Is it safe to assume that Friday is simply the day after locker clean outs and player evaluations?

    Yes.

If Pegula (?) waits until after then to fire these twits, this team is more ***** than I thought.  And I’m not sure I want them fired but make a decision already.

Please. A **** show is under 20 wins. This was a mediocrity. This is the analog of the Bills string of 7-9 seasons. Not good enough for the playoffs, not bad enough for a top pick.

I know why you say this but I think everyone was expecting a solid playoff year.  It was doomed almost immediately. Every key game was lost.  Anytime they absolutely had to have it, they fell on their face.

I had no expectations until this season.

Exactly. We wonder what might have been if Connolly, Numminen, Tallinder, Kalinin, and McKee stay healthy (Cup victory).

But what GM Sheevyn and we forget is how that Canes roster was loaded with proven playoff warriors who could still play. And Justin Williams who would soon become Mr Game 7.

The roster that he was A FREAKING A PART OF btw.

Don’t need to tell you guys about the flaws of +/-.

But within that context it does give you some indication of how successful a player has been in his role and relative to his team.

On a team that is -7, 20-year-old Nikita Novikov is +19, far and away the best on the Amerks.

He has 23 points in 62 games.

No idea what the underlying metrics and eye test is saying, but the numbers look promising.

Mattias Samuelsson had 12 points in 23 games as a 20-year-old rookie, and was -8 on an inferior Amerks team.

Very excited to see him on the big team eventually.

He’s a big strong confident kid. Keeps the game simple.  Couple be a great pairing with Power or Byram.

I did and I learned that there are loud rumors of the sale/relocation of the Rochester Knighthawks. I don’t expect there to be any pity about it on a Buffalo message board, but it sucks for us in ROC…even if support for the Hawks has dwindled.

I did some searching around and there’s a lot of smoke on this.

Glad you were able to get some info that important to you. I feel like this rendition of the knight hawks isn’t your dad’s indoor lacrosse team. Kinda of a copy of a copy of a copy.  It’s fun and entertaining but it’s not the same franchise that was here in the 90’s.

Watched first few episodes of Fallout. I’m really enjoying it.

Fallout is a great show and a breath of fresh air in terms of entertainment.

I never played the game.  I’m aware of it and watched my bro play.  It’s wacky.  Walton Goggins in genius in everything.  Ella Purnell might be pushing Sydney Sweeney down my celebrity crush ladder.

Dispite our long term mismanagement, dysfunction, lousy coaching, and poor nhl level player performance, we have gathered many young talented minor league players. It fills me with pride.

Eh Kulich, Rosen, Novikov, Neuchev, Levi, Savoie, Östlund, Strbak, Ratzlaff, Wahlburg.  Is that good?  And they are spread over 6 leagues.  I suppose you could include Benson.  Not sure if that’s great or not. Strbak, Savoie and Wahlburg are the only non-goaltending prospects I’m interested in.  I think the rest of the players are more of the same as we have.  Maybe Östlund becomes a good two way NHL forward.

Just finished the first season of this Scifi show based on a trilogy from a Chinese author.  You may recognize the names of the show's creators, Benioff and Weiss.

    Enjoyed that one.

First 4 episodes had me riveted.  I still have the season finale to watch.  Crazy show.

He did it because he was the Rick Martin Award winner.

Anyone who doesn't think it's going to be Dahlin hasn't been paying attention.

Neither has anyone who doesn't think it should be Dahlin.

I honestly wonder if there's some weird mix of Euro-bias and people who are still thinking of 18-year-old Dahlin when this conversation happens.

He's the best player, the hardest worker, the guy who sticks his nose in the most, and the guy who cares the most.

I hope the "stand-up for his teammates" crowd was watching how that meeting of the minds at the end of tonight's game got started.

If his name Stemhavolinski and he had a five-o'clock shadow the poll would be unanimous.

His hit started it but he’s gotta grab someone there.  All your teammates did, not doing so shows that you aren’t in it with them.  I will sheepishly admit that I may subconsciously have an anti-euro bias.  The beard thing is probably the same.  If dude could grow one like Tuch, I’d probably like him more. Stupid, yes. It’s 52 years of my brain subconsciously interpreting beard=man.

By the way, anyone who thinks that the fight at the end of the game was not staged, does not know this team at all. That was so scripted it was pathetic. Hey, let’s leave these fans one lasting image of a team that we do not represent in a slightest.

I get why you are here mentally, I was there for 3 months from the start of 2024. I’m coming around. As a parent, I feel for these guys.  I do think they are trying and want to win.  They just don’t have all the answers yet.

As far as the fight being staged, did Dahlin purposefully take out the Caps player at the end of regulation to instigate the scrum?  I highly doubt it.

The remarkable thing about Benson is that he didn't fade as the grinding season advanced. Not only did he hold up well but he got better as the games passed by. What's so remarkable about his season is that this youngster played a physical style of game. He was arguably our most tenacious forechecker and our most willing player to position himself in the tough areas in front of the net. This young guy is the model that the rest of his teammates should emulate!

There are two surprising takeaways from this season for me. The first is the play of UPL. I didn't expect him to play as a good #1 goalie so soon. The second surprise may be even bigger: the unexpected quality and tough play of Benson. It's going to be interesting to see how much better he will be next season.

I think part of the reason everyone mentions Benson’s tenacity is that so few Sabres posses this quality.  He stands out.  I believe most scouts had Benson as a top 5 talent in the draft but the Neanderthal’s that run NHL teams still place importance on size.  It’s the size of the fight in the dog not the size of the dog…yada yada.  Guys with his talent should be 1st line players. Nothing I’ve seen says he can’t be that.

As far as UPL goes, his path to #1 goalie was not linear.  Much like a lot of goalies. He faced injuries, illness, COVID shut down, limited success in the AHL but inevitably he showed up when most goalies do, their mid 20’s.

    Make Benson Captain.

Send a message to the roster heavily weighted with talented loafers who detest a physical game.

An 18 year old short guy who should have been in Juniors has the most guts. Sad. Nice roster makeup.

Giving him a letter would almost be unprecedented, making him the Captain is straight up lunacy.

Best fight/scrum at the end there I’ve seen all year. I’d give it a solid B-. They still looked like fragile kittens throwing haymakers

Let’s just happy they participated.  I only wish they figured out this 80 games ago.
