I think the Sabres might be hard pressed to actually acquire a 2/3 C and may have to sit tight for part of the year. I am betting they will be better than last year with the accession full time of Oloffson and the D playing better but unless Thompson, Nylander and Asplund all take the next step the Sabres won't be that much better. Maybe by trade deadline teams desperate for D will start inquiring and be willing to trade for one... but till then we will all be sitting on our hands. It could happen that something shakes out later this summer, but I am betting not til then at the earliest.

Oof, as long winded and civil as this discussion was/is it sounds like attempts to understand Botts motivations for the moves he has or hasnt made by to an extent getting into his head.... and the tough part, getting a better understanding of what actual opportunities are out there and if he missed on any reasonable ones. Makes my head spin... but I think we all are trying figure out at the GM level what can be made to happen and at what cost?

No Cozens is literally... pinning means using either a screw or k-wire. BTW heals pretty fast... give a month or 2 at most if they remove it post.

Have to agree that Botts may have missed his opportunity in free agency to find a 2C or 2C/3C though Johanssen is still out there. Wingers can be found and Vesey at least gives an workable if not ideal option. Mitts and Cozens are developing... betting Mitts the following year will hit his stride and Cozens in 2-3 years. In the meantime tic toc tic toc though Botts is looking for the proper fit and Im not sure he has found it. If he can sign Johannsen then he can take his time with Risto or whomever and it becomes about tweaking the line up.. not filling it with NHL players.
