  1. Something, something, narrative, something….
  2. Girgensons is not, and never was, a player who needs a “fresh start”. His attitude, demeanor, and effort had always been 100%. That should never be the stated motivation for moving him.
  3. I did listen. I expect there would be fans brutalizing him. It's the players doing it that raised an eyebrow for me.
  4. For me, it comes down to is the mentoring and possible winning more valuable to the kids we have now than the pick is going to be later? There is alot of value in the mentoring, and alot of value in finishing the season strong.
  5. Yeah, it is rather apparent that a lot of his former teammates don''t have alot of respect for him.
  6. I dunno. The wood Hespeler in my basement didn’t have a flex rating.
  7. He was trying to Eichel Dahlin!
  8. I thought that too, but after listening to the post game interviews I am changing my mind regarding just how good guys like Eakin are in the room. He was praised very highly in the one interview in particular. Like, they went out of their way to give it.
  9. The old days included credible government threats to family. It very effectively kept Russian athletes in Russia right up until the wall in Germany came down. After Mogilny’s defection, there was a time where he was exhibiting bizarre behavior, like not traveling with the team due to a sudden fear of flying. There was more than a little speculation that he was receiving threats from the Motherland.
  10. Yeah. Def cold war vibe. I wouldn’t be surprised if Russian athletes are going to be effectively locked out of western leagues.
  11. Hiney appears to be a glue guy. Okposo for sure.
  12. Well, that was fun. I'm sure I am not saying anything original, but I am loving the lack of respect the Sabres are showing other teams stars these last couple of games. Definitely a bit of a chip on their shoulders against Eichel and Matthews. And they definitely looked good on a national stage both times.
  13. Now THAT would have been ballsy and NFG. Would make an interesting alternative history discussion. What kind of haul could we have received for that pick?
  14. I don’t think anyone has denied that TM brought in the worst possible personalities to pair with our tankfruit. The idea was sound (and we really need to do the same this offseason), but the selection of people was very regrettable.
  15. This is silly, really.
  16. Acne comments were quickly jumped on as being out of line.
  17. A star player who fans had an emotional attachment to due to what they went through to get him, asks to be moved, wonders why the interest in his return game is higher than normal? This is pathetic? It’s about the most human reaction I can think of. His entire time here was emotionally charged.
  18. What is pathetic about it? People wanted to see his return. Its no different than crowds increasing because McDavid is in town, or Crosby. They aren’t cheering those two either, but they come to see him. The crowds were bigger when Boston came too. They were there to boo Lucic and The Nose, and hopefully watch our team embarrass them. Same difference. He’s The Enemy now.
  19. If there is one word we can definitely use to describe Jack, entitled is likely the correct one.
  20. Yeah, thats a step I’m not willing to take.
  21. No specific stories. The entire hour was reaction to last night. The one thing I took from it that I most strongly expect is coming from good, personal insight was Gionta’s comments that Jack looked rattled, and it didn’t surprise him that Jack got rattled and handled it poorly both on and off ice. He said that Jack doesn’t know how to handle adversity. He theorized why, but that part is pure speculation. The lack of surprise regarding Jack’s ability to handle adversity to me had weight because it came from a guy who experienced it directly.
  22. Anyone following my lead only has themselves to blame.
