  1. And I don't think there was ever any indication that his reason for leaving was because he demand power from the Islanders organisation and they wouldn't listen to his every idea, The reason for leaving was because he disagreed with the direction Wang was taking the team when he turfed the GM that was brought in with Lafontaine for Snow. Why would he stay in an unpaid position in a situation where they brought him on for his advice and his advice isn't being taken? I would have left too instead of staying there wasting my time. They obviously didn't need him if they wouldn't listen to his advice.
  2. And he was brought in to be an adviser without getting compensated for it. By hiring him as an advisor, they are asking him to provide advise. If I was brought into a position where they asked for my advise and my advise was never taken, I wouldn't waste my time anymore and have no problems leaving a job I'm not being paid for.
  3. Without reading the bold line I was already going to comment that getting texts from your bartender of your favorite bar (and not your wife at your bar in the basement) is probably a sign that you may want to go attend some meetings.........That sounds like something that would happen with Barney from the Simpsons
  4. No one is saying the deal for Halak has to contain a goalie coming back though, they could work out another deal that includes a goaltender who actually looks like he can play in the NHL.If i was Murray, i would be looking at the Ducks and trying to get Fasth, if they won't give up Gibson, in a deal for either a defencemen or forward while dealing Halak to the Wild (or Philly), or use a 3rd and try to get Neuvirth from the Capitals. I would be looking to make a deal for a goaltender who can compete with Enroth for the #1 job now if disrupting the minor league teams playoff hopes isn't allowed. of course I would be looking to try and make this team credible and competitive now with an eye towards the future, instead of throwing away the present and putting all the hope in the future.
  5. Yeah, i can't see any legal way that a deal could be made and hold up, where they can put a condition on what happens to the player once their contract is fulfilled
  6. Well you could wear it with a black armband........Still, it would be a nice gesture by the front office during these tough times to do something for the fans and help them out so they don't end up having to get all new jerseys.......
  7. I know, but they had him, along with Roy, Leopold, Ott, Miller, etc.
  8. ok, thats 3 years to just get the Saviour, how many years to put it all together on the ice and actually get to the cup?Is Callaghan willing to sign up for 3-5 years of the basement for the small chance that everything goes right and they become cup contenders after that? Do people really think that the Sabres will go from where they are now, in the Sub-Basement of the league, to cup contenders in a matter of 3 years? It will probably be 3 years just to be in conctention for a playoff spot
  9. It starts and ends with Ehrhoff for Drew miller Straight up.Drew comes to Buffalo, is assigned the number 30 and it allows the Sabres to look good to its fans because all of the Miller Jerseys out there won't go to waste and can still be worn
  10. I'm almost certain Halak is gone before Wednesday, but I think if they don't get anyone back in another trade, they would bring up hackett or someone else from Rochester to ride out the season over Dubnyk
  11. they could easily just bring up Hackett or the other guy in Rochester to finish out the year if they don't have a deal for anyone else after Halak is moved.Probably get better results, and it would give us the chance to throw Enroth under the bus and pump the tires of the amazing inexperienced backup who looked good for a couple games..........
  12. So are the blues basically Sabres (Mid)West?
  13. Nah, this is the point where we all think things are going up from, then they come back and we reach a whole new level of rock bottom after Wednesday
  14. Rinne might be starting against the Pens Why? They would probably get the same results from the office guy they suited up on Friday night
  15. TSN is saying he is there at the arena, just not on the ice and Murray says he hasn't been traded
  16. Thats basically what i was saying earlier, that they give him this offer to keep him around for the tough times making him work with zero talent and kids, then will drop him for TMs guy once they get to the point where they are ready to compete. If TM brings in his guy know, this team will be facing another PR nightmare with fans furious that they would let go of nolan again after what he has done with the team. TM also will risk the fan base turning on his coach early if he doesn't turn this team around quickly (I'm talking about the hundreads of thousands of fans out there who also follow the team but not on the internet 'boards, not the ones here who support "the Tank"). Ted has shown enough with his job at the olympics and what he has done with the Sabres that he could get opportunities at another job in the league even if he leaves the Sabres right now unless theres issues about him that only NHL front offices know that scare them away, and if thats the case, it doesn't matter if he stays here or goes, he won't get another chance.
  17. Do you think Ehrhoff is going to want to stick around here for a few more tire fire seasons? It will be a few years before anyone they are obtaining now even reach the NHL, let alone their potential and this team reaches a level where they are viewed as a serious cup contender. Ehrhoff had to be begged by TP to come here in the first place with the promise this team was going to be a cup contender real soon.
