  1. This really is it for this team. They have to make the playoffs. Will they? Probably not. A lot of other teams need to falter. But it’s time to put up or shut up. This also has to be Adams last chance. If we go on another 8 plus winless streak it’s just not acceptable.
  2. Connor wants to stay. He’s the one who directed this contract and him only. Bowman is the recipient. CM is giving him two years extra to get them over the hump. If he doesn’t do it, McDavid is so gone after this extension. I don’t think this is a big wow on the GM. If CM wanted to be highest paid player, he’d be that. He’s driving this to help them get better.
  3. Bowman didnt didn’t do diddly. McDavid dictated this. He is giving Stan this small window to surround him with better players. Anyone could have signed him to this deal.
  4. Translation: Make this team better or I’m gone!
  5. Canadian friends. Remember Amanda Marshall? She was in town opening for Bryan Adams but before that show, she played a free mini show at Red Bird Brewing. My friend works there and saved us two seats. Incredible voice. Fantastic 5 song set.
  6. Wow, reading that list of goalies and defense is absolutely sad. No wonder they’re where they’re at.
  7. Not sure why I got eye rolled emojid (how will I survive) All I passed on was a scout, who probably wasn’t a goalie scout for the team that drafted Levi, told me not to get too excited about him. Mentioned his lack of size as a starting point, and had other comments to go along with it. This was after I had mentioned my excitement of him signing. As for him moving on to another organization? I didn’t do a deep dive on why he moved on or whose choice it was. All I know is he’s a scout who lives in my ‘hood in off season, is good enough to be employed as a NHL SCOUT, and he told me don’t get your hopes up on Levi. So far, said scout, is accurate on his point.
  8. Re: Levi. I know a guy who was a Florida scout and he has since moved on to Washington. We were having a beer in Kelowna and I mentioned Levi. He told me, don’t get your hopes up on him.
  9. I live within a 2 minute walk to the Memorial Cup hosts this year, Kelowna, and my buddy is 50’ drive away in Penticton. I typically don’t go to games, Rockets have been shyte lately, but maybe I will take in a few more as they’ll be gearing up their squad to make a run for the Cup.
  10. If Mrtka goes back to Seattle, I could be seeing him Nov 7. They play Penticton and my buddy got tix for it already.
  11. Mtrka will surely be sent to Seattle for another year in junior, no?
  12. If Josh stays healthy, the cozens trade is gonna look so good. He’s a way better player than Dylan. If.
  13. Damn, Suter would’ve been a nice pickup for Sabres. Good move by Blues.
  14. Suter announcement imminent and it’s not Canucks.
  15. Well, they clearly don’t want to keep him so they let him walk. It’s not the end of the world.
  16. I’ll say this, he articulated the moves and the freeing up cap space, very well. He explained what could have happened had they not made more room as some team would’ve hooped them with a Bo offer sheet. Now they have the space to take it in the chin if need be and quite possibly have another team set his next contract. If he’s not offer sheeted he can try to sign him longer term and is happy to keep him. It’s definitely showed some foresight which I’m not so sure he’s used in the past. His JBD explanation was excellent. Not a lot of teams got better yesterday. I wouldn’t say Buffalo worse. They definitely got harder to play against, on paper. Hopefully he can swing a few more moves to help this team get further along. Defensively we are better. That’s not a bad thing.
  17. Sabres brass does t even have today on their to do list. They just sit back and laugh at the other teams having to work today.
  18. He didn’t look thrilled to be chosen Buffalo. Maybe it’s his Eastern European heritage or maybe bummed the Kraken passed on him.
  19. Getting a big rhd who likes to use his size and is a huge organizational need, and a two way player with good pedigree and likes to be a pain to play against, over a brooding (and if Peters and Rivet are right, a party animal) bad body language, one way player who had a fantastic end to the season. (7 of his last 11 goals came in losses) Some are too enamored with how many goals and assists JJ had. He’s good player but we got better imo by becoming harder to play against and a change in culture. More moves come and this will look even better.
  20. Guys, I’m ok with this. 6’5” RD 215 lbs entering his prime. Plus Doan. This is ok with me on all fronts. This helps balance our team out, with more moves to come. JJ had a career year 5v5 and he won’t match that again.
  21. Mogilny was in a odd predicament if my memory serves me. Wasn’t that the year that no matter what happened in the final 10-15 games the Sabres were too far behind to catch team ahead but also far ahead of the team behind them that they couldn’t be caught? (I just checked and they were 0-7 in April, and finished 16 behind Montreal and 28 ahead of Hartford) I wondered how that affected his/their play? Like did he/they let up and if so did it adversely affect his final tally? By looking at the way they limped in to the playoffs I’d say it most certainly had a negative effect. I do recall Selanne scored on final day and that later that day Almo had to score two to tie him. It’s always bugged me that TS tied him in goals. Standing alone would’ve been even more impactful.
  22. My favourite player and in ‘99 my first born was named Alexander!
  23. Thank goodness and about time. The HHOF is back to meaning something again. Every year he’s been left out the inductions have meant less and less. Two new members had to have swayed the vote finally. Iginla and Eddie O.
  24. Vegas can’t help themselves? You say this like it’s a bad thing. Think what you like but Sabres could only dream to have ownership and a GM doing whatever it takes to be relevant year in year out with a chance to win. Marner to Vegas would be a huge move for them and he’s younger and better than Hertl. Great moves if they happen.
