McKenzie speculates that Stamkos will end up in Buffalo
... replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Again, I think what's making the future part of this discussion difficult is the present. Presently, contender teams have active contracts from the old CBA. That makes it look like those shenanigans are still possible, when they aren't. And with the economies stagnant, at best, the cap isn't going to go up and allow for big, fat contracts. So either the players screwed themselves out of big pay-days, or the owners screwed themselves from assembling the teams they need to win, with this new CBA. -

I think TBphD makes a good point about Stamkos wanting Toews/Kane money, but not deserving it. If the $8.5m/8 year offer by Tampa is considered a low ball offer, then I don't think we should bother with him. -
Thank U linesman!

It's disgusting.

No way, we're going to score on ourselves.

I have a great idea for a Bylsma parody.

So, that's what you need to do to get Jack to play physical...take his stick away.

Are you clothed?

After that compelling segment, I believe I am on the side of taking him if the price is right. He is definitely not an at-all-costs acquisition. -
Man, this game is crazy.

Easy come, easy go.

Yay Kaner. He's a keeper.
-
That's saying a lot, right there.
-
Yay for the old guy!

I could swear Disco Dan said today the power play looked good.

Maybe this is a play by the Canadian media. Maybe they're tweaking us. -

It's not a question of too many centres, it's the reality of too few talented wingers. I think most people would agree that Jack Jack would have (a lot) more points if he had wingers who could finish. Giggle. -

What if Eichel matures enough next year to give us Stamkos-like numbers. Would the money going to Stamkos be better spent on a scoring winger and a decent upgrade on D? -

This, but there are even fewer teams with the cap space and COULD become contenders, and are also close to home. It makes sense. -
Hey man, it's okay. He's brittle. He will likely suffer more injuries. We've seen players like that...they usually miss a lot of the play-offs.

I hate to bring this up, but the top forwards we're talking about are all centres. There's something about using players correctly and all of that. One the of Jack/Samson/Ryan/Steven would have to always play a wing. Seems to me that when the centres we have are put in a centre role, they look better. Amirite? Add to that Ennis being a "natural" centre. Yikes. Ennis' contract isn't bad, though. If he were healthy, I think it'd be easy to move him. This stinks. The economies being weak are messing with the master plan. All teams are going to have a rough time once these old contracts from the last CBA age out. -

I was going to ask the same thing. You get Stamkos, you keep Jack and Samson. You also keep ROR and Risto. The rest, well...
