  1. 1970-present The Try to Act like a Major League Franchise When You're Really a Minor League Franchise Era aka The Horrible Management Era.
  2. John Murphy's pbp for the Bills makes me Cringe. The Snaaap....with that Buffalo accent...ugh....time after time...He was a good anchor man at WKBW but when Van left, this former second banana has shown the world that he is a repetitive drone with manufactured enthusiasm. No personality and the pbp makes me think of sitting next to a loud mouth know-it-all at a bar. The Bills need a real pbp guy. Jerry Sullivan is professional but seems like he should be in New England, cheering on the Red Sox and Patriots. Sounds like he couldn't make it there so he lowered himself to become the voice of discontent in WNY. He' seems very unhappy with the losing atmosphere and the unprofessional homerism in Buffalo, which in reality is nothing more than a glorified Fargo, as one of the Bills once said. On another note Ed Kilgore, who was another really good sports anchor and had spent 40 years at WGR(Z) just up and left on that big anniversary, and joined the Pegula organization, never to be heard from again. He disappointed me greatly by instantly morphing from one of our guys to selling out to the enemy. I do get a kick listening to WGR talk Sabres hockey. I've been there since the beginning. I live out of town now and the sheer rabid homerism for the Sabres, win or lose, is contagious and fun although I get the feeling it's like eating wings...ultimately unhealthy for you. It is good for the city when the team wins and I only hope they figure out how to win more but with the Pegulas, we are in The Clueless Era. So we keep circling the drain.
  3. Whaley always looks like he's high.
  4. I didn't like Risto's hit. It looked to me like he was headhunting and targeted the smaller and inexperienced Guentzel from across the ice...it reminded me a bit like McCabe's blind hit of Laine.. Both never saw them coming and never had a chance. They both looked up and then got destroyed. I hate to see hits that lead to concussions. I've had at least five of them. As commissioner, I give Risto a 3 game suspension.
  5. GMTM should probably keep his job for continuity sake. I don't have any confidence whatsoever in the way the Pegulas make decisions, whether management or otherwise. Last time Buffalo looked for a GM, there was that humiliating Lafontaine fiasco. One thing for certain, the best people avoid or somehow get out of coming to Buffalo... so the Sabres are going to have to take either a young or foreign up-and-coming GM or a middling retread off the pile of GMs that have failed elsewhere. So we still have the $10 million dollar locker room with a 25 cent team.
  6. The Atlanta Thrashers have scored a goal in the Staples Center more recently than the Buffalo Sabres. The last Sabres goal was scored by Craig Rivet on January 21st, 2010, while Chris Thorburn of the Thrashers scored on October 12th, 2010.
  7. Why not do it right after the Ducks beat the tar out of the Sabres? Why wait? See if Murray Sr. can do something.
  8. or maybe we can fire "GMTM", come crying back to Pat Lafontaine and start from there again.
  9. Fire Dan and put Kim Pegula, the first female coach in the NHL ever, at the helm.
  10. Did anyone mention that the game was tied 1-1 with less than a minute left in the period? What happened to being conservative and protecting a lead instead of throwing into the crease to try to get it out of the zone. That said there were probably 3 brainfarts at once here. First, the high risk play at the end of the period...bad decision! Then Jack's confusion and fumbling combined with Learner's slow reaction, confusion and short paddle not being able to reach it. It was a bad chain reaction. It's a team game and when it breaks down, there are a lot of culprits, and you can't just pin it on one. To me, it all started at the beginning with a risky decision at a crucial time in the game.
  11. I blame the play on Franson. He personally crossed Jack up by unexpectedly, unwisely and unsafely sending him an unexpected pass into the crease. The Bf Snooz is blaming it on Jack. They don't know anything.
  12. Learner stubbornly holds the shortest paddle in the NHL by far and the strategy has backfired bigtime in the shootout and elsewhere.
  13. Eichel is murder when he's one on one on another forward, especially on a power play where the other team is already at a disadvantage. Example A is how Jack cannibalized Atkinson last night, turning him inside out with three separate moves, including a spinerama, in less than 5 seconds. Eichel easily shook the BJ which put him in the clear to deliver the perfect pass to Kane for the GWG...so satisfying! I haven't seen a skater like Eichel on the team since Mogilny and Perreault. He's worth the price of admission alone.
  14. I think the Sabres should just admit that they were a failed loser concept from the beginning (a fan named the team in a contest), ditch everything and rebrand itself a different name and color scheme. Then I'd keep Jack, Sam, O'Reilly, Kane, Okposo and Risto and let the rest of these losers go, including the coach and GM. And the fans should storm HSBC Arena or whatever they call it today with torches and force the Pegulas out.
  15. I was there in 1968 with the Bisons. Kind of wish we stayed in the AHL.
  16. Lehner would get a sunburn on the back of his neck if it wasn't for the tatoo. What a waste of $, development and a #1 draft choice.
  17. He tried to get it all the way across the ice. Very low percentage of doing that.
  18. It was a bad pass that was intercepted and came back and then it was in the back of the net. Intercepted passes are a killer. I don't know who that pass was to. Looked like he put it almost from one board across to the other in the O-Zone...no chance at a reception there. I think Zemgus is a stupid player.
  19. Great power play BUT zemgus=brainless. bad #1 draft choice.
  20. funny thing about our D, when multi-millionaires bogosian/franson/kulikov/gorges inevitably go out with injuries, in steps guys from the AHL/minors...Falk, Fedun, Guhle, Nelson etc....and there is little to no dropoff. Looks to me like Tim doesn't have a clue on how to pick defensemen. And his investment in Lehner has been a big flop. Other multi-millionaires, including Ennis, Moulson, Girgensons and even Gionta...are so not worth it. They've tried to make O'Reilly into a leader too but that's not his role. He's a support guy. And on the Sabres, he's being way overpaid for his production. Murray has chosen exactly the wrong type of player to lock up with the big bucks. Economics of hockey is you need $6 million men to lead the way. The $6million guys have got to be superstars. Then you have the $1-3 million player as support. The $4-5 million dollar player should become dinosaurs. But we're stacked with them, on a multi-year basis that's dragging us down. We've got well-paid journeymen and they're not leading the way.
  21. Well...I Iiked the first period...
