Anyone like my idea?
-
Ok here's my idea: Trade our 2nd rounder to Pittsburgh for the 22nd overall and Rob Scuderi(cap dump) Trade Winnipeg's 2nd rounder and our 3rd rounder to San Jose for the 20th overall and Havlat (cap dump) Trade Ehrhoff, Buf's 5th rounder, and the Pittsburgh pick to Anaheim for Ottawa's 10th pick, and Anaheim's 24th overall and a conditional 4th that could become as high as a 2nd in the 2015 draft. That'd give you 2,10, 20, and 24

I'd never trade Myers in the division, it certainly didn't work for Ottawa when they let Chara go to Boston
-
May I ask why is Myers still being shopped by half the forum? Also, I don't care what Ottawa would give me for Myers (aside Karlsson), I wouldn't trade him within the division and preferably the conference if possible.

Not only do I love the McDavid pick :) but I love how in this scenario we're back at the podium by #5
-
They both could be busts as well...... I can comprehend risking a 12th overall on a questionable player with high potential but not at 2nd overall

No Drasital please, I don't want another Grigo.......

2014 Unrestricted Free Agency - Sabres Strategy
thewookie1 replied to IKnowPhysics's topic in The Aud Club
Orpik would come here to play at home, that would be his reasoning. Callahan, even if overpriced, will be useful for the locker room I'd be ok with standing pat if it weren't for our need to bring on salary, the need in getting rid of Leino, and the UFA period isn't what it used to be. We'll need at least a couple years worth of UFAs and I'd rather start sooner than later. -
2014 Unrestricted Free Agency - Sabres Strategy

Get Ott and Callahan for forward leadership. Bring back Tallinder, and get Orpik to a 1 year deal at 6 mil to help reach the floor. Then if he wishes to play for a playoff team we can always take 50% of his contract and trade him before resigning him. The only player I'd sign who would likely effect the tank a bit would be Matt Moulson, who alone I don't think will win us to many more games but would give our young forwards someone to work with who's a consistent competitor. I'd be open to shopping Ehrhoff if we can get a ransom for him since he appears unhappy to be here. -
The idea that it was also partially due to his country's problems may not be all that farfetched but its likely the fact Burmistrov kept slashing at him ad going after his hands throughout the game. I don't think he meant to "hurt" him but rather tell him to F off. Remember the reason many like Bennett is due to the fact he's willing to do the same, we want a few physical borderline dirty players. Not the cheapshot kind but the self-controlled kind who can play a clean game still.
-
You know that completely insane right? It's like saying that a murderer shouldn't be hated but rather only the bystanders nearby. Do I hate that no one did anything, yes, but I also hate the aggressors for their dirty action. I respect teams that deserve respect, Boston won't until they reel in their ridicules behavior and have to pay for their actions.
-
Even if not, he'll be an elite 3rd line C with a bit of a scoring touch. Even in that case he'd likely be a beast in the playoffs just based on his skill set and style.

Hodgson got two more goals this morning he's up to 6g1a now in 5gms
-
Anyone keeping up with this? Girgs has 1g 0a in 4gms 0 +/- Latvia actually is 3-1 thus far. Hodgson is leading Team Canada with 4g 1a in 4gms +3 +/- Myers has 0g 2a in 4gms and a +2 +/- McCabe is 0g0a and 0 +/- in his 4gms

:flirt: Typically I just give somewhat farfetched trade ideas. To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure why I just didn't put this in the "What would make you give up the tank" thread seeing as that was what I was trying to get at. Would these stats, regardless of their outrageous magnitude make you still feel ok if the season ended with us ending up with the 9th or 10th pick. Zadorov 76gm 22g 40a 62p <----- Random spectacular surprise performance Girgs 79gm 25g 50a 75p <------- Overachieving our expectations Myers 70gm 12g 35a 47p <-------- Returns to Rookie season-esc form Hodgson 72gm 22g 35a 57p <------- Actually somewhat realistic Ennis 74gm 24g 33a 57p <------- Actually somewhat realistic Stafford 61gm 20g 35a 55p as Sabre, traded for 1st rounder + <----- Hopeful due to contract year + better output under Nolan Grigs 15gm 3g 4a 7p (Plays solid games as a call up) <----- again potentially realistic Sam B or R Get at least 50p in his rookie season <------ Shot in the dark based on other top picks Well passed out would mean I couldn't of typed it  Who bought dynamite? :P

