  1. My unsung guys Levi and Quinn looking very good early. Devon 1.40 GAA, .950 SP, 3 SO in 5 games. Jack 4 goals 2 assists, +4 in 3 games.
  2. Bryson to me has been a revelation this year, especially after the horrific preseason game he had against PIttsburgh. The ESPN guys were drooling over Matt Grzelcyk in the Bruins game but Bryson was every bit as good and seems to be following a similar path. I’m starting to feel like it’s safe to say we’ve finally hit on a mid-rounder.
  3. Agreed. Dahlin is a great skater, but he is not a fast skater.
  4. Culture and time for more talented players to develop at minimal cap commitment.
  5. Would I like him to make other players afraid? Sure. Would I like having a Brad May around to make the Marchand’s pay? Sure. But I dont see a significant problem here. So far this season, Dahlin has not bailed out or played scared in the face of thuggery. On the contrary, he’s pushed back, kept skating, kept moving the puck and kept being good on stopping rushes and elite in transition. He’s been the Sabres best player.
  6. I think this is a reasonable take on what the Pegulas might be thinking. But when does the statute of limitations expire on 2? Because 3 might be apples and oranges, but it fails to account for the fact that the alternative to the bolded is, at best, paying Jack Eichel $12.5 million after insurance to rot, and any collateral damage that goes with it. I guess I am of the belief that the risk/reward of allowing ADR is a better bet for the Sabres than the risk/reward of the status quo. But it all comes down your first point, and that’s why people’s mileage may vary.
  7. There’s 1 point we probably didn’t deserve. Why not make it 2?
  8. Yep. You can see some fatigue but they haven’t stopped working. Tokarski is a throwback. As in to the days when goalies had no technique but did everything they could to stop the puck. Scary as hell. But so far it works.
  9. Dahlin again defending the rush well.
  10. Bjork is going to have trouble staying in the lineup when Eakin and Casey come back.
  11. I’m a fan of Dawson Mercer’s game. Hed make a good Granato Sabre We’re doing a good job finding the 3rd man for a good shot off the rush.
  12. Butcher nice effort there to stop the rush and turn it around. But it worked because of the backcheck support.
  13. Cozens looks like he’s got it going again tonight.
  14. His puck-carrying ability stands out, even at the NHL level. I think he’s a keeper. Certainly our best 4th-rounder in a decade.
  15. Penguins minor league coach repeated groped his assistant coach’s wife. Complaint was made to Guerin, who allegedly covered it up. Safesport investigation now underway, Guerin’s role with US Olympic team being questioned. Circumstances have been public for a year due to lawsuit against the Pens, news is the Safesport probe.
  16. Tnere’s no probably about it and there never has been.
  17. Surprised to see some on here disappointed with Dahlin’s game. Is it just because Marchand knocked him down? He was as good at playing the man as I’ve ever seen him. There was a zone entry stop on Pastrnak that looked like Chara versus George Constanza. And his passing, puck-carrying and zone exits were generally sublime. I’ve been so happy with the confidence in his play.
  18. That was my position on this situation up until about August. It changed because of the evidence: not one single team has stepped up. From what we hear, far from all-in, the offers have been laughable. The best answer I’ve seen is @nfreeman’s the risk is enough that it demands a discount, either in cash, players or both. To the waiting part, I don’t see any scenario that results in Eichel getting fusion. We live in a world where 25 per cent of the American population is refusing to vaccinate despite far more scientific evidence and social pressure to do so than Eichel faces in his ADR stance. His stance isn’t a calculated lever, it’s a strongly held personal belief. I think some one will give up the Crown Jewels for Jack if TP assumes the financial risk, especially once Jack is back on the ice and looking like Jack.
  19. In your view, is the best course of action to simply wait because eventually a team will pay the asking price, or Jack will acquiesce to fusion?
  20. Yes, that’s exactly what I thought you were saying. Im saying the Pegulas have the money. Right now they are spending it on nothing and their Crown Jewel is worthless. And Im asking why, if another owner is willing to take the risk, why shouldn’t Terry?
  21. No I agree 100 %. I mean generally it’s hard to objectively “prove” one NHL coach is better than another - Julien is better/worse than Ducharme, for example. That’s what makes the Granato/Krueger thing so odd in the scope of the NHL. The gap is so easy to prove.
  22. I don’t know if it equals “build” but Hall, Foligno, Smith, Haula, Ullmark, Nosek, Forbert, Moore constitute about 1/3 of that roster. About 1/3 of the roster - 9 players - are draft picks.
