  1. I played NCAA and lots of 19 year olds miss or are late to meetings, but it's not always news or results in a suspension. It's life. 19 year olds arent perfect at anything and any NHL GM will tell you that. No one is saying what he did is right or should be left un-addressed, but hes a kid and has a lot to learn.
  2. There's only a handful of under 20 kids who play regularly in any given season. It looks really bad on him to have two incidents in such a short time. But A LOT of incidents happen with younger players and don't make it into the news, but the team is aware. You're being pretty hard on the kid who is only 19 and playing in the best league in the world. None of us know what it like and none of our jobs are similar.
  3. He has the right to that if he wants. Again, you're dodging the point to make an obtuse suggestion.... That TP has interefered with hockey ops or made roster demands. I'm not here to defend or not defend TP, but I have several friends working inside NHL orgs and I can tell you without question TP is not even top 5 "meddling" owners or ownership groups. The reason people keep telling you "everyone does it" is bc you and others are suggesting that an involved owner is ipso facto a bad thing.... when it's not. Then you insist on taking things to the "logical extreme" which is actually a logical fallacy, and dilutes your postulations quite significantly. Your misuse of logic isn't helping your and others' cause.
  4. Has to be. It's a world class city but it can't be fun to have every shift scrutinized 24/7 and not be able to go out for dinner without being stared at, kinda like playing for the Yankees but with an accent.
  5. Precisely, he's an owner of a sports team, not a politician. I'm not sure how you hold him "accountable" seems to be a phrase without meaning in this context. I'm not positing such logic, simply saying that Terry is not an anomaly and his activity is much more par for the course. Owners want to know what's going on and be involved, if only to be informed. Again, there has been zero "evidence" that he has interfered with hockey ops.
  6. You get that with any city. Buffalo has a lot less to offer than most NHL cities. Also that drive from the airport to the rink is negative advertising.... brutal stretch. No but being close to a major US and fairly close to NYC is a big sell.
  7. Yea Ithink the only time you would get a good player back would be if one team really needs help in one area and is willing to sacrifice depth at another. Doesn't happen too often like you said.
  8. It's a pretty ridiculous argument. I have yet to see one example where some move that was good for the team was overruled by King Terry.
  9. By whom? Holding an owner accountable for what exactly? He owns the team and does as he wants. So meddling is ok sometimes maybe but only if it turns out good, so bad meddling is not good, but how does an owner know what is good vs bad meddling? If you dont think most owners aren't at least as involved as TP and KP you really don't know what you're talking about. It's intellectual dishonesty. Terry is always wrong unless he gets the #1 coach.
  10. Yea exactly. He's not going to let Nolan knowingly ruin some of our young players. He has to have some level of trust. Some people are wayyyyy overthinking this
  11. He's pretty bad. The game is just too fast for him. He played just over 6mins last night.
  12. Winter classic http://frozennhl.blogspot.com/2007/05/winter-classic-2008.html
  13. I didn't think Panthers fan existed...... almost as endangered/extinct as panthers themselves
  14. grant fuhr had issues http://articles.chicagotribune.com/1993-06-18/sports/9306180167_1_grant-fuhr-charity-golf
  15. He was an RFA and didn't need to sign for 6 years. Again, if VAN was his place to be he could've made that happen. Also no way to know if Van will have cap space. Both Sedins are up then too. The Sabres lost their best Dman, top RW and top Goalie. They are still much worse than EDM. They would be way behind EDM if not for Enroth getting all Hasek-esque for a stretch.
  16. Kane wouldnt have signed a 6 year deal if he was dead set on Vancouver. The sabres were worse than the Oilers before the deals yesterday and are much worse on the ice for the remainder of the season.
  17. From EF : List of NHLers who also scored 30 goals when they were only 20 years old:::Alexander Ovechkin, Steven Stamkos, Ryan Smyth, Jaromir Jagr, Jonathan Toews, Evgeni Malkin, Anze Kopitar, Patrice Bergeron, Marian Gaborik. The dude is only 23, has accomplished what many players drafted at #1 and #2 overal havent, and you take umbrage with why people are excited? The guy has average 0.3G per game (which is roughly 25 goals a year/82 games) and thats with injury problems. He's also never really had a center to play with.... but yea people shouldnt be excited. He has elite level talent but is yet an elite player. I think you'll see the difference when he plays or if you have ever really watched him play.
  18. A UFA goalie for a UFA goalie for a 3rd + a possible 2nd..... that's a good hockey move. Give up nothing for something.
  19. I did but only bc I thought they were being too obvious liek you said. Then when the slow music started playing I thought I was watching one of those Sarah McLaughlin (sp?) abused dog commercials. Typically after an episode or two like this.... the Shhhhhh is on in the next few.
  20. To that extent they have yet to refuse to pony up big assets. If and when he does get traded we will get a better idea of what other GMs think of his worth. His worth is prob a little more inflated bc he is a R handed shot, and those are hard to find and pretty valuable for PP purposes. (DET has all Lefties -- ANA has a few)
  21. Do you take everything to the extreme? No one said he's a passenger or implied the same. But playing on a good or bad team makes a difference. Especially a developing Dman prospect. You're actually claiming to remember how good Chara was in 2002 in all situations? nearly 13 years ago ? cmon man. Every player has a role or part in whether a team is good or bad. Your statement makes no sense at all. If myers is half as bad as you purport why are two really good franchises reportedly willing to pony up big assets for him? Because he's the catalyst in making this Sabres team bad? Or he's a decent player with lots of potential upside and can reall help a Cup contender?