  18. If the Ducks trade a goalie, its going to be FasthJust like the Blues, they aren't going to give up their goalie of the future in a deadline move. If they are going to move one, and would like to make a run in the playoffs Fasth is the guy to go
  19. Thats the way it usually works, you may occasionally get one big one like the Friday deal, but then everything goes silent until about noon wednesday.everyone will complain about the rumors/hype and no action, then talk about how disapointing the deadline day has been with only a couple of minor moves have been made, then just slightly after 12 noon Wednesday the flood gates will open and moves will be coming in I wouldn't be surprised though if someone like Stewart is moved before the game tonight to Uncle Brian since it appears thats what he was obtained for.....
  20. Why would he want to come here except to say he played for the team were he grew up. This team won't be a cup contender during his contract here, why would he want to waste the finally years of his career to go to a place he has no chance of winning in?
  21. Thats why i think it has to do with the Direction of the team giving away all of its talent and Veterans for Lotto Tickets and Future Potential. I bet PLF wanted to turn things around quicker and not give everyone away with the hope that by doing this and acquiring tons of picks, they are somehow going to build some dynasty team. I wouldn't be surprised if the TM they interviewed was not the same guy they got when he showed up to work. PLF seems like an honest/prideful guy and not someone who would want to see a team "Tank" and try to lose in oreder to have a better chance to draft a Saviour. Maybe PLF thought they should be talking more to Miller and doing more to convince him to stay but TM decided that since he felt miller was gone that any talk they did have would be a show for the fans to make them believe they tried. I could also see an issue where they decided to give Nolan an extension with the idea that it would cover the lean/bad years and once they were ready to contend, he would be dropped for one of Murrays buddies who could take over the team then, basically making Nolan a fall guy while they rebuild through the draft.
  22. They couldn't get them on a direct flight???I flew from Phoenix to Filthadelphia and then to Buffalo in less time then that, the first flight was less then 3 hours IIRC with the second one about an hour. Originally I thought it was a good deal, expecially if they re-sign Halak, but now thats its becoming apparent that they intend to flip him to the Wild for more Lotto tickets and potential, and Stewart was brought over to be flipped in whats probably a favour to Uncle Brian for other Lotto Tickets and Potential I think its even worse. It sounds like they have no intention of making this team any better in the immediate future, and that we haven't even hit rock bottom yet with how bad this team can be on the ice. Theres no way decent FAs are even going to look at Buffalo unless they are only in it for a pay day, and they might as well deal away Myers and Ehrhoff because this team won't be competitive before their deals are up and will probably demand trades out of here soon enough along with any other vet they have on the roster.
  23. Its funny how Lafontaine up until mid day Saturday was a well respected Hockey guy who was a perfect fit to help turn this franchise around, and in the matter of a few hours became a useless figurehead who has no experience rebuilding a team and can be tossed aside without any effect on the team I don't believe theres any big conspiracy here, but I also don't buy that he just decided his job was done, or had some health issues, or family issues that made him return to his NHL job. The most likely scenario, he interviewed and hired a guy to be the GM, believing that they would be working as a team/group with decisions going through him and other members of the front office. The guy he hired may not be the same guy they interviewed (or maybe he wasn't PLs first choice but the other guys in the Front Office liked him). They had some disagreements on how things should be handled and the direction the team should be going (PL though going hard after re-signing Miller was the way to go and turning things around quickly, TM decided that they weren't going to try and re-sign Miller because he felt he was already gone and wants to do a slower rebuild completely through the draft) Maybe TM has the Miller/Ott deal ready to go and instead of running it through PL he takes it over his head to TP and gets the ok from him. PL decides that he doesn't want to work like this (maybe he also has pride issues with the idea of losing/tanking on purpose to draft a saviour) and gets his old job back. I also really believe that Nolan is having issues with signing the extension because he doesn't like the direction they are moving in and doesn't want to be the guy who is here to do the hard work of trying to win with zero talent on the roster, only to be let go once the talent starts coming in for one of TMs guys. If I was Nolan, I wouldn't stay knowing that the roster is being gutted of all its talent and replaced with draft picks and "prospects" and has no plans on trying to improve the on-ice product for a few years when the prospects are ready.
  24. yeah, How did that work out for Colangelo and the Raptors? As for the penguins, they didn't manipulate anything to "Tank", they had ownership issues that were forcing them into Bankruptcy, then they lucked into getting Crosby by winning the actually draft lottery after the lockout.
  25. They will be much more interesting to follow then the Sabres GDTs in a couple of days when John Scott and Cody McCormick are the best option for the top line once everyones gone for Picks and prospects
