Sabres to induct Hasek into the Sabres Hall of Fame on March 29th

The above shows why he was the best goalie to play the game, and he did all this without the longevity of someone like Brodeur -
Mostly because that is what comes directly after Wang selling And this isn't the Sabres, I don't think there is going to be any new owner willing to keep Snow around "for continuity", Its almost a lock that a new owner will step in and clean house of everyone in that organisation to try and turn things around

They could decide to keep this years pick (mostly likely will), then sell and dump snow before this offseason starts and actually put together a playoff team for next year (Giving the Sabres a later pick), they are much closer to being able to do that then the Sabres are. I actually like this idea and think it would be best for the league cause it would keep things like this years Sabres from happening again.Keep the actual lottery, weigh the chance at #1 the same as now and base the weighing off of the teams standing, but have the entire order of all the non playoff teams decided by the lottery, not just the #1 pick. This would eliminate teams from deciding to throw away a season in order to have a chance at the #1 spot and keep teams focused on playing better and trying to make the playoffs or win and play spoiler

I was looking this morning at the top values by Forbes of the NFL teams, and even with the lease opt-out cost of $400 million, its quite possibly that it won't be a big thing to prevent someone from moving the team. If you figure the Bills franchise value of $850 mil +/-, then tack on $400 for the opt out, thats $1.25 Billion, the average value of an NFL franchise according to Forbes is $1.17 billion, with the top 10 franchises all valued over $1.2 Billion. If a new owner sees that a bigger market can put him into the top 10 in franchise values, dropping $1.5 Billion to buy the team (including the opt-out cost) is not out of the question. Now if the family has a say in who gets the franchise, they may value a $850 million bid for the team from someone local more then a similar but slightly higher bid by someone who intends to relocate. The difficult task right now is going to be finding someone/a group of investors with that kind of money and ties to Buffalo, who will be willing to keep the franchise in Buffalo without going into the Red, cause no business person/investor is going to invest that kind of money without getting a good return on their investment. It might also involve fans shelling out more money, and the area being willing to help out funding a new stadium (or huge improvements/renovations to rebuild RWS) Yup, fans who were less then a day earlier calling him cheap, and wishing for a new owner who would be willing to turn the franchise around are now talking about how great he was......

You could just get this whole discussion back on track by finding out if Nolan likes eating Twinkies/hostess products, and if he ever lost a ton of money on bad investments........... I wonder if this has more to do with changes in your tastes, or with changes to the quality of the product itself. I have noticed over the years some of the Hostess stuff has been tasting a little bit different....

That first goal by the Leafs was a crazy one, Miller kind of tried to imitate Hasek, stretched out, rolling onto his side/back, he makes the initial save off his arm, but the rebound ends up bouncing over him and right to a wide open Lupul on the other side of the crease.

Well, a good GM would have been able to take what the Sabres currently had and turned this team around much quicker then Darcys plan to gut the franchise and start from sub-rock bottom.......He left them in a bad spot by starting the gut, which led to making it necessary to get rid of guys like Miller and Vanek before they walked for nothing cause they didn't want anything to do with a long gut rebuild

PETA was not seriously all over something like this? That seems odd Anyways, its not the NHL, but did anyone catch this from the OHL playoffs last night? (They showed some of it during the intermission of the Leafs/Blues game) http://www.tsn.ca/chl/story/?id=447380 So the Spitfires had to start their backup goalie in net against London because their starter was apparently sick. By the second period the Knights were up 6-0 and the Spitfires 19 year old goalie was skating up to the face off circles basically begging to be pulled. Because they decided to dress their sick starter as the backup instead of calling someone up, the coach says that when they were down 4-0 in the first he asked him if he would be able to go in and he said if necessary but he was feeling sick. When London went up 8-0, the 19 year old had enough, pulled a Patrick Roy, skated off the ice pulling himself from the game, went straight to the dressing room, changed and left the arena before the game was even over. And then, in the same game, the London goaltender took offence to getting pushed around a little bit by one of the Spitfires, after a whistle went, he turned around and took a one handed swing with his goalie stick to the back of the head of the Spitfires player. He was assessed a 2 minute penalty for the swing........ He would probably outscore Leino too, play better defence then Hodgson, and is smoother moving around on the ice then John Scott!

I will take the "False Hope/mediocrity approach" any day over the cluster###### tire fire that we see out there now Atleast there was entertaining games being played in a run to try and make the playoffs and just as much of a chance that they could get hot and have some things fall in their favour in the playoffs as there is a chance that this team will suddenly become a "Dynasty" franchise because they sucked BAD for a couple of years. If its so easy to go from no talent to cup contender compared to middle of the pact and getting better, why doesn't every team do it?

I wouldn't shed a tear...............................that wasn't of Joy if that happened Him and Marchand are two of the worst players in the league. They take cheap shots, run and cower behind Chara if someone bigger comes after them, then cry when someone does something to them

Does Hitchcock get fined for player selection for having Miller on the ice at that time?

James Neal goal scorer, head hunter, diver?
apuszczalowski replied to drnkirishone's topic in The Aud Club
Forgetting the rest of his "incidents", I personally think the "knee to the head" deserved an award for Neal I'm just a little disappointed it was only a knee and not the bottom of his skate............. -
There were others, Mark Hamister was the other potential buyer but he lost out on them to Golisano

C'mon, I think in Baseball they give you the choice if you want to wear the shorter pants that show more sock or the longer pants that come down to the cleats, lol In football they let you chose between 1-2 different styles of shoes i think. The NFL lets their coaches chose what style of casual team clothing they want to wear on the sidelines, sleeves are optional! I was not a fan of his Sabres mask, and this one is alright, but not one of my favorites. As for the Guitars, its music themed, and I thought he did play guitar in a band with some other teammates in Buffalo?
-
The Sabres could do it for the remainder of the games this season and no one would probably know the difference. It can't get much worse then things are now.Just give them a Leino jersey and they can rotate no people in for each shift! People might get suspicious though when they notice that Leino starts looking better out there

I have never been able to see the hype that people have had for Vanek when he was here and never thought of him as being an 'Elite' player. He always just seemed to be a good, but not great scorer who was given a huge contract. I always saw him as a guy that wouldn't be a leader and never take charge, he wants to be out of the spotlight and just do his thing, following along with the crowd. Now not that theres anything wrong with that, but its the reason why he looks lazy out there most of the time

he is the new Larry Quinn!

I have been on ice after a sled hockey game, the ice is horrible and gets chewed up badly from the sticks/spikes they use to pull themselves around with.
-
Are you kidding? No one would dare do anything to Saint Pegula, none of this can be his fault, He builds multi-pad rinks for the community and provides them with a pretty new locker room, he also got ride of Ruff and Regier and has convinced everyone that being worse then horrible is the only way that a team can build a cup contender mmmmmm, the Kool-aid is good!

Don't their fans realize that this is just Snow and the Front Office Tanking in order to improve the teams future?
-
From my understanding, this is correct, and its why they are called "Wildcard" teams, because their divisional alignment doesn't matter. They could end up with 2 teams from the same division in the Wild Card, or one from each, either way the #1 seed in the conference plays the #2 Wildcard, and the #2 seed faces the #1 Wildcard
