  1. I don’t know about that last part. Was it not apparent to you that Mittlestadt’s play was better than last season? Even his last preseason? Was it not apparent that Cozens looked a bit out of place? Is it not appropriate to alter your pre-preseason thoughts accordingly in at least these cases? No, that game was not the final arbiter for these or any other player, but if the game is meaningless for judgement purposes why is Kreuger scheduling them and why would he impress upon the players to take that game more seriously?
  2. It may not mean much in terms of how the team plays this season. It means something in terms of beating out others for an opening night spot. Limited opportunities to show the team in game situations where you stack up relative to others. Limited opportunities to show under fire that you understand the system and how you fit in it.
  3. I agree with most of this. Tage showed up looking to win a spot on the roster, and did, maybe even a spot on the top line. Mitts showed improvement. He obviously put in the work this offseason. I'm not sure it's enough, but he's improved his positional play a fair amount. Cozens looked overmatched. That surprised me given that he's been playing at a high level for weeks now. Skinner looked like he had something else he wanted to do last night. Roots didn't impress. Neither did Asplund. I don't think Asplund is going to be an NHL'er. Okposo still has gas in the tank. Staal and Reinhart look like they could be lethal. Reider has a nice shot. The defence will be fine.
  4. After one scrimmage and minimal practice time with the team (but he's been playing at a higher intensity level than everyone else for weeks now) it sure looked like Mitts was more ready than Cozens. I wasn't impressed at all with Mitts work on the O zone. I was impressed with the improvement in his overall positional play. How's your confidence level if it goes Skinner - Mitts- Sheahan, bucause I think that's more likely at this moment.
  5. I seem to recall that the last complaint to be heard resulted in the judge threatening sanction.
  6. Skinner looked disinterested at times.
  7. Haven’t been able to pay as much attention as I’d like. From the glimpses I’ve seen Cozens doesn’t look quite ready. Is that what others are seeing or did I miss the good stuff?
  8. Sure. trump can't. I was referring to all of the Trumpians in government who knew the claims of fraud were bull ***** and still cried "the sky is falling".
  9. I didn't comment on whether the court cases should have been heard. Yes, I agree, Donald had a right to file a grievance, to have his day in court. And the courts did what was expected of them. Sincerity matters, however, in our leaders messages regarding those court cases. They all knew it was bull *****, but whipped up the masses anyway. It was our leaderships responses to court cases they knew to be long shots based on slim technicalities with no evidence that put us here today. Sure, let him have his day in court, but recognize and acknowledge that the cases were without any real legs.
  10. What does Allen need to do to be 1st team all pro? Wow.
  11. We were early adopters for sure. Don't recall who started it. It's become a favorite of mine over the years.
  12. Totally disagree with the first half phrase. There is a point to it. The point is quite revolutionary. You should be concerned. You should not minimize this. This movement has the support of law enforcement. The coup they are attempting will spill blood. And it just may change a bunch of people in government because it does have backing. This is serious whether the initial attempts were substantial or not. This was always serious. And that is why you were getting so much flack previously.
  13. While it was inspired by the content of your post, my post was not directed at you.
  14. I got 99 problems and the NHL ain't one?
  15. I understand the "let's see how the courts play out". But Sabel79 is absolutely correct. There was nothing sincere about the effort. Between the unproven claims in 2016 and the scorned-in-court claims in 2020 AND the simple fact that many of the states that went for Trump used the same machines, same early and mail in voting rules, and same late voting changes in response to a pandemic and not ONE individual that challenged the votes in MI, PA, GA, AZ, etc was interested in challenging the same machines, rules, and changes in the states that went for Trump. How sincere could the quest for justice really be when you are only seeking it on one side of the aisle? If you couldn't see the insincerity you weren't opening your eyes. And if you could see it and gave Trump the benefit of the doubt you were complicit. The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.
  16. Yup, the Capital police were definitely taking sides. From Twitter: And this one too. Cops letting the rioters in:
  17. Doomed? No. In a spiral? Yes. Can we pull out of it? It's gonna take some very skilled pilots. For months I've been saying this won't end well. I'm sorry to not be wrong. It's seemed obvious to me that the end result, hell, the endgame, was escalation up to this point. Trump's been egging on the egg heads for about 5 years now. Lock her up turned to stop the steal turned to march on the Capitol. So we had armed invaders with restraints wearing thin blue line punisher badges. That explains why virtually no shots were fired. Law Enforcement picked sides. And we wonder why the BLM movement was so intense.

    Goal Song

Catchy, campy, upbeat, obnoxious ear worm, nobodies favorite. I think this one fills the bill.

I’m with ubkev on this. Individual goal songs.
  20. Or he had to showcase him for the trade. That would explain the snapped answer.
  21. And I am off work today. Awesome sauce.
  22. I am amazed at the loyalists thanking Trump for standing up for "freedom" instead of recognizing it for what it really was, an attempt to strong arm an election he didn't win. I don't understand it at all. He said in plain speech that he wants GA to "find" enough votes to change the results, not find the fraud. Find the votes. This is surreal. Where the hell are Republicans in Congress speaking out regarding this? Either come out of the shadows and show your support for it or denounce it for what it is. Spineless.
  23. Yes, not enough scoring depth was definitely a primary issue, but Jack said himself (and so did Ralph) at the end of last season that the team needed veteran leadership and grit. He said they needed to be older and tougher next season. As much as the moves made in the offseason addressed goals, it also addressed a lack of experience handling the big moments and issues that arise during the course of a season that can waylay an inexperienced team. Don't discount that there is likely equal benefit from bringing in a few gristled vets who can show a young team how to get out of a funk as there is in bringing in a second set of goal scorers.
  24. Agreed on automatic voter registration. I think its been made perfectly clear over the last 2 election cycles that there is a disincentive on the GOP side to maximize voter turn out. Consequently, any changes that increase voter participation will be met with extreme resistance.
  25. I ask again, by what mechanism can voters demand better candidates?
