There is a zero percent chance that this is accurate. Every swede that was even remotely good at hockey would defect in juniors.

And if they violate IIHF rules, they could be ineligible for the Olympics, correct? If this is the case, I don't see any RUS players risking it. Not with the Games 13 months away.

It's a one time thing, right?

Look at the states that Obama won, but have a vast majority GOP congressional delegation. Remember, the Democrats won nearly all the competitive districts, received more congressional votes than the GOP in total, and STILL didn't even come close to regaining the Majority. Gerrymandering is some strong stuff. Pennsylvania (13-5), Ohio (12-4), Indiana (7-2), Michigan (9-5), Wisconsin (5-3), Virginia (8-3), and Florida (17-10). All went for the president, all will send significant GOP majorities to in their delegations to this congress. This is a direct result of each having GOP governors and GOP state legislatures when districts were redrawn after the 2010 census. And It's not that the voters wanted to keep Obama but have GOP legislatures. Every one of these 7 states sent a Democrat to the Senate this election. You can't gerrymander in the Senate. And I agree, if these districts were more competitive, there would be different candidates. If you look at Pennsylvania, the congressional vote state wide was 51%-49% in favor of the GOP, yet the delegation to the 113th congress is 72%-28% GOP. On top of that, all but one of the 18 Representatives won by more than a 10 point margin. They have no threat from the other side, their only challenge would be in a primary, so there is a huge disincentive to compromise, your primary challenger would use it against you next cycle. You can't even use the "they both do it" argument here, as not a single state went the other way. All the Romney states will send GOP delegations. Or at least, we can't say "both are equally good at it."

TrueBlue might be able to speak more succinctly to the issue, but I believe that the 2 party system is the inevitable result of the manner in which our elections are structured. If we had proportional representation, or alternative voting, other parties would have a chance at emerging, but the system as it is set up by the constitution, with geographic congressional districts and "winner take all" electoral college, 2 parties is as inevitable as death and taxes, regardless of whether the electorate wants it or not. To change this, we would have to change the basic structure of the legislature and how we vote for president by constitutional amendment. This guys explains it pretty well: http://www.youtube.com/course?list=EC7679C7ACE93A5638

The lawsuit filed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania against the NCAA, if it makes it to a decision, could end up creating some interesting case law. Should the courts side with the Commonwealth, the NCAA's ability to sanction any school for the acts of former employees could be called into question. In other words, all a school would need to do is fire the offender, and they'd get off the hook.
