Don’t agree, @inkman… Adams got so caught up in his search for prospects with “high character” he neglected to select for players with “high competitiveness”… We only have a few on our roster… We are loaded with Wannabes… No hockey mind is going to fix this franchise without roster change.

We agree.  I suppose I did not say it as eloquently as you though. 🙂

This roster needs to be built with all dustin brown types... Big, Power forwards, who stand in front of the net and can't be moved. We have the exact opposites, all small , skilled forwards who are waiting for the power forwards to go in front of the net but they never do. Something has to give here because this is not going to work.

Dustin was barely 6’ 200”.   I agree they need players with his mindset but he’s smaller than 50% of the Sabres roster.

Definitely, a situation where guys in Rochester are fighting for NHL spots would be great. Likewise it would be great if guys on the roster were fighting to stay on the roster from that same sort of pressure.

None of the prospects that have come up so far have overly impressed though. RJ has potential but he's just a greener version of what we already have. None of the other brief visits impressed. (I'm not counting Levi since the goaltending thing is a messed up separate discussion)

If we become a cap ceiling team rookie contracts will be important as they are for anybody as will cheap 4th line deals and veteran depth players on cheap deals but we are far from that point. All GMs have to balance incoming contracts against expiring ones and the circle of life continues but that worry is not today's worry for me.

    Peterka? Quinn?

Not even when Toronto gets eliminated in round 1?  Can I laugh then or keep it in bc they’re relevant thanks to being “lucky” to win the Matthews lotto due to their stealth tank the last 25 games of that season.

Yes.  I think I can.  And I will.  My team has had more playoff success the last 20 years than the Leafs.

You can cherry pick the narrative however you like. I know which team I’d rather have.

You must be real fun at parties, ever heard of enjoying a nice distraction of a rival in a sudden collapse

I’m miserable at parties. I don’t like people. Most of us suck.  Every time I leave my house I regret it. We are more stupid now as a society than we’ve ever been.  I went to see the new Godzilla Kong movie with my son Saturday.  The lady in front of me at Walgreens, where we stopped to get candy and soda for the movie, brought 2 cases of beer up to he counter, spent 10 minutes bartering with the cashier then walked out of the store with nothin.  Then at the theatre, the staff behind the counter, including the manager, were milling about while a line of a dozen people were waiting to get their concessions, they opened up another register and served some fat ***** that had just strolled into the lobby for a refill.  Do you know how far of a ***** you have to be to refill a 32 oz soda in less than 90 minutes?  They didn’t ask for the next customer, they just served the laziest, fattest piece of ***** in the building.

From a crass financial point of view only I don't see how they can bring Granato back. Crass as in he's going to lose you money. I realize they'll be eating some of his salary.

I’ve worked for owners who jumped for joy over piles of money to grab the pennies they could see on the other side.  Maybe Terry has surrounded himself with people that can prevent it. Maybe…

Sabres have so many young players. A lot of these guys are looking for immediate opportunity.

They signed Metsa last year who has been a very good fit in Rochester.

He has been.  My only gripe is that he’s a Bryson clone.  No more 5’9” defenseman please.

You would think he would be asking the tough questions.  Why the bad starts?  What did "we" (coaches, GM, etc.) do about it?  Was there other options for correction?

From there it is up to him to hand out pink slips or not.

That’s too deep into the weeds for my liking.  Who knows what he actually does but I’d rather not have the owner asking hockey questions.  The new Italian guy should be asking Adams those questions.  When his answers suck, which undoubtedly they will, he should fire Kevyn on the spot.

    It’s a matter of perspective

Saying we have “crumbled” in the “playoff push” is a complete misreading of the situation. The real issue is that it wasn’t really a “playoff push” at all, the pace we needed to play at was ridiculous thus falling short isnt “crumbling” at all. The issue was by far the inconsistency over the course of the full season.

We aren’t playing poorly in “must win” games we’ve just left ourselves zero margin for error. The Sabres have played at a playoff pace during the last couple months of the season, they haven’t “crumbled”, they just aren’t good enough overall.

