  1. I would give the Habs Montour or Mittlestadt (and probably both of them) for Domi in a heartbeat.
  2. Jimmy Butler is one of my favorite NBA players.
  3. Yes -- that was the humorous twist in my post you hoser. Swamp got it. It was funny. As for PA's post -- yes, I did think that Flagg's post contributed to the heat in that discussion, as did many others. Can we please go back to discussing hockey in here now?
  4. Look at you getting the thumbs-up from @Eleven! Strange bedfellows, indeed.
  5. I'd be curious to know whether the group that left was brought in by Russ Brandon and/or whether it was targeted for downsizing/reassignment as a result of KA's organizational review (if that review included the Bills' front office -- not sure about that).
  6. As to the first bolded -- I agree with this description and would just add that determining the point at which a discussion should be moved is not something that's susceptible to mathematical precision. In this case, things went well beyond a discussion of the players' reaction, and got pretty heated to the point where 2 good, long-time posters left, so I thought it made sense to move it.
  7. I will be pretty unhappy if the Sabres' biggest offseason acquisition is a defenseman and not a 2C, G or 1RW/2RW.
  8. It wasn't really the question of whether NHL players have the right to speak their minds. Highly divisive and inflammatory stuff like race relations, which are intertwined with this shooting, should go in the politics club.
  9. Serious question: do you not think the Bills are generally in a good place right now? And if you do think they are in a good place -- why is it not likely that the Sabres will eventually get there too?
  10. Well, I'm not sure who chose that name and decor, but I also don't see what the problem is.
  11. Do you think Labatt felt like your posts were "careful?" It sure looked like he got offended and left -- which has happened a number of times as a direct result of people (not just you) blasting away with politically-related ad hominem attacks in threads on the main board. Neo left and now it looks like Flagg has done so as well. If your point is that discussions of race relations aren't political, I think you're just splitting hairs. There's a reason the politics club was formed. Keep it there, please.
  12. Moved a bunch of posts into the politics club.
  13. He was being sarcastic you hoser.

OK, one more job, but remember we agreed no more extraction missions after everything got FUBAR in Moose Jaw and @MattPie and @Cascade Youth lost their you-know-whats. I'm getting too old for this sheeee-iiiittt.
  15. I think Pittsburgh wanted a good, young, fast, relatively inexpensive forward who can score and pull his weight on a line with Crosby or Malkin before the window closes on this era, and that's what they got. I'd be interested to know what alternatives are out there fitting those parameters. Pitt gave up #15 overall and a prospect who is regarded as a potential bottom-6 winger -- so not a super-cheap price but not a high price either.
  16. This seems logical but OTOH sometimes if you wait you lose the deal. I would guess both Toronto and Pittsburgh are glad they acted now.
  17. The toronto-Pitt trade probably increases the pressure on teams like Calgary and Buffalo to make moves sooner rather than later, innit?
  18. This is fair, but I don’t think they could get a first-round pick for him in October, and probably not a high second-rounder either. He has loser Sabres stink on him.
  19. You probably know this already, but as part of the eviction, you need to clean up all mouse poop (and use some kind of cleaning product, not just a paper towel) or else the smell will attract more of them.
  20. Yes -- I listened to this interview and was very pleased to hear him speak so highly of Samuelsson. I think he also said something to the effect that Mattias was their captain and top defenseman.
  21. Have mercy kind sir. There is probably no real Sabres news for another 6 weeks or so, and no games for 4 months. If someone finds a random comment from Vanek 20 years ago, or Vanek’s favorite ice cream Flavor for that matter, new-thread-worthy — let him spread his wings and fly.
  22. Didn't Jimmy the Greek get fired from a CBS NFL show for this?
  23. But you accused him of misogyny, which literally means hatred of women. You are right that his comments were out of line. But not every offense is a capital one. A meatheaded comment about men thinking about sex when they're around women is not the same as misogyny.
  24. There's been some discussion in the playoffs thread about Monahan. Imm'a respond here because I think this is the logical thread for that conversation now that Calgary's been eliminated. I was not impressed with what I saw from Monahan during this playoff run. It was way too easy for the opposing D to get the puck out of the zone and going the other way when Monahan's line was on the ice. He's skilled, and created a number of scoring chances when he had the puck, but he sure didn't go out and get it. @dudacek's observation that Monahan is closer to Derek Roy than to ROR is spot on, and deeply troubling. Gaudreau, OTOH, was much more effective. I freaking love the idea of him on Eichel's wing, or him as the 2LW if the Sabres pick up a 2C elsewhere. And while trading for another LW seems nuts, I would trade Risto for him in a heartbeat. I guess where I'm at is that I'd be much less excited to give up Reino, #8 and Risto/Montour for Monahan and Gaudreau than I was before watching that playoff series. I could probably talk myself into it, and the point made in the other thread (maybe by @Thorny) that Monahan might thrive as a 2C instead of a 1C is a good one, but I would be apprehensive about giving up too much in total and expecting too much from Monahan.
  25. @dudacek can of course speak for himself but I thought he meant that RK would’ve had more comments about Taylor’s performance than about anyone else’s. As for the Lysowski item, I would think that normally the NHL HC would chat with his AHL counterpart a few times over the course of the season, but perhaps not. But either way I think RK must’ve formed a fairly negative impression of Taylor during that November stretch.
