Flagg, what an explanaition of measuring players worth and I got where you are coming from. As with Pi, I think there are many variables that measure a players worth... line, variable of teamates, goals for personally and line he plays on and against, situational use, injuries to himself or linemates, line combination consistency and even things like on ice time protecting a lead or leading or just on ice leading a comeback..., who steps up and when? My problem with stats have always been two fold, sample size creates anomalies and trying to boil down to a few variables creates intended or unintended bias and thus skewed misued stats.

Your forgetting Pu. If he continues to develop, I think he fits in here somehow and you left out Pominville. Generally I like those lines. Thinking there is room to move a winger or Larsson once Pu develops... Again, nice problems to have and who knows who comes out of next year's draft.

Now that is a thought... Gil would have blown McDavid outta the water imo as much as I think McDavid is incredible. Not sure who is comparable and guys aren't able to skate up the middle like he once did, but think more Patrick Kane with McDavid's drive and toughness or Crosby's toughness in this last playoff run.

Captain must be able to Grab Derek Roy, eat 100 Duffs Wings resulting in farts that can clear 2 rows of Muffy and Daves at the Arena, use real horseradish on their beef on weck... leap tall buildings in a single bound, measure how deep Lake Erie is with a body part, fish with said body part and catch steelhead... what else????

Boy Wonder did look good on the wing and looks like he knows how to finish... He and Asplund on a line with say Bailey on a third line makes me drool. still think Sam plays a hybrid wing center with Jack and Kane. Put Nylander with KO and ROR. I forget their handedness... but it might not matter. Checking line of Larry, Fasching and Girgensen and you now have a contending NHL team! Pu gets a year in AHL with call up option and who knows who else surprises Sabres the year after that Glotov? Give Sabres some cache to find/ draft or trade for a top D. Who know about injuries. Still think the coming year is about development for all these guys. Keep forgetting about Rodriguez, see if he develops further, but I think he might have hit his ceiling. Another one along with Baptiste and Bailey who need to prove it. Nice problem for Sabres to have!

The only problem is those are Kane's goals, not the one's where he just flung the puck at the net when he should have passed... that is his downside... vision or patience with the puck. Would like to see his assists go up. But it bears repeating... others have said he is one of the few guys that can keep up with Eichel on a full out sprint.

Still in show me mode until some of the recent draft picks... Ghule, Nylander, Glotov, Middlestadt, Fitz, Borgen, and others take the next step. If Sabres again draft well next year, the next few years should be fun to watch but I'm still in show me mode.

That would be my hope, but not sure until contract is signed, interim ROR if not.

Not sure if it is Eichel, he needs to step up with consistency, ROR to me makes the most sense with his experience unless Jack is gonna be committed and vocal. May depend on his contract and when it is signed. If you go this route then make ROR, a healthy KO as a spokesman type and Risto or Scandella on back end. How many assistants captains can a team designate?

McCabe more too, You don't get 30 goals from shooting only from bad angles, though I agree he does do it more often than he should. Needs to hold the puck more when he doesn't have a shot and look to make a play. Think he gives up on doing that too often.
