"Increasingly Substantiated BS" rumor thread- 2014 Edition
apuszczalowski replied to WildCard's topic in The Aud Club
Is LA going to be able to afford re-signing Vanek? Is Vanek willing to sign there or is he 100% set on signing in Minneosota?I would believe with solid goaltending, Minneosota is a playoff team next year, Vanek or Not -

How are you supposed to think outside the box if you can only use the "facts" that are being said by the front office? The people thinking that theres more to this then being led on and that theres a coverup are thinking outside the box -
well they aren't saying its possible, just that its what the wild would want if they are going to get Halak which will probably mean the Sabres will have to sweeten the deal to get them to remove this clause or take on a salary form the wild to unload Halak

I don't care how the Bruins acquired that 2nd round pick, I will argue that it doesn't count because the team was not a basement dweller in order to get the pick. The worst they have been was enough to get the 5th overall pick. The penguins 1st overall choice in 2005 was also not because they were bad, but it was because they actually won the lottery. 2005 was all about luck (or rigging the draft). My point was about a team not being able to be a in contention for the playoffs while being able to build a championship team Also, how many of those teams gutted there roster of all their talent first? Most of those teams already had talent on the roster, and added to it with their high picks. -
I understand, I just don't see the logic in doing it when they could just include him in the deal.If a deal is being made with the Sens for Stewart, and the expected return is a prospect, the Sabres are clearing a roster spot already by giving up Stewart and the prospect will be going to the minors somewhere so theres already a spot on the active roster. If they need to clear up a spot for some reason, I could see it being a 3 way deal, or the Sabres waiving someone instead.

After tomorrow I doubt our best roster player has that potential. Like I said, I have no problem with trying to get him, but I question why Ottawa would be willing to put him on waivers and lose him for nothing when he could be packaged in a deal or traded if he doesn't have issues/bagage But why not just include him in the trade?

Wow, $1000 a seat for the remaining 7 games to watch whats going to be left of the Sabres Carcass after the deadline? Man, you should have him contact Pegula and have him ask for a refund I would expect that come Wednesday around 4pm, its going to be tough to find any paying customers to watch the remaining games

Thats what I have been saying, and is a reason I could see Buffalo passing. If he has potential why would the Sens give up on him so soon after dealing Bishop for him? Why not try and deal him or use him as part of a package if he has value? -

Both can't be done at the same time? So all championship teams go from basement dwellers to Cup contenders? A 24 year old can not be part of the rebuild? You do realise they have to put a team out on the ice to play every year until these youth is ready to come in and begin the Dynasty -

I don't know if I would say Everyone, Nolan didn't make it sound that it was just PLF deciding to leave on his own. Also, theres to many things comming out about this that make it appear theres more to this then what they are letting out. If this was just PLF deciding his job was done and he is out, why did he not speak about it to the media with TP and the rest of the front office? Why would they settle the remainder of his contract if its his decision to leave and make him sign a contract saying he can't speak about it? Of course the inside guys are going to deny it was anything big, do you really think Black, or anyone else in the front office is going to come out and say 'Yeah, PLF left because he fought with someone and there were many disagreements" -
I used those 2 because they were brought upAlso they are 2 guys that fans seem to bring up as being worthless or shouldn't be here, yet in less games, their stats aren't off of Conachers by much as for Ellis/Scott, Ellis in 29 games playing on the 4th line has one less goal then Conacher and his role here is more for leadership then point production. will you get that from Conacher? Scotts role here on the 4th line is also not for point production, its to be an enforcer/good/intimidation, will you get that from Conacher? (Scott is also versatile that he can play defence in emergency situations) I'm not against bringing in a 24 year old Conacher, but I really question why Ottawa would be wiling to expose him to waivers, and was pointing out that points/goal scoring from him isn't that much off of what the Sabres currently have in guys fans want run out of town
-
not by muchConacher has 20 points in 59 games Leino has 12 points in 42 games D'Agostini has 9 points in 37 games D'Agostini has the same amount of goals as Conacher does in less games Timmy would also know him well and why Ottawa would be willing to put a 24 year old that was a big part of the Bishop trade on waiversIf he is valuable or doesn't have some issues, why would they not be using him as trade bait or in a package deal? Couldn't they use him as part of a deal to Buffalo for Stewart?

But would Adam be willing to put his credibility on the line by agreeing with what Ben said? Clemmensen is too old and not really an upgrade over what they currently have in Rochester, like Dubnyk, I would pass All new and aggressive GMs gut their franchises of all its current talent for Lotto Tickets and potential future talent?I want my GM to be aggressive and willing to make moves, and I have no problem with him dealing away talent, but I want them to do it while trying to improve the current roster while keeping an eye on the future. -

After seeing the comment from Moulson about no negotiations being had between him and the Sabres, I really wonder how true any of the talk was about the Sabres attempting to re-sign any of their players (or getting an idea where they stand with a rebuild) before trying to move them. Did TM actually have discussions with Miller about the possibility of him being willing to stay? How about Ott? Or has his view since he was brought on been that everyone, especially those with expiring contracts are trade chips that will be moved -

But we can always have more!!!!!!!......And remember, the goal is McDavid ;) ! Actually, if someone credible is willing to re-tweet what someone else has said, I would say it does increase the credibility of the original commentYou would expect/hope that someone credible wouldn't put their credibility on the line re-tweeting a comment from some nobody that has a good chance of not being truth -
Which might be a reason he would stay awayWhy would the Sens just give up on him and put him on waivers?

true, but maybe the reason why they would rather have Halak then Brodeur is that Halak gives them the flexibility/option to be a long term option for them if Hardings medical issues get worse. Its going to be tough for the Wild going forward with the idea of Harding being the #1 guy. As nice of a story as it would be, how can you continue on with him as the #1 knowing he could at any time have to go on IR cause his condition gets worse or something happens? If I were the Wild, I would consider Halak as a long term option and go with him and Harding as a 1a/1b tandem -

It will be telling if they make a move for a goalie. Can't see them doing anything if Price isn't actually Day to day. If they make a move, the injury is worse then its being reported right now. Wonder if the Canadians and Halak would be open to a reunion with him going back to be Prices backup? I wouldn't want Budaj though, if they are going to get a goalie back in any deal it i would prefer a young almost ready to be a full time starter in the NHL (Gibson), or someone who has shown flashes of being a good NHL starter stuck behind a better one (Fasth, maybe Neuvirth) I don't remember the 2 having personal issues with each other though, Halak just wanted to be a starter and was fighting Price for the spot. Canadians chose Price over Halak so Halak was gone. atleast thats what I remember -

i have heard that for a while, the top teams are interested in whats available, but they don't want to pay the asking prices at this time. And why should they, the bottom feeder teams should gladly move their assetts over to the top teams for cheap just for the chance to help the better teams win a cup! Brodeur possibly moving to the Wilds, Edmonton extending Scrivens, the Ducks and Canes both basically saying teams can try to get one of their goaltenders, the secondary market is going to be very thin for goalies cause there aren't many looking for a rental -
