It's simple. His wait for Levi/UPL strategy sank this season as well.  Our goaltending was poor to start the season because we utilized a 3 headed goalie monster.  By the time UPL established himself as a true No. 1, the team was already out of contention and remained so.  Who created the 3 headed goalie monster? Adams and it's a reflection of his poor decisions making on development, free agency and roster construction.  Just because UPL bailed out his poor decisions for the last 50 games or so, does give Adams a pass for the failure to give this roster proper goaltending for years.

Great.  What’s the point of saying all this again?

WGR radio is garbage. The worst. Only Paul Hamilton is worth a listen.

Matt Ellis !    COME ON DOWN !

I’m not sure I could agree less.  Hamilton makes my skin crawl.  He’s like a drunk uncle that whines about the team with no real analysis or insight. This forum is far more resourceful for anything Sabres than him.  The rest of the WGR staff?  Meh the younger guys seem to have a clue, Schopp is annoying but he knows how to run a price radio show and Bulldog is a likeable every fan.

I agree with this point in general: they ain't mean enough.

Sick and tired of how everyone overlooks Dahlin in this conversation. He's an absolute prick out there and everybody seems to look right past it.

He's 6'3 and always dishing out the reverse hits, facewashes, hipchecks, ramming guys into the boards, sneaky elbows, hacks and spears: he does all that ***** people claim to want and nobody notices.

It was very nice a few weeks back to hear Torterella talking about what a competitor he is, because it seems like nobody notices.

It felt like there was at least a dozen games this year where I heard a visiting broadcaster say "Oh, and now --- is getting into it with Dahlin of all people. There's an unlikely combatant."

No it's not. Watch some ***** games. That's who he is.

Maybe that’s the problem, nobody notices.  I guess that’s an indication he’s getting away with some not so nice stuff. I just want Mike Peca type hits.  Jacob Trouba stuff.  Damaged players laying on the ice.  I’m sure what Rasmus does is effective and annoying but can we get at least one guy that inflicts pain upon the opposition.

It doesn't say he won't be, just that he's not speaking.

I wonder how many people have been in meetings with the owner of the place the work.  I don’t need to hear this ancient out of touch yahoo tell me about new paradigms, shifting philosophies, a new sense of purpose or whatever corporate schtick they spew.  It means nothing.  Action, not words, are what is required.

I’m probably in the minority, but I have no interest in adding a big ticket veteran free agent defenceman.

If I could effectively flip Jokiharju or Bryson for a stouter RHD I would, but I think we have our top 4 already and am not ready to make a significant investment in another.

A bottom 4 of Clifton, Jokiharju, Johnson and Bryson as a worst-case scenario is fine by me. Cliffy and Joki as the 5/6 are far from the problem with this team, both have looked pretty good in the 4/5 role in the back half of this season. Bryson appears to have recovered from the disaster that was the fall of 2022 and is far enough away from a top 4 slot to ease my worries.

The quickest, most efficient way to improve is for Mule to play 70 games and Byram and Power to play to their draft status. Power has shown a lot better over the season’s second half. Hopefully Byram will fully embrace the team and the opportunity. I wonder about his friendship with Cozens and whether it will help feed each other’s commitment or do the opposite.

Does any NHL team besides the Sabres have a D core that soft.  Clifton is the only one with any jam, at all.  Teams need to be leery of skating near the goalie.  Dmen actually need to clear players from the crease.  It makes me terribly sad that our defenseman don’t touch anyone.  It’s a physical game.  If you don’t have players that engage physically, you are at a serious disadvantage.

I don't need Kevin to make me feel better with rhetoric or sacrificial lambs.

I have three questions I want answered:

    1) One of the league's best offence's disappeared this season, apparently for 3 reasons: the power play was awful, the team could never get bodies and pucks to the net to score any greasy goals, and the team's 5 best goal scorers all regressed significantly.

Why did this happen and how are you going to fix it?

    2) This team was absolutely terrible in the first period.

Why did this happen and how are you going to fix it?

    3) Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen was among the league's best goalies since Jan. 1. Beyond that, the team and its individual players did not post particularly good numbers in any particular part of the game.

What are you going to do to make sure the Sabres won't be so reliant on one man to be the difference between winning and losing?

Good managers diagnose the root cause of problems and they make corrections.

I want to see a plan for addressing these issues and I will hold him responsible for its execution.

Please don’t tell me you honestly put this much stock in these press conferences. It’s verbal *****. No substance, no real answers. Just spewing corporate platitudes appeasing the masses.  Or not.  They just don’t mean very much.

I like @inkman so I will be nice about this: you don't show your cards while you're still playing your hand.

If they announced it would only be Addams Friday, then that would make tonight's game super awkward, including the post game media scrum.

I'm not saying Meatballs is staying or leaving, but they are clearly playing the status quo game for today, and probably tomorrow. Meatballs may very well be there and have to answer for this season's coaching job. Maybe they're happy to let him drive the final nails in his coffin, or maybe he's a wizard who has Pegula and Addams mesmerized.

They can let him go any time this month or throughout next month and still be smart about the timing.

Or they can keep him and fire the assistants.

Who knows? Friday don't mean a thing in the cold, cruel world of business.

Why not make the announcement later?  It just feels like the org doesn’t quite get it yet. Thanks for being cordial about it. I thought it would be a good discussion understanding the nuances of these situations.

Is it safe to assume that Friday is simply the day after locker clean outs and player evaluations?

    Yes.

If Pegula (?) waits until after then to fire these twits, this team is more ***** than I thought.  And I’m not sure I want them fired but make a decision already.
