I've watched .... awesome.
-
Goodly most!

This thread would've been cool had it been "post a picture of what you think the other person looks like". Love, Vladimir
-
Awesome ... Same about the thread idea. You have to sing bass.

I think I do! That's why I chose it. Of all the web photos, Brando's stocky bald guy seemed "me" to me. I think you sorta? look like yours.

I "see" you as your lost bet avatar.

I'm going to listen, tonight. I think I'm going to like this, regardless of aisle. Fear is a strategy for both major parties. Your source ("TED") is often spectacular. Ideas in earnest, not in sound bites. For those interested (and, consisted with my view of you all, I believe many of you will be), watch this one: https://www.ted.com/talks/deb_roy_the_birth_of_a_word It's not Politics, but it's cool. This video was my introduction to TED.

Things that are awesome ...

... Unless they're going to the airport .... "Honest, I forgot it was there ..."

Great thought starter. I'm interested to see if GMTM's thoughts on UFAs changes after this season in light of how he's brought the team along. UFAs may be more attractive to him in light of what he's assembled. A big ticket compliment is not a big ticket building block.

I agree. I'd be interested in a "goaltender" poster's view of Bishop's feet. He's so tall, but seems to have the quickest of feet even before he's down covering the lower portion of the net.

Tampa tv team was impressed and respectful. I'm not sure what feed you had in Buffalo. Contrast with the last few years where Zadorov standing up for Zemgus or Kaleta making a statement were the highlights. Awesome, IMHO. Let's keep the locker room positive. I'm sure Double D's on that.

Well, changed plans ... my daughter and her bf went without me. But .. awesome! Shots 14-3

To Ink ....you never let us down.

Phoebe Cates for $60, Alex ....

Classic! I will be representing tonight. Tampa's a fine "other favorite" team to have. The arena experience is very good. I've watched the fans evolve over 18 years. I'm no longer the guy who can explain icing "other than the 2,000 Red Wing jersey guys". There are interesting parallels in terms of real estate development as well. http://www.tampabay.com/news/business/jeff-viniks-1-billion-plan-for-downtown-tampa-finally-revealed/2210519

NO! We have enough of them. His charm, his gift, his value ... all stem from the fact that he's "un" actual. I think I get your overarching point about credibility and thoroughness. I just want him to retain his special mojo. We have Anderson Coopers and Brett Baiers.

I "met" John Oliver here, on SabreSpace. I dig him. The part real news, part comedic satire, is dead on. There was a place for that when I was a boy, and there's a place for it now. I enjoy his m, and he makes me think, all the while smiling. Words I never thought I'd say: "Right on, Eleanore Holmes Norton". It's hard to imagine a Cronkite today for just the reason several of you have mentioned. As much as I liked Walter, I am a larger fan of the frenetic pace of ideas coming at me from unexpected angles. Imagine the political discourse back in the day when we all went to work or school informed by the same three white men. We didn't know what we were missing. Here's to the accelerated pace of change and the discomfort it brings. Pandas and PoundTown.

My God. My carrion thread nightmare, alive and staring me in the face. I remember being emotionally cuddled by TBPhD's analysis and Claud Veret's blind faith ... What a realistic article. It's gratifying to look at what could have been in the comfort of knowing it wasn't

Well, yes, I'm one step removed from the boardroom. Better said, I ratified and rewarded the choice, making the next one more likely. I don't have domestic choices, you're right. That's because I (I'll not say the inflammatory "we"; you can choose to recognize yourself or not, respectful) will always choose the lowest cost and better value. For much, but not all, of my consumption, that comes from overseas, or it comes domestically from firms paying low wages. I consume, I ratify, I reward. I ate at McDonalds on Monday. I know what they're paid. That's my "we". Choose, ratify, reward, demand. Pension decisions are made by HR departments who recommend to owners. The HR staff plays soccer with my kids. I have a savings account at a big bank. Her name is Sandy. I like what I see in the mirror, too. My decisions have consequences for me and others. With great respect for you all, I'll check out before Angry Eleven feels compelled to do push ups!

I hope, and trust, that you do. I will take you at your word that you are not the bogeymen. I'm watching a television on a Sony, made by machines in Japan while eating pineapple, picked at some God awful wage. I'm typing on an iPad, made by the largest company, by market cap, in the world. I offshore every day.
-
True, although you and I define fair differently, in all likelihood. All in all, true. "We", not the bogeymen. If you mean what I think you mean, I, too, was there. It's been done to me. I've done it to others.

To Drk4: thanks for the link. Balanced all around. I think one of the causes for the sharp division between left and right is the increasing and accelerating pressure on labor. Humans compete with technology and capital seeks lowest costs. It's tough to work and we divide along lines of who or what should help, whether the help is in the form of tax, benefit, health care, education, and so on. Again, acknowledging the article's concerns, I read it with the following preconceptions (confession!). No company seeks to favor offshore jobs at the expense of American jobs. No company seeks to favor the south vis-a-via the north, the nonunion versus the union. Companies seek value. That is, companies seek the best outcome at the lowest cost. Human beings, machines, real estate, advertising -- same, same, same. No one offshore a jobs. Jobs offshore themselves when another set of human beings develops a capability/cost relationship superior to another's. We can criticize, demonize, and legislate, or we can compete and work. One approach is artificial and collapses, although it sounds compassionate. The other works, although it's accompanied by blood, sweat and tears. Humanity, beauty, hard. Lastly, there's no such thing as big business. Corporations are binders in law offices. Those offshoring are you, me, our neighbors, friends and relatives. We offshore every day when we get up and decide to invest In ourselves, or not. We offshore every day when we buy clothing, sneakers, food, cars. Own a Ford? You voted with your wallet to displace a Detroit factory worker with a Mesican robot. You also rewarded your 401(k) that owns the offshoring Ford stock. It's easier, of course, to tilt at big business and other windmills. Romney, the bastard. Look in a mirror.
