  1. I'll start with a conference championship.
  2. Might have something to do with extending his best friend and college room mate Ron Wilson then firing him ( can you say golden parachute ) or it could be the Kessel clusterfukc or the trade with Calgary for Phanoops or any number of other moves. Maybe he goes after Bettmans job ?
  3. And I think fans are going to love Otts style regardless of how much we may miss what Roy could contribute to the team. I'm sure his moxy will rub off on young guys like foligno etc in a positive way.
  4. That is some scary centre depth. Not in a good way. This team has taken a step back if that is possible. The future looks bright with a bumpy road.
  5. I'm with you on this. I can't really do anything to personally make the league feel some pain for the discomfort they've caused me. I won't be buying anything they market. Probably for a long time. I don't often get the chance to travel to Buffalo( never ) but boycotting a Sabres game given the chance to do so would only hurt the team I love and support not necessarily the league as a whole. If I were to decide against travelling to Vancouver, Calgary or Edmonton to watch them play It would end up hurting those teams Minutely but the Sabres don't play there this year anyways. But I do feel the need to let the league know that I'm not happy with what has happened this season. Just not sure how. My feeling is they would simply brush me off like some bothersome gnat and have a good laugh at my expense amongst themselves as they enjoy their 1000 dollar a night hookers and high grade peruvian flake. Sucks to be the little guy with no voice.
  6. Other than the gold medal coaching kids in a short tournament where and what has Housley done in terms of coaching to warrant a head coaching job in Buffalo ? I'm just curious as to why people are calling for this. I really have no inkling as to what experience he has.
  7. Sour grapes ? These kids won bronze which isn't exactly chump change in a short tournament. Grigs played great. Imo Yakupov is a one man show who failed to use his team mates properly. Too often he tried to do it all by himself. Makarov was good. Perhaps it can be said that the Russians should have picked the hot hand in net and went with him rather than alternating between the two ?
  8. Congrats team U.S.A. Very deserving of the win as they really gelled into a ' team ' over the course of this tournament. Based on what I saw they were the most balanced team from goalie out. Great defence, great goaltending and timely clutch scoring. I'm excited about the experience and exposure to playing in this tournament that our picks ( all of them ) have gained here. Hopefully some of that rubs off and translates to the N.H.L. for these guys.
  9. Shite ! Should be a good gold medal game. Both Sweden and U.S. sound defensively. Gots to pull for our boy Jake and the U.S. Like their momentum and the way they've played good team defence all tournament long. The U.S. speed should help their cause. GO U.S.A !
  10. Shootout Sweden Russia. Swedens goalie looks like he stepped out of a lacross net so hopefully Grigs and co. can find some space. Want to see those prospects advance. ;)
  11. Apparently sabres players have been ramping up workouts the last couple of days in anticipation of the season starting so although not much is leaking out of the meetings at this point I suppose this can be looked at as a positive sign. Take it for what its worth.
  12. Congrats team U.S.A. Great to see another one of our boys have such a great game on 'D'. Honestly until this game he's been mostly invisible in a good way for the U.S. focusing on shutdown play rather than offence but what a way to break out offensively and in such an important game. Great for his confidence moving forward. What it comes down to for Canada is they were simply outcoached as there really isn't that much talent wise that separates these teams at this point so congrats to Phil Housely for the job he's done. That and goaltending. Gibson played great. Subban not so much.
  13. I'll add to my earlier statement by saying it should be no different for the olympics. I've always felt when they opened it up to pro players the olympics lost something of their original intent.
  14. I get what you're saying. Its a problem with the rules. The way they're set up this benefits one team over the other teams in the tournament simply because players of his caliber with his birthdate come along once in a generation ( and in a lockout season ). Kind of a perfect storm. This time benefitting Canada over the others. Next time one of the others? I agree. The rules should be changed so everyones on a level playing field.
  15. He's 19 and its officially the last year he's allowed. Why wouldn't you make room for this kid. I'm sure every team in this tournament would do the same.
  16. Has this happened before ? I may be wrong but I don't think they changed the rules for him.
  17. Makarov giving the Russians a chance with 40 plus saves to Subbans 20ish but this game is done with 1 minute left. Canada wins another tough contest. Penalty shot for Russia with 19 seconds to go at 4-1 Canada. Misses wide.
  18. I'm usually not too much of a pop follower but that new track by Bruno Mars ' locked out of heaven ' is catchy as hell. Great bass line and just a good tune overall production wise. This album is going to make him a lot of money. Talented guy.
  19. I'll speak for the board. Your posts are always insightful, entertaining and balanced.
  20. I'm not going to support N.H.L.com right now. Just sayin ;) Its on T.S.N.
  21. Pominville scores in o.t. Mannheim stuns Canada at Spengler cup. Three minutes into overtime Pomms scores on a breakaway. I should add that although the Spengler is usually filled with castoffs and dogs that couldn't get their teams in the playoffs this year Canadas roster has some high profile players due to the lockout. Mannheim blocked a ton of shots apparently and played well defensively
  22. No. I'm out to lunch. I thought they were talking about Morgan Freeman.
