Both men are now on the Sabres. :w00t: What I want is a head coach who tells his players, including his most skilled shooters, that if they ever back down from a fight, or in any way play a game in such a way that the game film shows them to be a big wuss, they lose ice time. I would want a coach that knows the difference between having a bunch of idiots who START crap all the time and those who simply take no crap from anyone, and who tolerates only the latter and none of the former. And that coach needs a GM who stocks his team with players who not only are the most skilled he can find, but who also show in their younger years to possess a willingness to drop them with anyone who instigates such encounters with them. If that is not already what Lindy Ruff and Darcy Regier are, then I want them replaced by a HC and a GM who fit that mold, because at least 1/3 to 1/2 of the roster is already there, IMO, mentally.

So I guess I needed to be paying more attention to all of this...was there an announcement? Is there no NHL hockey coming our way now?

I'm out here in New Mexico and got to see Tank Carder help his horned frogs crush my Lobos year after year and he did come in with quiet excitement by the few scouts who actually knew who he was. I'm just as excited that ex-Lobo Carmen Messina made it to the Lion's practice squad. I like a good feel-good story, though, so there's a little of that. His name? Yeah, probably had something to do with my man crush. But I liked Naaman Roosevelt's story, too and I don't even know if I'm pronouncing his name correctly....

I hope they put Carder and McKillup on the practice squad. Naaman, too.

It's weird. I'm actually optimistic about this season.

Your point would have been stronger had those games not been the final 15 (and actually I think the number was greater, but that's not the point) and they trailed off the torrid pace they were on. In fact, I saw a line there that seemed to actually be getting better every game until the final one played. Let's see what happens this season, as there are already many people here (and maybe you're all right, I dunno, weirder things have happened) who see a major drop-off in that line's success.

It's goalie, not Center. Yeah 47 is old. But I bet Brodeur plays until 45. I bet if Hasek gets to show a team what he's got, they'll sign him.

I really like this. I'd try Ott at RW with Vanek and Hodgson and Leino at LW on that 3rd line first, but other than that, Wellwood and Arnott would be GREAT additions I think.

I wonder how attached Calgary is to Iginla now or what we'd have to give up to get him here. I just pictured him with Hodgson and Vanek and liked it.

What I remember seeing was Hodgson and Vanek starting to find their games once that line was created, and Tropp provided the gristle they both needed, exactly like Foligno's role on Stafford and Ennis' line.
