You ever lived in the real midwest? I have. And while I love the people the summers are brutally humid and the winters brutally cold. I live in Cali now and am spoiled--But I think Buffalo summers are much better and the winters only slightly worse because of the lake effect snow.

What can you do in Toronto that you cant do in Buffalo? They dont have concerts in Buffalo?? Dont have festivals? Dont have a symphony orchestra?(ok ok i realize we are talking young pro atletes here),,Dont have great restaurants? Dont have a nightlife? Dont have the same crappy weather?

We need tough veteran players at this point. This will never work out just adding skill guys to a team with a foundation of weaklings. Even the 80s Oilers had a bunch of very very tough players to go with their freakish amt of skill guys. Its OK to sign players in their 30s...then while we go out there and are competitive and hit people and dont back away in the defensive zone we can wait for Dahlin to keep improving and for Middlestadt to learn to do a pullup -Hiring some coach to improve the play of this roster isnt gonna help that much. Its a roster problem not a coaching problem.

yeah lets blame this on Housley;););)...We have 4 good players on this team and the rest are AHL level skillwise and below that level re: toughness.

...excellent post!!! -
its not accurate --the 17 yrs ago- statement--.. they won a lot and were in the playoffs 4 times with 2 strong runs from 2002 to 2011 ..one losing season in that entire stretch

losing breeds losing. same solid teams are winners every year. like the sabres were before they were sold.

i like it. No more ***** Sabres -
The sabres were a very good and respected franchise until about 8 yrs ago. They were consistent winners without these endless rebuilding scenarios.

Oilers and sabres are making the same mistakes. We need to look at the bruins for what works in this league. -
true. not even close.and when people compare weights its a ridiculous premise. luce lived near me --saw him all the time.he was about 6'2'' and 178--but you would never mess with him he was like solid steel.-And who was the toughest guy on the sabres 1990s/early 2000s? Skinny Mike peca.

Oh dear lord the 75 Sabres would crush the 2019 sabres. Not even close. Whoever suggested otherwise must be having a laugh/troll. Luce,Ramsay,Korab,Scoenfeld,Gare,Perrault,Martin,hajt,McNabb,Robert,Stanfield... vs Eichel,dahlin,SkinnerRasmus.................and a lot of weak untalented nothing

we need to hit free agency heavily..picking up TOUGH vets who are not necc stars but 2 way players. we could get another wildly talented kid in the draft and still be the same weakling team we are now. If our roster isnt greatly changed(3-4 tough vets in top 3 lines) expect the same mediocrity--even if Dahlin turns into Bobby Orr . -
GDT - Sabres @ Colorado - March 9, 2019 - 3:00 PM - ALT; MSG-B

yep it is getting ridiculous with the pegulas.theyve accomplished what it is hard to do. and i guarantee their egos are too big to change anything. they want the the credit if things go well. -
lindy? brian spencer, eddie shack, don luce, craig ramsay, fred stanfield. go out and find their equivalents
-
this team needs much tougher players..that have some skill of course. this team is too young. the older guys we have are well faded finesse players.the gritty players dont fade with age because they dont rely on speed as much as strength and meanness. as many have stated on here this team makes the game much too easy for other teams-which nullifies the great work that Eichel and Skinner do. we need more of the right kind of age on this team.

staggering. punch imlach help us!!

Dudley must have had some hidden injury in the late 70s...Because he used to be very fast..Then in his later years with the sabres it looked like he was skating with leg weights on. -And he wasnt old at all.
