly every time. Situations are always different. There are a lot of things that make sense here, don't choose to ignore them.
  7. No, I was asking to clarify for everyone who might read it. Better to ask than just assume things.
  8. Just a circle though, definitely not a sphere.
  9. I love Ted Nolan. Just not as a coach.
  10. You know, my first thought when you said this was not what number he was wearing but trying to figure out how old the video was, then seeing it was from 2019 and trying to figure out how an 11 year old managed to make it into the game. Some days the obvious just passes you by...
  11. Looks like the picture from a rectal scope.
  12. And exactly why would they want this? Did Gary Bettman's mother once slip on a sidewalk while in Buffalo? Perhaps Gary Bettman once choked on a chicken wing bone and thought to himself, it's all Buffalo's fault. Perhaps he hates the smell of cereal. Maybe he lost a lot of money betting on the Bills in the Super Bowl and is holding a grudge? He's mad Mighty Taco wouldn't expand to NYC? He hates kimmelweck rolls because the salt is bad for his high blood pressure? I'm really curious why he'd have it out for Buffalo.
  13. Eichel can be fiery but not be tough enough on himself too. Eichel still seems to carry an air of entitlement when he's on the ice. His insistence to stick handle into a group of players. His insistence to throw pucks into places without looking. His insistence to glide back to the bench for a change. His insistence to look at the referees when he believes there should be a penalty (or any of the seeming 500 million times he's tossed from the face-off). I still think he can be one of the best players in the game. He has at least another level. He needs someone to get him there, if it won't be himself. Fiery.. sure, but perhaps in the wrong way at the wrong time.
  14. Indeed. But then they are just reflections of society. People on here see one questionable statement and immediately there is speculation on the Sabres being used, because Buffalo, the Sabres roster, etc. Sooner or later you'd think people would get tired of walking through all the $#!+ that doesn't stick to the walls.
  15. I see now. When you (you specifically) enter a conversation and begin using the word you to refer to a general populace it can be quite confusing on who you (you specifically) are referring to. It's also helpful if one addresses the person they expect a response from so that person might recognize that you are directing statements or questions at that person. For example, your statements about grabbing a gun are clearly not targeted at me as I am not the one who said that. However, in reading it, it feels as though you are attributing it to me. There are plenty of illegal immigrants in my area. They will soon return to the area to begin doing the jobs, off the books, that the government has made too expensive to hire US citizens to do legally. I'm not concerned with who is here as long as they are being productive. At some point we'll all realize that borders are artificial divides and that pitting one nation against another is a waste of resources. With regards to your last sentence, this is a forum meant for discussion. So on here, the only thing people can do is throw around numbers and recite talking points. That's the point of discussion. It may actually do something in that it may actually inform people and educate people. It may spark action that was otherwise not already being taken. Finally, discussing these points on here is not mutually exclusive of taking action outside of this forum. Certainly one can argue that spending time posting on here consumes time that could be spent engaging in action, but life is not always about action, and this forum is more about the Buffalo Sabres than it is illegal immigration. TL;DR - address the person to whom you are making a counter point - I don't disagree with much of what you said - this is a forum, it's about discussing
  16. We'll chat. ?
  17. Eagle populations have been rising up strongly over the past few decades. The elimination of DDT and the subsequent bounce back of the bald eagle population is perhaps the premiere example of how raptors can be indicators of environmental health. A few weeks ago Hawk Ridge in Duluth, MN set a new North American record for a single day migration.. they counted 1,076 bald eagles in single day. The old record was 822. https://www.facebook.com/HawkRidgeDuluth/posts/2271009066295153
  18. Could you imagine what people on here would do if the Sabres dropped to 4th last year? They apparently did last year when despite the probability being greater that they drop out of the top spot they actually landed it. Oy. No. because probability... --------------------- I don't like that teams can jump so high in the lottery, it does seem to make it fairly stupid. This is what happened a couple of years ago though when Philly and NJ made big jumps. Philly from 13 to 2 and NJ from 5 to 1... There really should be a limit of how many spots a team can move up. I still prefer that the team that finishes last gets the top pick. That system may influence teams who are out of the race to make moves to improve their chances of finishing last, but I'm not sure the lottery has changed that behavior.
  19. There's information in the links above. The four birds we have are a Great Horned Owl, Red-tailed Hawk, Broad-winged Hawk, and a Merlin. They've all suffered damage to wings or eyes. Wings are usually being hit by a car and eyes can be that but our redtail was shot. They are used for education program my wife does as part of the organization.
  20. Is he your #2?
  21. All your hopes flushed away.
  22. All of this. I saw too much of Lehner and Johnson from last year begin to appear in Hutton and Ullmark this year. Same soft spots, over-aggressive pursuit of shooters, etc.
  23. https://www.bbrr.org - Website https://www.facebook.com/BraddockBayRaptorResearch/ - Facebook https://dunkadoo.org/explore/braddock-bay-raptor-research/2019-spring-raptor-watch - live migration updates from our hawk watcher Braddock Bay Raptor Research. The Braddock Bay area upon Lake Ontario in the Town of Greece has one of the highest Spring migration totals in North America.
  24. True. One would have to think that at this point you wait until after tonight to make your decision. Why wouldn't you want to see where your new employer will be drafting? It might not have a huge sway, but if the Kings move to 1 and the Sabres fall to 7 it could create a potential difference. That said, as I think about it... aren't all the GM's in Toronto tonight anyway and they are probably tied up with this whole process. Guess he'll be in town to chat with the GMs anyway. ?
  25. And people wonder why we're quickly growing into a surveillance society... (yes, still growing... it can get worse). Ridiculous. But, last year we had a a few months of significant car thefts and other criminal mischief in the area (very rare). During that I installed a custom security solution to deal with any potential issues that make their way onto my property. We house non-releasable birds of prey on the property and if something were to happen, I'd like to at least have some video evidence along with potential warnings that someone is where they should not be.
