  1. Yeah I have to agree, I often saw him not "putting it all out on the ice". Too often for a role player like him. But he really (and this IS where Lindy gets all the credit, IMO) became a serious PKer and that is what got him the 1st-rounder, after all is said and done. If he doesn't demand a raise, I'd have no problem bringing him back to lead the shut-down line again and running the first PK unit.
  2. Right? If it weren't for Sedin missing, the play early when kassian took Myers completely out of the play, opening up a 2-on-none for the Sedins is exactly why the Canucks got him, and I'm happy for both teams now. Because that Hodgson/Stafford/Ennis line is the best line in the last three games, just ahead of that new shut-down line (Gaustad who??)
  3. I watched a game once where I saw tons of hitting and RJ was yelling and everyone was cheering and at the end of the game the team had "officially" registered something ridiculous like four total hits. And I looked the next day to see if it was just a type-o but it was still there. It made me wonder how often that occurs and what, exectly, the people scoring the game are calling "hits".
  4. I think we'll be lucky, this soon after the trade and with the Canuck fans frothing over his departure, if he doesn;t lieterally get kidnapped and taken to some shack on the outskirts of Vancouver, never to be seen again.
  5. Did you see Kassian with Lapierre last night by any chance? Watch out, little Sabres, skate fast :D
  6. Isn't Schreiber also the antagonist in "Goon"?
  7. Know what? I'm excited for Bills football again, thanks! :D
  8. I like your analogy, mostly because we saw CJ indeed struggle early on, but were you watching there at the end of this season? Dude is again a man among boys. Maybe Gailey's playbook is simpler to learn than Lindy's.....
  9. Yeah, hmmm, that's right they were, huh....I'm tempted to ask my dad if the name of the barber shop is Eklund's Supercuts, but I don't think he'd get it.... My binary's a little rusty, but did you just say something about his sister and a rutabaga?
  10. I live in Albuquerque, so I'm not claiming to know any of this personally, and again, I don't normally feel comfortable sharing rumors like this, but I trust my dad...who said in that conversation that he heard that Kassian, himself, used to go to this place, heard that he was living out in West Seneca with a "friend" while he was here. If that's checkable, maybe my dad's credibility on this goes up, I dunno. Uh, what do you mean? My dad just got his hair cut yesterday. He either said that the players were "just in there" before him (he said it was two players that were talking to the owner guy about it), or he was actually there at the same time. Forget I said anything. It is what it is, a rumor. I'm trusting my dad. I don't expect you to.
  11. Do you attribute players suddenly reaching a new professional level who then strangely stop acting in ways they used to in the lower ranks, do you attribute that to them just forgetting their style of play or to the coaches in their new teams in the higher level forcing it out of them? I personally see it as the latter. Much like Fitzpatrick went from crazy gunslinger to timid INT thrower AFTER that presser where Gailey told the media he was going to "work with Ryan" on his penchant for throwing into double-coverage and taking too many chances with hsi throws. I mention that because of your comment about the "backup QB syndrome", which also illucidates your opinion regarding the Fitzpatrick argument. Players act one way with one coach and then go to another team and many times you see them "revert" back to what they were like before their previous coach got their paws on them, and often they flourish. I expect that's going to be Kassian. As happy as I am to get us another Calder candidate on this club, I am going to always wish we had a coach that, in my opinion, didn't keep trying to get his players to focus on positioning over finishing checks to the point where he screws with their heads.
  12. He might throw a tantrum about the silent "g" though, that could get ugly.
  13. So I never, EVER do this, because frankly I'm usually nowhere NEAR the loop to even dream of knowing any scoop that you all back home don't know weeks ahead of me. But my dad just told me today that when he was at his favorite barber shop in Orchard Park, he heard it from an inside source (i.e. player also getting his own hair cut at the time) telling the barber that the chances that Goose comes right back to the Sabres in the offseason are almost 100%. And unless whoever said it in my dad's presence is totally FOS, I'm putting Gaustad on all my 2012-2013 armchair rosters. Just sayin.
  14. Well, knowing these guys, whatever they call him, it'll sound good with "Gucci" or "Prada"...
  15. They say Lindy Ruff failed Chemistry in HS.
  16. Agreed. Kinda weird to have a player with the nickname containing the word "Ho" in it. But those vancouver folks, all hopped up on that weed, you know...
  17. Just saw someone in a Canucks-Coyotes message board call him "CoHo". Sorry if this has already been posted.
  18. Nice read. You sound like a newspaperman. And all I had to see on Hodson ;) is "prospective Calder candidate" and watch a clip by Robviously here on the boards to be happy we got him. But I'll always be sad to see Kassian go, and I really think he's going to make the fans in Vancouver cheer plenty, plenty.
  19. I really wish I knew which of my posts were so "obnoxious".
  20. @SDS: No, just a handful of you.
  21. I'm not being contrarian, I'm stating that everybody is taking not only my comments but GoDD's totally out of context. Maybe I should change my username, this is getting dumb now.
  22. What deal? The one out of a thousand we might have made with one of 30 different teams? I'm not saying Vancouver would have done the deal if what we were offering was our slackers. Someone might have taken Roy and another team might have taken Stafford, given us picks, and we could have used them to get a guy LIKE Hodgson, I dunno. The relevance is, I'm not sitting here thinking that the only deal on the board for the Sabres was Hodgson.
