  1. I’d be surprised if the NHL didn’t do dumb ***** like this
  2. I’m not sure what’s real anymore
  3. I have no problem with Kyle and Z as hockey players or people. My problem with them is that this team needs more sandpaper from their 4th line cuz they sure ain’t getting it anywhere else in the lineup. I thought Greenway would help in that department. So far that seems like a bad miscalculation on my part. His play historically should have given me a clue. Maybe a team with 9 highly skilled forwards and 3 grinders who aren’t overly physical but will lock down opponents and chip in offensively can work but this fanbase may never see it that way. Way too many May Ray Barnaby disciples (me being one as well) that crave on ice carnage.
  4. Honestly, I never hated GMTM. He had his deficiencies but he like the kind of players I liked. If Borgen and Hagel were still in the org, this list looks quite a bit better. His hit rate for NHL players per draft is probably better than most. Draft picks after the second round have less than a 20% hit rate so he was doing ok. The 2014 2nd round is a problem. It should have restocked this teams depth for years. Instead, it decimated it.
  5. Dominique Foxwurth stated he didn’t think the Bill ms and Diggs could come back from this WITHOUT KNOWING A SINGLE FACT OF WHAT HAPPENED. Sorry end rant.
  6. Oh yeah. I’ve heard pundits who don’t even talk football regularly stating McDermott is on the hot seat.
  7. I don’t really know if that’s true. I never said that stupid math thing and I’m leery of this administration’s football aptitude.
  8. At 24 years old, he’s a much more well rounded player than either Kulich or Savoie. Obviously, Savoie adds a different problem to the equation as he can’t go to Rochester. Lukas Rousek is easily the most ready to contribute in a checking role and will chip in plenty of offense.
  9. That’s certainly a roll of the dice
  10. Is it McBean that has gotten us here or is it Josh? They drafted him. Good on them. They stuck with him and got him a #1 WR. If Kinkaid blows up and is Travis Kelce. I’ll be back on board with McDermott and Beane. Right now the grade is incomplete.
  11. So you want to go into the season with Levi and UPL?
  12. Did you call the Wookiee, Chewy? 🥰
  13. I’m glad you and the majority of the fanbase are smitten with McBean. They are good. Just not sure they are great.
  14. I thought the literal definition of backing in is when another team controls your destiny. Which the Bengals did on that fateful New Year’s Eve.
  15. I disliked most of the 90s Bills. Same with the 00s Sabres. Just not likable guys. Bills were way too arrogant. Jim Kelly’s weird western Pennsylvania accent always made me cringe. Drury’s “no BS” attitude just rubbed me the wrong way. It was probably necessary for those teams but to borrow a phrase from Craig Rivet, those teams were soft as puppy poop.
  16. The writer positions Pesce as a big trade piece to acquire someone or something. That would mean a roster player and/or a high draft pick from the Sabres. So who from the Sabres would they be interested in?
  17. I started a new thread for Pesce.
  18. Made me think for a bit. It’s easily 17 now. But before that isn’t an easy answer for me. Moulds probably.
  19. You cannot imagine the delight I read that last paragraph with because I had no idea what you are talking about.
  20. Naw it was “sleep apnea”
  21. The early successes of the McBean era were low hanging fruit. They backed into the playoffs and ended the drought. They drafted Allen and to their credit stuck with him even though early on it was hard to tell what we had in him. Outside of that, most of the moves have been chalk without any big hits in the draft. The 2nd round picks have been abysmal. They reached for Edmunds, Elam is good but their handling of him has been weird. Groot could be great but now he’s buried behind Von and Floyd. Their asset allocation for the D line has been so unbalanced, they have 4 backups/special team players battling it out for the starting MLB position.
