  1. this. otherwise it is going to be a loooooong break before the actual deadline
  2. i definitely do not think we should put him in at all next year. ahl may be a good choice, but putting him with the projected line up of tank nation next year i would think would be damaging. its actually not even fair to throw enroth in full time either. he will get slaughtered... i think having an experienced FA goalie and enroth splitting time is a much better scenario. even if the goal is tank.
  3. this is my guess as well. and i am fine with that. i do not want to give anything up for him. and i wouldn't mind him on the team. even as an overpayment. although i really want the sabres to tank next season and pick up....well...you know
  4. very good point, i keep forgetting this, and this is truly possible. all indications are that we are going to sell moulson, and if for some reason we cannot, we are going to sign him. that is the way i had read TMs comments on the UFAs. i guess we will see. either way, i dont think we lose is more of what i wanted to say. wasnt raffi torres injured when we traded for him? hurt wrist or something?
  5. this is my guess. also, even if we dont trade moulson, we can still sign him. which i think still puts us in the win column.
  6. i would think a smaller rink would be easier for a goalie. any goalies out there think so? beat me to it
  7. YES! lets hope they get a first round pick from 2015 back, keep this years pick, tank next year too, and we get mcdavid and eichel! go sabres.....one can dream
  8. i feel the opposite, they simply cannot give up talent that would be a top 5 pick this year after giving up moulson and missing out on vanek(assuming they dont sign him.) i just cannot see how they could justify it even though mcdavid is coming next year. but i do understand why you have a solid argument, apparently this mcdavid guy is pretty good ;)
  9. i just noticed this too. 3 losses in a row for them. 8 points out of 6th. they are going to have a hard time getting to 7/8 if you ask me. i just dont see them finishing out better than the devils/ottawa. this is good news.
  10. thanks! any very interesting that they vocalized a trade and resign option. i really feel like moulson and ott could possibly go the exact same route. it would be cool to sign them all to one year deals for the next three years and constantly ship them out at the deadline for goodies, then resign the next summer! hahahah. of course it will never happen but it would be cool if it did.
  11. I understand why that generally is true. And maybe you didn't hear the interview that I did which would lead you to not believe me. But it seemed quite clear. Obviously a plan can change but this plan looks set and stating otherwise is the real fabrication imo. All these thoughts of being competitive next year are just one of the stages of denial as posted above. I suggest watching the interview in the murray thread . Then give us your interpretation. Honestly not meant to be snarky. I'm curious how it could be in tree expected any nn other way Auto correct. Interpreted not In tree expected
  12. my interpretation of what he said was this..." we are selling our players. Molson, ott, miller because we can get these same character guys back via FA. We are going to tank next year as well and make a run for a top pick. Then we will add some FAs and make some trades of our prospects to bring in solid talent. We dont want to be tanking for many years. But one more is well worth it. We want a cup. And this seems like the most solid route to it. If people are upset about tanking....play fantasy hockey. " Again just my opinion but it seemed pretty obvious they plan to tank one.more year and then begin to put the pieces in place to START being competitive. Understandingn it may take ano th er year or two to become truly competitive. Embrace the tank. Go sabres thank you. Agreed
  13. Murray all but said we are going for a high pick next year. He said there are was to manipulate your standings at the trade deadline to insure a higher draft pick. And also that next year holds the elite talent and that they are looking to get said talent. Embrace the tank next year. It is happening. Which imo means miller is gone. This has been stated. Keep calm and carry on. Mcdavid 2014
  14. fair enough. pretty well thought out response. he seems to want to be a star in the nhl without developing into one. hopefully he realizes we want him to be a star as well, but that it will take time.
  15. i agree. he does still need to man up and report, i just feel for the kid. never given a shot on a top line here just to even SEE what happens, and well....we all know what has happened. i guess we will see. i just feel like we will not get a return for him that will be worth it and it will bite us in the bum.
  16. this. we have so little talent at forward and we just give up on a kid that has been jerked around left and right since the moment he became a part of this club. it is embarrassing.
  17. this blows. i really dont want to trade him. if it was his agent that put him up to this, then @#$% that agent. i really feel grigo is going to be something special. what a mess. what a @#$%ing mess.
  18. yep. this is the year to buyout if we are going to. awesome
  19. yeah, thats kind of the only scenario i would expect for that too. i sort of feel like that is an option they may try to go down since murray said he prefers quality over quantity. im just not sure if another team would buy in to a deal like that. im not sure how i feel about this. if we get first over all, i would really hope we take SR. he did say that they way you build is by drafting well. if you draft well you can make better moves (trades?). so again if we have first overall he may select Ekbald and then we have 5,000 d men in the system. do when then trade away one of our further along guys and wait for ekbald to get up to speed? or i guess trade down a spot and get SR along with another pick or prospect?
  20. i was thinking about this as well this morning...but in regard to all of our 2nd round picks. do you think we could trade a couple of our seconds for a teams 1st next year?
  21. best interview i have heard so far. thanks for posting. it sounds to me as though we can say goodbye to Ott, Moulson, and Miller. he says they are great character guys, but he is smart enough to know we can replace them with other character veterans to lead the kids. also it is very much in the plans to tank next season and go after mcdavid. even using the word "manipulate" in reference to you standings position when approaching the deadline. must say that i really like the way he presents himself. no dodging. just answers honestly and it all makes good sense. also his opinion on player movement...he will be deciding who is in the lineup. answered that in one word "yes". so i guess grigo is getting sent back down for sure, seeing as though he doesnt want young guys playing 2 mins a game.
  22. considering it is a defenseman vs. our top center. yes. and i dont really care either way. just pointing it out.
  23. exaggerate? care to explain? our old defenseman has more points than anyone on our team. thats 7G 16A 23pts....closest player on the sabres is hodgson 8G 11A 19pts
  24. sekera has more points than anyone on our team....by a lot.
