Well if I had 15 years of accumulated wealth from his G.M. job in Buffalo I wouldn't worry too much about it.

This is what this team needs. Guys holding each other accountable. This shouldn't have the country club atmosphere and at times it should be uncomfortable. For the ones trying to shoot the messenger that is exactly the attitude that got this team in their comfort zone of entitlement in the first place. Even Lindy was told to tone it down this year for fear of upsetting someone. What a pansy assed road to go down.

Happy Birthday d4rksabre. Lets hope the boys win. As always GO SABRES !

GAME DISCUSSION THREAD GDT: Buffalo at Toronto (2/21/2013, 7:00pm)

I've seen other N.H.L. teams on the bikes during interviews after the games ( canucks ). I thought all of the teams did this to wind down.It apparently helps reduce acid or cramps in your legs ? or something to that effect. Pretty sure all teams do it. Recently Bieksa was being interviewed in Vancouver and it looked like he was riding the bike during the interview until the cameraman panned down and he was just moving his legs to make it look like he was on the bike. He gave the cameraman shite for ruining the illusion. It was quite funny. -
Whats that say about the Sabres as a team when people say he's a good coach and he'll win the cup one day but he just wasn't going to get it done here ? To me it says something about Darcys team building skills and his inability to build a roster that can compete with the best in the league. That has been obvious for years now but even as recent as last season there were some on this board saying we were 1 or 2 players away from winning the cup. Some were saying we could compete with Boston in a 7 game series even though we couldn't make the playoffs. You don't hear that now. The silence is deafening. Is everyone on the same page now ? Anyways. I was one of the outspoken calling for Lindys head and I don't regret it. A childhood idol of mine and a good coach and apparently an even better person and 'Buffalonian'. There's nothing wrong with having the opinion that its time for Lindy to move on and then after the fact still feel for the man as a person. I wish him well. Now this team needs to do the dirty work and start building a team that can compete against the best in the league and win.

This. I can't believe people actually thought changing the coach would miraculously make this team turn it around and go lossless. Firing the coach is just the first step in righting this ship.

Fire the captain, fire the captain, fire the captain.

Terry has to hire a g.m. he trusts and keep away from the damn hockey department. He's in way over his head if he's making hockey decisions. Thats all this team needs is a meddling owner. If that turns out to be the case this team is in way deeper than I thought. But for Gods sake get a good hockey man to run the show.

Hopefully Pegula and Black are still weighing their options at the G.M. position and hopefully managements still working the phones. -

They are who we thought they were. Lindy still needed to go. As does Regier. Change the culture. Right the ship. Anyone that expected a miracle turnaround doesn't know hockey. -

Well the pathetic powerplay remains. Lets hope they work on that. -
Its obvious that we just don't have much talent. Throw in the underachievers and players Darcy highly overpaid for and its been a recipe for disaster.
-
Regier has no ties to the old Sabres that T.P. is so fond of. Hopefully it makes his removal that much easier.
-
did they call him cunning Inglis ?
-
I couldn't agree more. Well put.

Teams that are struggling may expediate their decision to fire their coach in order to snag Ruff. He can help some team. Just not Buffalo.
-
Those quotes from Black show just how out of touch he is in regards to hockey as its played today. There's only so much change that Lindy could introduce into ' his ' game. He is what he is as a coach. The results speak for themselves. And now he's gone.

Looking forward to more change. Looking forward to this game as its the first in a new era. The post Ruff era. New beginnings but I have no illusions that this team will be any different because of a simple coaching change. I expect them to come out and play hard to try to impress the new coach but the passengers will revert to their evil ways within a few games and thats when they can be counted and hopefully jettisoned. Excited nonetheless. As always GO SABRES ! -
Nice to see now that we're not the only ones questioning Regiers longevity. Hopefully Pegula reads some of the articles coming out today from regional and national media that ask those same questions. Its time for Darcy to go as well. Actually its overdue. Imo
-
Well this is very exciting. Wish Lindy the best but I'm raring to go. Hopefully this is a sign of more moves to come. Its really too bad Regier wasn't shown the door as well. This team has his fingers all over it. As for Lindy, one door closes, another door opens. I'm sure after he does some soul searching he'll be excited for the future as well. Now lets get to work and fix this team Mr. Pegula.
