  1. I've watched all the games or portions of some depending on work and this edition of the Sabres is like watching paint dry. I've also watched quite a few western games. I've never felt watching non Sabres games was more exciting until this year. Mainly because I've always had a vested interest in the sabres and was emotionally attached. Lindy coaches not to lose instead of coaching to win. I'm not sure if that makes sense but thats how it feels. Most teams play to their strengths whereas the Sabres always seem to let the other team dictate and they scramble to adjust. Its Just Boring Hockey. This team needs new ideas at the top and in coaching. A new philosophy. I still watch but its about as exciting as self mutilation. I'm tired of watching Lindy Ruff silently stare off into space and not do anything while his team flounders and goes through the motions. If he felt compelled to be better with his job hanging in the balance he'd be better but he feels no pressure so...
  2. Agreed. If they were a good team they could regain possession despite losing the draw and their faceoff stats wouldn't matter a lick. Does winning or losing the draw have any bearing on power play percentage or penalty killing ? I would think so. Especially killing the penalty in your own Zone. Lose the draw the other team gains possession and sets up. On the power play in the opposing Zone if you lose the draw your most likely chasing the puck back down the ice to recover it in your own end. I would think faceoff percentage is crucial to special teams maybe not so much 5 on 5 ?
  3. But they never won one for the Gipper.
  4. On a team collectively playing like crap.
  5. Perhaps they're bad at the play after the faceoff because they don't have possession of the puck. Puck possession can't be underestimated. If the Sabres were in control of the puck rather than trying to gain control maybe they'd have a better record. That being said when they do have control they seem to turn it over a good majority of the time anyways so who knows ?
  6. Teams that are crappy on the draw will always spin it the way Lindy has. Ask a team thats good at it how important it is. How can losing consistently at any aspect of the game be good ?
  7. Haven't missed him one iota. Could care less if he finds success actually.
  8. I agree with you. Enroth has had a bad record for a good long while but imo that has so much to do with the way Lindy manages his goaltenders. I'll admit he has to play better but tonights game was so far from being his fault. Tonights game was just a continuation of bad play, breakdowns and coaching that hasn't adjusted well since literally the beginning of the season. Anyone notice Lindy talk to anyone on the bench tonight. Did he actually coach or just stand there stonefaced with a lost look on his face. I'm just curious. Maybe he has no answers.
  9. My God we suck wind. We are one bad hockey team. I'm embarrassed for the first time in my life to say I am a fan of this sad sack team. 40 years of dedicated fandom. Not always a happy fan but never an embarrassed fan. I would feel terrible taking all these little people for their hard earned cash if I was the owner of this team.
  10. I think the whole idea is to keep peoples sticks out of the air away from eye level ?
  11. He has the same boss as them doesn't he ? I've noticed he rarely says anything negative about the team.
  12. Not at all. It was more enjoyable than this. We still had hope for better things to come.
  13. The Sabres are busy killing the power play again. Pathetic.
  14. Score. We're gonna win the cup !
  15. Myers looked absolutely awful on that goal.
  16. But we sure do have a way of making other teams look awesome.
  17. Holy Shite. Anyone see Rinaldo of Philly knock out that Tampa player tonight ? What a fast and furious fight and ko. Scary.
  18. Just got in. Did I miss anything ?
  19. As always, GO SABRES ! Thats all I got. Its getting difficult to get excited about our chances.
  20. Entertaining game.
  21. Your first point sums it up for me. Sneaking into the playoffs as the # 8 seed is not success. But this is how Darcy and Lindy have measured success for years. And they've been left in place to continue the trend without ever becoming an actual contender. The problem is they've missed more than they've hit. And they've still been left in place to continue the trend. It makes absolutely no sense to anybody. I don't mean this in a derogatory way but it only ever made sense to team sunshine and kittens. Well their membership has taken a real hit this season as they jump over to team stormcloud in droves. I don't blame them. The fact that everyone seems to be agreeing with each other about the sad state of this team is telling. Is everyone wrong ? Perhaps nobody in sabrespace knows anything about this game ? I think not. Something stinks in Pegulaville and the stench is too hard to hide.
  22. I'm beginning to think this. We've been told for so long that our D is deep and based on the contracts DR has handed out we've come to believe we have world class talent on D and in our forward ranks but are they world class ? How often are our players in the top 50 in scoring ? Aside from early returns this season not often. We are consistently rated way below everyone else. How often are the Sabres considered a favourite to win anything or even contend ? Not often yet we are constantly told how great our talent is, how great our drafting is, how great our development is but where has it led us. We are on the outside looking in pretty regularly come playoff time. Management has thrown us a line and most of us took the bait. When will TP realize what many are just starting to vocalize ? When will Darcys chances finally run out ?
  23. As bad as its been the last couple games. Well, for most of the season really I don't think this is the low water mark that we're going to hit this year. I really get the feeling things will get much much worse. Friends of mine that are fans of other teams ( all of them ) are asking me why the Sabres are so damn bad and whats wrong with this franchise that they don't know how to get it together. I tell them the problem imo is that Terry P has a perception problem related to his lifelong crush on this team and its former players. It appears to me that he can't separate his loyalty to Ruff and Regier from his business sense or that his business sense disappears when it comes to Ruff and Regier. As someone else said earlier maybe Ted Black can talk some sense into him. For the love of God Terry I love you and what you bring to this team but please listen to the fans. If you can't hear them I'm pretty sure it'll get louder.
  24. This team has to be able to find a viable option to Gerbe. Love the kids heart but he accomplishes absolutely nothing out there and I could have swore a couple of times I thought we snuck a pee wee player out on the ice for some much needed offence.