I don't think he's the best player in the world, maybe the best shifty forward in the West (now that Datsyuk is in the East) That being said, while I firmly believe Kane and Toews are on their own great players; together I think they're the best pair in the NHL. Why not Perry & Getzlaf? ..... Stanley Cups. In an odd way Kane and Toews complete each other's style. Kane being the carefree, crafty, imaginative, playmaking scorer that he is while Toews is the serious, business-like player with almost mechanical consistency. Not to say that they don't have a bit of the other's main traits, but I think you get the idea. They are Yin & Yang, when either are injured you see how the team falters; they keep a balance of sort.

Essentially this was a dream scenario where I was trying to create a situation in which the youngsters do amazing thus ruining our last place run. Problem was I was half-asleep at the time thus wasn't think things through all that well. All in all, thank you for attempting to deduce a half-asleep man's ramblings.

I'm going to offer a scenario which you guys will state rather or not that would be enough not to get Last place next year. Buffalo Sabres 2014-2015 Finish 21st in the league Zadorov 76gm 22g 40a 62p Girgs 79gm 25g 50a 75p Myers 70gm 12g 35a 47p Hodgson 72gm 22g 35a 57p Ennis 74gm 24g 33a 57p Stafford 61gm 20g 35a 55p as Sabre, traded for 1st rounder + Grigs 15gm 3g 4a 7p (Plays solid games as a call up) Sam B or R Get at least 50p in his rookie season
-
I'd be tempted to offer him 1x5
-
Why not? I would at least want one for that type of player. Mentor Girgs in that type of the game and help protect the team from the media a bit. He'd "want" to play here, has a lot of experience, and a cup ring. I wouldn't pay him 7 years 7 mil per but I'd give him 20 mil over 4 years. Just to mentor and be a rock in the D-Zone, plus unlike Erhroff, he'd want to play every game with heart. I don't want us to field rejects and rookies next year, I couldn't deal with a team worse than this year's team. I want them to finish near the bottom, but still be at least somewhat competitive and not a team of 3rd and 4th liners.
-
I'd love Stastny but I doubt he'd come here. If Tampa gets swept I could see Callahan preparing to head to Buffalo almost immediately after. As in agent talks and such. Orpik I think will be a Sabres player before he retires, rather or not he comes here this offseason or later is unknown. At very least if Orpik comes to Buffalo, we could trade Erhroff since we'd have the vet D-Man we need. Resign Ott, he'd be a very useful player and leader for the rest of the rebuild and future playoffs. Maybe grab Morrow too. Resign Tallinder, he's servicable Go after Moulson, maybe get him to return too, though I can only see that happening if Vanek goes to the Wild and Gaborik is signed by LA. Wishful Lines for 2014-2015 Moulson-Ennis-Stafford Girgensons-Hodgson-Callahan (You'd have to have one of the wingers cover the Center in the D-Zone) Morrow-Ott-Flynn Kaleta-Foligno-Michell Konopka? Myers-Pysyk Orpik-Risto Tallinder-Weber Ruhwedal? McBain? I doubt they'd be good enough to wow anyone, but I'd doubt we be in last by much and we'd certainly have entertainment.

24 has always been my ideal number since its my birthday Wore 12 and 13 a few times in baseball Most years I was just given a number between 1 and 9 though so anything it that range I've forgotten at this point.

WTF kind of schedule is that...... Friday, Saturday then wait until the following Thursday? Are the AHL schedule people drunk or something?
-
Seabrook is at fault, but his hit was not intended for the head, Backes was looking down. Additionally he didn't leave his feat or lead with his elbow. However he did hit him in the head and he's ever bee suspended so I'd say a 1 game suspension is all he gets.

As long as they aren't driven into the boards they'll likely let it go. Same goes for most borderline pentalies, if it wasn't overly blatant they'll look away
