If we actually get to the playoffs, I don't think we see this team get stomped. There'd be just as much emotion as there was in the trouncing of the Dolphins, and this team fed off that like crazy.
-
Honestly, I would've loved to have beaten the Patriots several times in their hayday...but we didn't. I'll gladly take the consolation prize: a 15 year playoff drought ending by way of the end of a dynasty, and being the next big kid on the block.

Yeah I took McCoy first overall. Not so happy I did right now. I got DeMarco Murray for my next pick and he has outperformed in every way possible. like you said, funny how things work out. In the SS league tho, I have DeMarco Murray, and no one else. Matthews is injured, I picked up J. Stewart, he got injured, picked up L. Blount...he's useless lol. At least my Receivers are semi producing.

TAKE THAT TRADE!!

He was used plenty against NY and the Packers I believe, but he barely played against the Jets and I am not certain how much he played in the blowout loss to the Panthers. His breakout game was the first of the season when the Giants decided it was ok to either (a) play a zone defense with only 1 deep safety against Johnson or (b) play single man coverage against Johnson... I'm pretty sure we have the ability to put a hold on major production for him, so long as or DC knows what he's doing. Luckily, he coached the guy for some time. Don't underestimate Jim's return to Detroit.

I really don't think it'll be a romping. As bad as the O-line is, we will have plenty of chances for draws and screens, which, if Geno Smith were a real qb, would've beaten the Lions. However Geno played like Geno does and similar to Manuel threw the game away. The Lions are a beatable team, just ask the Panthers. The Packers and Giants are shells of their former selves, like the Patriots. Those teams can't decide whether or not they actually want to show on any given Sunday. Detroit is just a VERY opportunistic Defense, and if Calvin Johnson isn't doubled, a VERY opportunistic offense.

I think we get charged up and beat the Lions...only barely though. I'm thinking 27-24. Detroit coming off a thorough whoopin' of the Jets, underestimates Buffalo, and is surprised, especially with the new QB in the fold.

Is it punishment if I tell myself I like it? ;) -

Well that's good news. Especially for those of us that are in the Syracuse Market (albeit barely), which is BARELY in the Buffalo market, which gets blacked out towards the end of every season. Maybe this is the start of the end of my frustrations with the last few home games of every season. -
The NFL Speaketh...and apologize.

I do appreciate that haha

And I lost thanks to Davis AND Charles having a great game against Brady...Thanks Vick in a Box.

1) on the penalty in the end zone for going to the knees: you can't slide in like that. That was absolutely the reason for the penalty. If he would've run in, stopped then knelt as he did, it shouldn't have been a penalty. 2) After doing a little research last night/watching old game highlights of Orton, I've come to the following conclusion: He isn't a gunslinger, but he will at least take shots. Also, this is probably some of the best (complete) supporting cast that he's played with (in regards to the running backs & receivers combined). He's had one or the other during his career, but not both IMO. 3) This move is probably a "save the locker room, save my job, try to save the year" move. They want to get to the playoffs, for their job security and for the obvious reason of just getting to the playoffs.

exactly. I don't think I disagree with the call though. I'm kind of indifferent at the moment

that's possible?

I will say he was more apologetic and more "I need to improve" this post game presser than the last few. He also didn't blame everyone but himself this time around... there's a first for everything

So I looked at my credit score (and knowing how much of my credit card is currently being used), and it was a different percentage of utilization than I anticipated. Apparently, USAA automatically increases your credit limit as the life of the card ages, depending on your history etc. I had no idea they did this.

game discussion thread GDT - Sabres at Leafs

I have a hard enough time following stuff here, taking care of my work, and trying to keep up with other news items/with my friends and family. someone who takes the time to compile everything for some of us who are strapped for time is really useful. I have a twitter acct, but I only check it a few times a week. I'm finding myself on facebook less and less even. Social media is becoming too hard to follow. God...I hate being a responsible adult   -
I think the problem is, the more I watch other QBs and other games, and the more I see EJ miss wide open receivers by a mile, the harder it is for me to patient. I was advocating patience at the beginning of the season/in the offseason, but I'm losing my own willpower to stay patient.
-
The thing is we were averaging 6 yards/rush on first down. Even when Houston knew it was coming, they couldn't stop it. Why not run the ball EVERY first down then?! It opens up more play action. we passed WAY too much. EJ can't handle more than 20 something passes a game. He gets in his own head. I was all for giving him time, but thru 4 weeks this season, I'm starting to re-think my thinking.
-
I had them at 2-2 now, and 3-1 next quarter for 5-3 heading into the bye (I said they needed to beat one of Houston/Detroit so that leaves a tall task next week, and I flipped the Chicago/SD games in terms of W/L, and had us beating the Dolphins the whole time). I think beating the Jets, and Vikings will be easier tasks than previously thought (although with the offense performing the way it has, I honestly don't know). So long as we beat one of Detroit/NE, my prediction stays at 9-7 ± 1 win.

1) I'm done waiting for Manuel/making excuses for him. I was all for giving him more time/more games, but my patience is just about gone. I can't stand seeing receivers running wide open, and him check it down or throw 5 yards behind said receiver. He's as bad as post-concussion Edwards at this point 2) Watt is a beast, but it almost seemed as if he was roid raging the entire game. I wouldn't mind him playing for the Bills, and I'm glad we aren't in his division playing him twice a year. 3) Hackett is a slug, and doesn't understand the pro game. He's averaging a ridiculous amount of yards per rush, and he all but abandons the run game, against the one of the worst run defenses in the league! why?! 4) how was that not DPI on the last throw or at least illegal contact? I'm not saying that play lost us the game/the refs were to blame for the game, I just want an answer for consistency purposes. 5) Woods has seemed to give up on Manuel 6) Our O-line needs to step up.

I'll be getting out of here early, then going to watch some High School football where I went to school. A little throwback for my Friday.

Went to the gym this morning. did some cardio (the stair climber) for 10 minutes, then did 10 pullups, then did chest and tricep exercises. upped my max on the bench, and DAMN did it feel good. Closed out with a 5 minute run. I feel like a boss this morning while everyone flocks to the free donuts for doughnut Friday that work provides B-)

Got denied yet another Waiver wire pickup (x2)!
