No interest, Rangers fans talk about him like we had with Ristolainen. "Should play wing" "Braindead guy that can hit" "Overhyped"

Are there major changes coming this summer and who will make them?
thewookie1 replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
I’ve seen plenty of Bruins fans say that, maybe not always reaching the playoff level but 9th/10th in the Conference. Dahlin’s injury isn’t the sole reason we missed but certainly was part of it. Devaluing to that of a mere excuse is falling far short of the impact his injury from Training Camp to near January was in reducing his effectiveness when he played. Not to mention his 10 game IR stint coincides perfectly with our losing streak. Hell, the game he left in, we had a 5-1 lead and in the 20min he was gone they blew the game in regulation. Dahlin’s injury can be both a large factor to missing without discounting the sheer ineptitude that was shown while he was gone. No player should be so important to a team that his injury leads to zero win effort in that time. That streak soured me on Byram and made me start to genuinely question Power’s level of Dman. Both can play great offensively but with Dahlin out neither stepped up to fill the gap. I only give Power a small bit of a mulligan because he had stepped up as a rookie when Dahlin missed a game against Tampa and Power played one of his best games that year. But it does feel a tad worrying that Power’s willingness to make contact and his defensive IQ has cratered more each year. His shot has gotten better but otherwise he’s regressed in defensive situations. As for Byram it all but made him a passenger; with Dahlin he’s great but otherwise he’s a liability. No matter how great your top pairing is, neither player should have such a dependence on their partner that if one goes down the other goes limp like a puppet without a puppeteer. Your #2 needs the ability to cover the #1 role for some time when the situation arises. Power already has the role of #3 Offensive D locked in and his play doesn’t falter regardless of partner. He’s good offensively, bad defensively. Byram while more physical seems more often than not incapable of playing with any other Dman aside from Dahlin. -
Friedman- Sabres looking to move prospects for players

Either that or teams are trying to poach him from us -
I wish Marchand wasn't asking for 3x8mil, otherwise I'd sign him in a heartbeat and let him teach Benson his ways

Damn Oilers, Corey Perry is Mr. Cup Finals

Sabres announce Jarmo Kekalainen Hired as Senior Advisor
thewookie1 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
That was definitely a part of it There were also disagreements on how much ownership had access to the players. A specific example was from a Sabres team visit to the Pegula music label venue in Nashville the night prior to an 8pm game. Kim pulled the wife of owner card on Lafontaine who refused to let the players go. (Quite honestly from what I know of this story, the Pegulas weren’t in the wrong in this instance; however it may have soured them on Presidents of Hockey Ops) Apparently LaFontaine did have some, likely CTE caused, issues which caused further friction with Kim Pegula. Particularly in terms of interpersonal interactions between the two in regards to non-direct hockey related matters. Tim Murray would later sink his own ship in part thanks to his own personal interactions with Kim. She was seen as a Black Widow to some but was respected by others. Terry has looked at the Sabres franchise as a privileged fan. He hired Lafontaine based on a dinner with one of his favorite players. Like us, he wants the whole behind the scenes experience and all but demands it outright. How many here, given the option, wouldn’t want to be in on all the going’s and comings of the team while also not having any particular job responsibilities? Like many fans however he’s lost some interest in the Sabres “toy” and doesn’t quite grasp how he is part of the problem with the team. -
I'm sorry but again, we do have some playoff vets on our team. It's not feasible to make this team brimming with playoff experience and rarely do first time playoff groups have half-plus their roster as playoff vets.
-
Then you must be purposely ignorant. We have a handful of players whom have already played well in the playoffs with other teams. Dahlin has most certainly shown up in big games, the Carolina game from the close year being a perfect example Thompson shows flashes We can't truly know until we actually make it.

Again ill never judge the difference based on playoff games. Players go a full 100% in the playoffs versus 75% to 85% in the regular season most nights

Jason Robertson rumored to be on the trade block

I’d need a bit more back but the idea is solid. -
Who’s the guy here who does the physicals with the players? Get us some stories 🙂

Jason Robertson rumored to be on the trade block
thewookie1 replied to inkman's topic in The Aud Club
https://puckgm.puckpedia.com/rosters/612790 We'd need to jump through some hoops next offseason but we'd be in the clear in 27-28. Using some deferred salary I gave Tuch 8.35mil cap hit Robertson we give 1x9.5mil with the intention to offer 8x11.5mil the following year. Essentially we'd just have to convince him that are tight this offseason but great in 2 years. -

Biggest issue with Robertson is he’s 1 year to UFA and he’s going to be looking for Dahlin money which we don’t exactly have -
Matthew Fairburn Latest Article regarding Terry Pegula and Adams
thewookie1 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Technically Adams would be closer to the truth based on those specific phrasing. You don't choose to win, you can choose to try to win but you can't just state you'll win and will it into existence. Winning is a byproduct of many different elements coming together to create success; continued success is neither aligned nor unaligned with immediate winning but are not directly linked. The problem is that Adams keeps using bad ingredients to make his Sabres Pie. -
Matthew Fairburn Latest Article regarding Terry Pegula and Adams
thewookie1 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
I decided to read the article and then just file it away. It paints such a bleak picture that one could easily just throw up their arms in surrender because it effectively tells us the Buffalo Sabres only hope of having success is via a 1 in a Million set of circumstances playing out. Otherwise the franchise itself would have to be sold to another owner and that would have a high likelihood of it being moved which defeats the purpose. Hell I'm still concerned as to what will happen when Pegula dies seeing as his estate would have to split his assets which not only would put the Sabres in jeopardy but the Bills as well. -

Pegula puts his money into the Bills because it prints more money; he personally involves himself in the Sabres because he believes himself to be an asset -
Dahlin actually looks better on his off-side It would take some cap finagling but I'd be happy to give him a shot. Let him and UPL compete
-
Ironic how it worked in either context lol

Forgot he's a Syracuse boy

Good luck, Post Malone is definitely one of those "Don't judge a book by its cover" guys. He looks kind of scary but seems to genuinely be a good dude; hell he was a YouTuber with a couple friends originally.

How would you retool this team this summer?
thewookie1 replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
I love the idea of Ekblad but can’t fathom how to piece together a roster with 3 D making about 27mil My 1st priority is extending Tuch and figuring out Peterka’s ask. Want a bridge of 2x6.5 JJ? Sure. 7 x 7.5 mil, why thank you; we accept. If he wants 3/4 years or some 9+ mil AAV then I look to trade him. The issue is less this season but more next year with money thanks to our “ingenious” buyout of Skinner. If we didn’t want to use the savings then we should have waited a year. -

Here's another idea, it gives us a solid team with potential and depth. https://puckgm.puckpedia.com/rosters/602182 Quinn has to earn his way back into the starting role, but I would like a chance to try him with Rossi and see if they can bring back their old 67's chemistry -

I’d rather keep Peterka but I saw an offer that was pretty good Rossi, Spacek and a 26 2nd for Peterka and our 26 3rd Rossi wants 7x7mil It would all depend on Peterka’s ask.
