  1. Impressive Gil playoff information ...
  2. Gil owns my heart. Patty and Dale ...
  3. I just re-watched the shoot out. Good for Dom. Gretzky looks on, silently ... can you imagine the “one for the ages” had Gretzky taken that last shot?
  4. As an American, I found great joy in Canada’s victory after a 50 year drought ... in ITS game. Check out that roster, baby.
  5. I know how I’m spending a couple of hours this weekend. Just PREVIEW this.
  6. I, too, love that goal! Sakic was much more of a “favorite” of mine.
  7. You know, you could be exactly right with your decision. I love Sakic. We are discussing gemstones.
  8. I think Joe Sakic was a fantastic hockey player. One of my all time favorites. I would mention him and Forsberg in the same sentence. One game, I take Forsberg. If I lost the coin flip and got Sakic, I’d not lose a minute’s sleep. Two greats.
  9. I thought Lindros (prospect) > Forsberg (prospect). I did not think he was Hextall, Duchesne, Ricci, Huffman, a first-round pick in the 1993 draft, $15 million (1992), Chris Simon and a 1994 first round pick better.
  10. Yes, no doubt, if I had any inkling of what Forsberg would become. Hell, I’d take Forsberg straight up, in hindsight. However, at the time of the trade, I only knew Forsberg was a “trending up” prospect. So, no, after considerable thought. In my fifty years, there are a handful of names at the top of any chart. Lafleur, Dionne, Gretzky, Orr, Lemieux, Crosby, Ovechkin, and perhaps Howe and Richard (they were old; I was young) who stand truly alone. Forsberg is in the next group, and there are some crazy greats alongside him.
  11. Oh, I get it. Not my in laws, thank heavens, but haven’t we all known the nincom-ninny who fails to recognize he jeopardizes others while describing his own, dumb ass, cavalier attitude about this or that? You nailed the “character” and the feeling they generate inside the sane. ”Oh, Darwin ... DAR-win!”
  12. The learned will add .. 1). Forsberg was a sixth over all viewed as over drafted at the time. He put in two to sasons with MODO while a Flyer prospect where he excelld. He’d yet to play an NHL game at the time of the trade. 2). Ricci had two NHL seasons at 45 or so points per. 20/25 guy. I thought he could be the best Flyer in the trade. 3). Duchesne was mid career and put up some big numbers (40 to 75 pt) earlier in his career while in LA with high scoring teams on defense! 4). Huffman was a 4/6 defenseman. 5) Hextall was a proven winner on some good Flyer team, mid career. His numbers were “meh”, but that was a different era. I thought Que fleeced Philly even before Forsberg became an all time great.
  13. Interesting fodder for musing .... First, the article says he was hosting service “despite public orders urging residents to stay home ...”. I’m not sure what "orders urging" means. Second, Five Guys is open. Burgers, dogs, fries, soda and shakes. Apparently it’s essential, but the church isn’t. I’d not start arresting people until I was ready to start arresting people. This is truly rubber meets the road territory; believers and non-believers, and all that. I don’t spend a lot of time in the “my science trumps your God”, or vice versa, spaces. Each statement demonstrates a lack of understanding of the other. Faith and Science may be history’s greatest Apples and Oranges. I've never felt the need to jettison one in favor of the other. I’m looking at this like I look at schools and vaccinations. Freedom, belief, public policy ... we have fewer philosopher kings than N95 masks.
  14. Oscar Wilde so wonderfully disturbed me with “Life imitates art far more than art imitates life.” I am an Aristotelian, after all. I wake to see Joe Exotic tussling with a Liger. Oh, Mr. Wilde, come hither!
  15. If you just started, you’re about seven zip codes away from the bat**** crazy.
  16. My favorite person is a young lady who lost an arm to a tiger and was back at work the following week. I don’t have a second favorite. Edit to add ... I wrote “young lady” before seeing “trans” references. Maybe I missed that in the show. In any event, he or she is my favorite person,
  17. There are few things I miss more than Friday fish fries during Lent. Now, I may have gone potato salad and malt vinegar fries, but I write that only as an “aside”.
  18. For the record, my laugh emoji wasn’t directed at Jack. I don’t think UBKev’s was, either. I think he’s poking dun at the circumstances despite Jack.
  19. Don Luce, Assistant Captain.
  20. Spec tac u lar. Dark stoned The Rat!
  21. I’m laughing .... ah, my misspent youth. Jim Lorentz givin’ it to Terry O’Reilly. Have to see it to believe it. Those Big Bad Bruin teams hated playing the Sabres, victory after victory notwithstanding.
  22. 1). I’ve not met a dum-dum here. Well, one, but .... 2). There are some dumb ideas. I have them in inventory, like everyone else. 3). Ideas are best first digested one by one and alone. One hundred people get 100 different results, over time. Put down the calculator and do the long division and you’ll get a more personally valuable result than I can ever give you. 4). One man’s thought provoking is another man’s obtuse, another’s dense. My reviews include all three words. Self aware, acknowledging ..
  23. PA is one up on me. I’ve heard “not if you were the last man on earth” more than once.
