  1. From this: 52) Patrik Berglund Former NHL player Patrik Berglund, who walked out on the Buffalo Sabres in the middle of last season, is exploring a return the NHL. According to Fox Sports Midwest’s Andy Strickland, there are several interested teams.
  2. I think any rumour involving ERod and McCabe will be inaccurate at best, and more than likely fabrications from uninformed Twitternauts.
  3. A masterful look at last season and the Sabres' present situation. Very nice. I like the ERod love toward the end of the first video. All season ERod not only passed the stat test, but the eye test, and now that what I was seeing was compartmentalized, it's even more obvious his offer better have been a good one. I think this also put a stake in the heart of Phil's already dead coaching tenure and confirms some of the criticism he received by some about being too simplistic. It also confirms what we already knew stat and eye-test-wise, and that is our middle 6 is woefully lacking talent, or capability in lieu of talent. It's too bad RK will likely never see this, because he really, really needs to. It's also too bad that it's clear the Sabres organization seems to have missed all of this. The strategic habits ought to have been discerned by December and Phil ought to have tried to address it. If it weren't for the fact that the team's on-ice performance is his direct responsibility, I could excuse Botterill for not doing something with the roster mid-season because without changes to the coaching, what good would it have done? Of course, this off-season is where Botterill will have his chance to fix this mess. I agree, firing Phil, adding another decent D man, and signing Skinner are a start. The middle six needs some serious attention. RK, what a gamble, I hope he's smarter than dudes hanging out on a message board.
  4. He did get lifted off the ice on a hit. It's not like the injury came from eating popcorn.

  6. Born: February 2, 1995 (age 24 years), Salmon Arm, Canada Height: 6′ 1″ Center Drafted 2010, 1 #2 overall by Edmonton Oil Kings in the WHL Bantam Draft 2013 NHL Entry Draft: Ranked #17 by Future Considerations Played 2009-10 with the Pursuit of Excellence's bantam team as team captain and in 51 games, scored 57 goals and added 58 assists for 115 points. SCOUTING REPORT Has excellent two-way ability and a tremendous work rate. Owns plenty of character and usually plays much bigger than his below-average frame suggests. Can score key goals, too. Plays all three forward positions. Needs to become a more consistent point producer in the National Hockey League. Also needs to get stronger in order to play his abrasive style effectively at the highest level. Needs to also improve his setup skills. Long Range Potential:Quality, versatile two-way forward with some upside. More: https://thehockeywriters.com/curtis-lazar-the-next-ones-2013-nhl-draft-prospect-profile/
  7. As my grandmother would say..."God love him..."
  8. Oof. That thumb looks...not good.
  9. You don't have children?
  10. Don't damage the merchandise!
  11. DiPietro is an invite? Sign that boy.
  12. Kind of like what I'm seeing from Ruotsalainen, too.
  13. Same 'old Tage.
  14. Oh man, it's just dev camp, but I'm glad to be watching a little of this.
  15. Attendance looks light. Perhaps they should make tickets available to the general public.
  16. They're streaming stuff. This is the feed from Twitter: https://www.pscp.tv/w/1mrGmvREVrwJy You can also get a feed from the Sabres website, but the one off Twitter doesn't require Flash.
  17. I can't see how this is a rational thing to say given Miller's fancy stats and the Sabres' D last season.
  18. FWIW, Dahlin and McCabe hit. Nelson isn't too shy, either. And, apart from random games early in the season, teams don't seem to lay on the heavy until after Christmas. Bogo, if he's here, is likely to be off IR. Honestly, the odd man out seems to be Scandella. I think Botterill wants to try and move him, plus one of either Risto or Bogo. The latter two are almost a wash, at least on certain nights. Some nights last season Bogo actually looked good, but there's no way we keep him. McCabe is a stay-at-home D man, if that's what you mean. Whatever he signs for, he'll be cheaper than Risto.
  19. What's he worth, an eighth round pick?
  20. So, between @Hoss's write-up on the farm, the average age of the team, it makes me wonder if they're toying with the idea of going four drafts without a number one. Just a weird thought, not that I buy it. However, if they offer sheet Marner, say, they have the offensive talent and blue line to last 5 to 6 seasons - right? It could be conceivable, though a risky gamble. Just one Cup and we're good for another decade. Thinking about it further, if Botterill were confident in RK, that would tip the scales on a move like that. If he believed in RK, it would make the move far less risky.
  21. As a defender on an organized team that utilizes strategies, positioning and game fundamentals, he's not good. The only reason to keep him is that he has raw, untamed talent which you think putting on the second line will make tamable. I don't know.
  22. So glad to have you back around. The logic here almost excuses wanting Risto to stay. I'm in the big, 2C or finishing winger trade camp, though. I think one of our "valuable" D gets moved for some offense. Botterill does indeed seem intent on roster surgery. There's at least one too many D men, now.
  23. Hmmm. Without Tage, even, you make it seem like the pipeline is stocked pretty well.
  24. What if the quarter they find winds up being a 1870 CC Liberty Seated Quarter?
