Then I believe you're being inconsistent with your logic. For example, if Murray knows he's tanking, and knows he's giving Nolan pretty much nothing to work with, how can Murray reasonably make a decision based on this season's outcome(s)? Also, if the idea is to accomplish a rebuild sooner rather than later, how does setting players and the team culture back even further than they already were help realize that goal? All that does is make the situation worse for any in-coming coach. That's the opposite of efficient.

If we're talking about Hodgson, then we have to remember that Hodgson has a prior history of not meshing with coaches...and we're talking well over a thousand miles away from Buffalo. I don't see how that fact can be removed or ignored in any conversation about him. Nolan said something to that effect the other day "players have to allow themselves to be coached...".

WHO IS HE GOING TO PUT OUT THERE TO "SOLVE THE ISSUE" (assuming the TBPhD has it right, and I don't disagree with the analysis)? What the hell, if he goes with scoring skill, which, on this team, is a highly questionable concept, then the goalie gets pummeled. So, he's taking the lower percentage option, right? Limit scoring against chances as much as possible and hope for some offensive luck. Either way, the team is going to lose the game, it's just a matter of how bad. If his mandate is to develop the locker-room, 5-2, 4-1, etc. blow-outs aren't going to help. At least if the scores are low, the games can be called "close".

If that were true, Nolan would be gone already. GMTM is like a kid hooked on trading cards - no way is he going to let anyone ruin them. Again, if Nolan were as bad as the recent drama on this board would have us believe, Nolan would be gone. Is there any doubt that GMTM acts when GMTM wants to act? I'm going to break forum decorum and talk about the tank. We're approximately 2/3 through the season and we all know the team is tanking. All season, the organization has dropped nuggets confirming so, yet officially denying it. The most recent stroke being the Myers/Kane trade. But here we are, folks are still fighting against it. I'm not saying you have to like it, I'm still conflicted personally, but I do suggest accepting it. I think the D is in good shape. To state the obvious, they just need scoring. Next season Reinhart and Kane will be there, probably McEichel. You have to figure they're going to add another forward somehow between now and September. So, one D man slot and four forwards. It could be good.

Saying he's like a Jason Pominville with 1/3rd the offense output is kind of offensive. Pominville, for how soft he was perceived here, was the epitome of a hard-working player who overcame whatever lack of skill he had through...hard work. Anyone who thinks this is what Hodgson is like is not paying attention in my opinion. Oh, and I don't want any player on this team who thinks it's okay for them to swing a stick lumberjack-style at any other player's legs and feet. Just say no to that. I also don't want a player here who seems to believe they're above meeting the physical requirements the rest of the team has to adhere to. Whatever, a team is a team.

They need to do it to coincide with the end of the rebuild. I think it could easily be accomplished if they set their collective minds to it. Ted, we know you stalk the forums, give this some serious though, okay?
