This is not a defense of the bills, that the call came then is merely chance, it easily could have come the day before. The bills exposed themselves to this risk, because they didn't do enough background, imo, because they didn't understand the critical importance of having EXACTLY the right guy under center.

This Friday, in the middle of the brief period where Upstate NY's weather does it's best impression of San Diego, with a fridge full of grill-able food and a fresh bag of charcoal. F'N Fantastic. Other things that are F'N Fantastic: My wife started a web design and marketing business in September, and has grown it exponentially in the last 3 months. She is now fully booked through July. After everything that happened last year, between the move, her uncle dying, failing to sell our house for 12 months, living with my parents while expecting our 3rd child. It's F'n Fantastic to see things coming our way like a stampede.

Pegula lobbied lawmakers at HSBC Arena on fracking in NYS

Yes, and you don't get the chance to persuade without access, and you don't get access without money for campaign contributions or SuperPAC donation. -
No question about the Grand Scheme of Things. Definately the right pick, but the whole situation shows that this team's lack of understanding about the primary importance of the Quarterback Position goes back to it's inception.
-
I get the no-lose situation at 12 because they could have picked Marino or Kelly at 14. But that was a false option. In reality, they only had a chance at Marino. If they had done their homework, they would have known that. Had the USFL not collapsed, that pick would have been a disaster.

*not an actual draft "pick" - territorial selection

Has anyone pointed out that we are all pulling for the islanders to at least make the Eastern Conference Finals? Then Minnesota's #16 becomes #15.

I mentioned this in another thread, but I thought it might be worth noting here: EJ Manuel is the first Quarterback that the Buffalo Bills have selected with their first draft pick...ever.

Both kids would have to be unable tfo reproduce for Darwin to be satisfied.

Now it's run by a committee selected by Jeremy Jacobs and the NHLPA head. By not raising revenue, the Sabres would effectively be taking money out of both their pockets. My assumption is that the committee for Revenue Sharing would punatively make the Sabres increase their revenues to something around all the missed increases to get out of jail. In addition, not increasing the ticket prices while the costs go up, would also make the team unsavory in a sale. It's not just that the new hypothetical owner would have to raise prices to get revenue sharing, they'd have to do it to break-even, even if the committee grants them lenience on past sins. Rev sharing or not, ticket revenues would be 50% below par after 10 years.

Come on! Everyone's woke up next to a bucket of yuck at some point in their lives.

He fell on the grenade.

I'll be more professional in front of Judge Smell. My apologies.

You go blind?

Say he owns the team for 10 years and doesn't raise the ticket prices. The new guy would have to raise ticket prices 50% just to qualify for revenue sharing. Also, by raising the ticket prices, he is increasing the salary cap. Not raising the prices would actually hurt the product on the ice.

Justice requires Darcy be removed. I don't believe there are strong arguments against that. Hope does not. Because 17 years of negligence and occasional treason may call for Darcy's dismissal, does not automatically eliminate that his current actions are not taking the team in the right direction. They are separate issues, as Jean Valjean will attest.

You think he's wrong to keep Darcy. I agree. It all starts there. The whole hockey department is a reflection of the GM, and from assistant coaches to trainers to scouts I have real questions about this group's glaring errors. If Pegula disagrees with me, so be it. I still believe there is some chance, maybe around 25%, that Darcy will be able to build a cup competitive team. That's too low for me, but at least it's still worth watching. I compare it to the 0% chance the Bills have had of being competitive every year since Kelly retired, a team that until this season had NEVER taken a quarterback with their first pick. Pegula obviously thinks Darcy will do it. Do you think Pegula agrees that Darcy is not the right guy, and is keeping him anyway?
-
OSP will buy the team back immediately ifyou want. Do you want?

TBP, I apologize, I'll try not to let it happen again.

I stand by my assertion that Grigorenko lost a year of development because the team around him was incapable of possessing the puck. This was due to a severe lack of forward talent. That can only be blamed on Darcy Regier. 3 deadlines and 2 off seasons is plenty of time to fill out a roster enough to have middling possession numbers.

9th, 16th, 21st? They got significantly worse.

If by improved you mean gone from 2.99 gpg in 2010-2011 to 2.65 gpg in 2011-2012 to 2.60 gpg in 2013 then it's totally improved.
