  1. This guy? No thanks. Unfortunately, it’s most likely going to be him. Sigh.

You want "accountability"?!?!  Tuch is the one who would be best at delivering that message to his teammates, both on and off the ice.  I felt he was the most natural leader of any of the players I've seen on this team.

Please make this word go away.  Every “real fan” has been parroting this since midseason.  Be original.

I see literally zero reason to trade any of those 4 guys. A new coach with structure and discipline will be enough of a catalyst; we don’t need to start picking apart the core.

Tage is a 1C when healthy, Dahlin is a 1D and Power has the potential to be another 1D regardless if you like their approach or not they are all extremely talented. Cozens is the only member that’s more of a wildcard. He could be a 2C or top line winger and when he plays how he should; he’s a force to be reckoned with.

Cozens is the one I have the least questions about 😀

Amerks are on a tear and still fighting for 1st seed so that's probably why they didn't.

    That's exciting.

I’m excited about Östlund, everything that I’m reading on him says solid two way player.

We’ve seen tons of kids attempt to make that transition at the end of a season or in the playoffs, it hasn’t gone well for most. Noah may be just fine but it’s anything but a certainty.

Guys drafted in his range in the first round 15th-20th overall....tend to be busts, or at most marginal NHL players at close to a rate of 50%.  It wouldn't be a surprise if he was just that.  Now, there are some cases where guys take a while to develop..they get to a certain age and all of a sudden, seemingly out of no-where, it all clicks. But usually you would see signs of that.  20 career goals in 215 career games, and 46 assists....its a little bit worrysome.   That is 7.5 goals and 17.5 assists, 25 points over 82 games.  Almost 3 full years in the NHL, a cup of coffee in the 4th year.  I don't know, it COULD still happen for him but right now I'm not hopeful.

Here is the bottom line for me. If it DOES click for him, I don't want it to happen while continuing to give him time on this roster. I think whatever ice time he would get here, its time to give it to someone 'better' right now.

Now, I'll contradict most of what I said and say you sigh him. Why?  I highly doubt you get anything of value for him in a trade.  So you sign him, let him try to blow you away in camp. If he does and EARNS a spot on the roster, great! if he doesn't down to Rochester he goes.  If he gets picked up on waivers on the way to Roch, well, you didn't want him up here anyway.

I’d refrain from the bust (inkman rarely does this) term for late 1st round picks. If you are expecting a top line player there, your expectations were off.  Sure, you get a Peterka occasionally but more often than not Girgensons is what you end up you.

Wasn't he dishing two assists per game during last year's amerks playoff run? Vision yadda yadda.  Adjustment hasn't gone well I guess but it's not like he's Girgensons.

He does have a good eye for open spaces on the ice to put the puck for his linemates. What he struggled with early on was trying to do what worked in the AHL vs NHL teams. It wasn’t working, turnover central.  Saddling him with stone hands Z and cement skates Okie really nullified any chance he had at creating offense.  He worked well in between JJ & Quinn in the A.  Not that I would want to reunite them now.  Both 77 & 22 have elevated their games.  Krebs has not.  Maybe someone like Kulich and Greenway would work well together with him. Hopefully our new coach either figures that out or he gets moved.

See, I saw the Mitts trade as exactly this.

Do you disagree, or think it wasn’t enough?

Maybe but Mitts was having his best season.  Kevyn picked the wrong guy (I know RFA pending contract, yada yada). Trade someone that isn’t so convenient to trade.  I still think having 25,26,& 4 all on the left side is a surplus they should take advantage of. Move one.  I know who I would pick.

What has honestly happened is that many of you equate size with grit which I do not. Because of this whenever I speak on the matter it appears that I don't care at all about size when in fact I just care more about grit. It is why I was thrilled we got Benson. Idc Benson is 5'10", I care that he will eat your heart with a nice Chianti. Size matters only when it matters, versus grit matters always. If I am moving on from Krebs, I want someone who has more grit and has more weight to throw around with that grit. Basically I always come off as wanting the "small skill guy" because I value skill more than size. For a 3rd line center, I want tenacity/abrasion/grit and I think someone bigger than Krebs with those traits would be better.

I’m in line with this. Sabres have plenty of size. They use it to their advantage but they aren’t the kind of players that this team needs more of. Your Benson point is right on the mark.  I don’t care how big the guys are (ok maybe in defense I do) but the Sabres need Marchand not Patrick Kane. Give me jerks that are 5’10” instead of nice 6’7” guys.

The emergence of Benson makes Krebs redundant on this roster.  We only need 1 playmaking, undersized fire plug bouncing in between the middle 6.  We don’t need that type of player on the 4th line.

I’d like to see him packaged to address grit and toughness for the bottom 6z

The big difference is that 9 has top line skill, 19 does not.

I have no problem with keeping him or including him in a package that could give you a good return. What I'm not willing to do is pencil him in any role. He will have to compete and earn whatever role he is assigned to. Is there an upside to him? I don't know. He may be what he is now i.e. an inconsequential fringe player. Can he elevate his game like Mitts did over time (not necessarily to that extent)? That's up to him to demonstrate.

Benson came to camp last year with the expected likelihood that he would be sent back to the juniors. (Because of age rule he couldn't be sent to the AHL.) Benson earned a roster spot. That's my feeling on Krebs. He's still a relatively young player but he's played in enough games where potential, whatever it is,  needs to be translated into actual performance and production.

How much value does he have? Right now, it is very little.

He strikes me as an NHL 'tweener. Not skilled enough to play top 6 (or even float amidst a middle 6). Not enough sandpaper to be a valuable bottom 6 role player.

    Fair question.

I think you could get a plugger on a bad contract from a team with a dearth of skill.  Colombia?  San Jose?  Idk just spitballing.

I can't think of a more useless player on this team. Some people have to be traded and if Adams is hesitant in trading him, this team is in HUGE trouble.

He’s just inconsequential at this point.  He doesn’t scream “get him off my team” like Skinner or Olofsson.

Krebs is a RFA. Do you keep him or put him in a package.

I'd package him. I want bigger with grit. Trading for a middle 6 center would be smart.

Secondly, I don’t remember you having this mindset.  Did something change?  Are you just echoing idiots like me?

I don’t mind 19 but I think they can improve that role immensely. At least someone a little more suited for a bottom six checking role.  Someone like Laughton, Goodrow, one of these knuckleheads that plays a north south in your face game.  Other teams are chock full of these types of players.  The Sabres drafted 17 Russians that are still trying to learn the language and will never be in anyone’s face about anything.

Well he was right on about firings. Let's hope he's on about trades/changes as well.

It shouldn’t just be Krebs and Joki for draft picks either.  One of the core needs to go.  Put this team on notice. You guys don’t perform, see ya.  (I realize that could incentivize sand bagging) One of Tage, Power, Cozens or Dahlin needs to be shown the door.  The return should be substantial.  A top end of the roster player.  A good ol fashion hockey trade.

So Kevyn Adams has an offseason to improve the team eh?  Sounds good.

If they don't come out of the gate much improved over this year I don't think he makes it to Thanksgiving.

He can say anything he wants, but he said playoffs were the expectation this year... and it did not happen.

He might have decided early on to let the season play out and to back some of the things Granato and the team were saying rather than cause even more distraction like what occurred in Vancouver with Boudreau... who knows.  Either way... one offseason... that's it.

    Or what?