    I mean, ya

Coaches get changed because their message gets stale. Their particular strategy. Their X’s and O’s and the buttons they push. If the message that isn’t getting through is, “the score gets tabulated in the first period, too” that’s a PLAYER ISSUE

I’m all for a new head coach and I’m not sure I even want to mention the pathetic looking assistants.  They need to be fired before they explode out of their clothes. Do the Sabres have a dietitian?  Can the coaches get some advice? Sheesh.

  9. How so many people exonerate the players is beyond comprehension.  I’ve lost faith in Granato and Adams but to think a different guy with different words is going to make them a Stanley Cup contender is baffling.  Do fans want coaches to bench Tage and Dahlin?  Put Rousek and Ryan Johnson in their place?  Or does the mean coach have to make them skate harder in practice?  Is that going to light a fire under players who can’t be bothered to be ready to play in the National Hockey League? The team is rotten to its core. They all need to go.  No one person is going to make them a serious team.

  10. In a season of disappointment, this thread easily takes the top spot as the most disappointing.  If they run any lineup out there similar to this season, I may have to stop watching.  Who has faith that any of the players listed, who have objectively failed at providing the bare minimum of success, can provide it in the future?

I don’t want to hear that a new coach fixes them.  You can’t change a tiger’s stripes.  These guys don’t have what it takes. They don’t compete, they don’t have mental toughness and they roll over at the first sign of adversity.

Honest question: do you really think he is good right now or is be big and he can be physical and that’s good enough?

There seems to be a portion of fans that just want big tough guys now.  Not saying you are in that group.

I think some people would trade   Buffalo’s first or Savoie for Rempe because he is tall and punches guys and that would fix everything.

Rempe is a bit of a sideshow but I’d trade Jokijarju or the forward equivalent plus some picks for him.  He’s not a great player but he brings things no Sabres does.

Go watch parayko play and then come back. Dude is a 4/5 defender with a bad contract and they don't go for 2 1st round picks and another 4/5 defender with a less worse contract. It's just a completely illogical trade to make.

Parayko has a terrible corsi at about 41.5% and a possession metric of -9.5 which is up from his -17 a year ago. He's about to turn 31 and has 5 or 6 years left at 6.5 mill.  You don't trade Savoie, a top 10 2024 first, and Samuelsson for that. It's a massive overpayment when in the NHL without retention, that's probably a 2nd or even just a 3rd round pick to get him.

Jack Eichel got almost this offer in a trade. He got a first, a prospect worse than savoie, and Tuch who's better than Muel. The other pick is what separates these offers. So if Parayko worth almost Eichel? No freaking way, that's why it's a massive overpayment.

Parayko is among the leagues worst contracts.  The Blues would give him away.  Someone mentioned trading a 2nd round pick for him.  That might be an overpayment. 🤣

Still thinking I was just listening to all that crazy media?  lol.
Yeah, I was WAY off.  🙂

The problem I had was you and Aud Smell(?) acted like you knew what was going on.  Talking like you KNEW Diggs wasn’t an issue inside the organization and anyone who suggested otherwise was wrong and crazy for thinking it.  You guys come on here and act like you know so much about the Bills.  But you both were so completely wrong and dismissed everything I tried to tell you as me just “listening to the media”.  When I’m fact, I never once said anything about the media.  I don’t get much of any of my Bills info from the media.  I have other ways that you probably only wish you had.  But it’s all good.  Nice to see you both backtracking on here.  lol.

    Peace

Two things can be true. The media can over blow perceived discretions and the person causing the issues can also be a giant tool.  They don’t have to be mutually exclusive.  I was hammered and came at you too hard.  Something I am willing to admit.

Levi needs to play every single minute of Amerks games til their season ends. Tokarski had a 4-0 lead. Now 4-4 against one of the worst teams in the league. He let's in two weak ass goals off faceoffs. Bum.

They need one more point to make the playoffs.  I think they will be fine.
