Don't feel overqualified. Those lower leagues are often filled with overqualified players looking to be "Connor McDavid." I tried to come back after my knee replacements and I joined what was supposed to be a novice league and found myself boat raced at every game.

That's just how it is for Buffalo. The only reason we have teams in two major pro leagues is legacy. Lose either team and they will never be replaced. But the good news is we get our $850MM back.

But it does discourage relocating, by about a billion dollars. Like I said before, the last Bills lease had a $400MM buyout. Terry himself could pay off that state contribution and move the team if he wanted to. Nothing is ever set in stone. I bet more than half the teams in the NFL could be moved with enough money. Barring catastrophic injuries, I have full faith they will be. But the bigger question is if you won't show up for players like Thompson and Dahlin, being a top scoring and top power play team, then what will you show up for? Playoffs? You can't run an NHL franchise if you only fill the building for playoff games. If I owned the Sabres and had to pony up a couple hundred million for a new arena, I honestly don't know if it would be worth doing.
