  1. Curious, is there a reason to go off like this and go with the name calling? Are you including Leino because he's a Finn? Wouldn't Ristolainen have had more influence on Armia than Leino could have ever hoped? You hear one rumor and this is your response? Fantastic.

I'm fairly certain the post was 100% sarcasm.

Hard to tell sometimes with people on here loving to bash things.

K9 has always shown himself to be one of the more level-headed posters on this board.

Just assumed people would know I was being totally sarcastic. Sorry that wasn't clear.

Thanks for getting my back here, Shrader. Much appreciated. It's easy get your tit in a ringer around here sometimes.

    GO SABRES!!!

  2. Armia not on the ice for warmups…there were some rumblings today that he is very unhappy in Rochester and is homesick…and he either wants to be traded or getting playing time on the Sabres and is considering moving back to Finland. Don't know how true any of this is as the link provided was in finnish

Another homesick Euro-pu$$y. I wonder how much Leino's experience influenced his feelings about the organization. Compare this to Girgs, a European that embraces the challenge. Sure, he's been in the States longer and has had more of a chance to get acclimated, but still. Maybe Teppo can calm his Finnish-a$$ down before he has a full-blown panic attack. Would suck to lose that high a pick before he had a chance.

  3. I don't doubt his dedication or his efforts, both on and off the rink.

I also don't doubt his sincerity.

He knows he's a 5-7 guy. Talent aside, It burns more for a guy busting his ass for his 14 min when the guy mailing it in is getting 22.

Sorry X, but Weber's statement rings hollow to me.

I agree with everything you said, though.

    GO SABRES!!!

  4. That is a loser's comment if I ever heard one. Oh, NOW you're gonna get serious? Really? Ooooh, watch out Mike Weber is gonna get serious about being a hockey player now. Laughable. I doubt Weber even makes the squad.

    GO SABRES!!!

  5. Otter now has the WORST plus/minus in the NHL. He's 5 ahead of even Weber.

And it seems odd they were resting Ryan Miller again. They just sat him in the Buffalo game a few days before. It's not like they were playing a bottom rung team like the current Sabres - the Hawks are top-shelf.

He played Saturday. Miller won't see too many back to back games.

    GO SABRES!!!

  6. Fine by me as long as they make it to give the Sabres their 2014 1st round pick.

I believe MIller has to play at least 50% of the time in the first two rounds, so if they ride Elliot to the WCF, it means we don't get their first this year.

    GO SABRES!!!

  7. Caller to WGR was happy about the Mike Williams "signing"...sigh

Was this guy one of my dads friends?

This was followed by Sal Capaccio calling EJ Manuel the Bills first overall pick last year.

There is only one first overall pick each year.

But he was the Bills' first overall pick last year. Was Sal confusing that with the first overall selection of the entire draft?

  8. Is it really about the tv market in LA or is it more about they money they're going to draw in from corporate interests and the luxury boxes in any stadium out there?

It's ALL about the new owner deriving revenue from those corporate interests, luxury boxes, and more disposable entertainment dollars in the region.

My only point is that LA as a big TV market is and never has been the driver behind the NFL putting a team there. Viewership has been riding a crest since LA lost their last team. LA is valuable to the other owners because the value of a team there will increase the value of all franchises.

    GO BILLS!!!

  9. LA does not care about football. They just don't.

Toronto would need a new stadium, as well.

Looking at all the TV markets, Buffalo is 52 (I never realized that New Orleans was the same size as Buffalo at 51). Almost every one either already has an NFL team or is close enough one to be fans of those teams. Others are NASCAR cities. If you remove LA (which I would) there really aren't that many cities that would support an NFL team like Buffalo.

I would think Jacksonville would move before the Bills.

Not when you factor in the ENTIRE viewing region. Indeed, when including Toronto and Southern Ontario, it's the 4th largest TV market in North America. The problem is translating Canadian TV viewership into ad dollars large enough to be chased.

  10. Those big TV "eyeballs" are a double-edged sword in L.A. The Rams and Raiders often placed THIRD in their timeslots on Sunday afternoons. When you draw less viewers than reruns of 'Gilligan's Island', you have a problem with local affiliates in huge TV markets. The NFL can't leverage a large TV market in LA as much as some think.

  11. 4 years....

    4 trade deadlines...

1 month away from 4th season...

3 months away from 4th draft....

    Please Retract....

February 18, 2011 - March 23, 2014 is not 4 years. Perhaps you're confusing chronological time with the number of events that can occur within it.

    Does it really matter?

  12. Has there been anything whatsoever to suggest that PLF left because of TP's "meddling?" Any rumors? Innuendo? Anything other than your sheer speculation?

For that matter, if PLF were still here, would there be any unease about TP, in light of him having jettisoned Darcy, brought back Nolan, signed off on Murray and Patrick and allowed Murray to implement the tank? I didn't see TP pushing to make any trades or other hockey moves designed to get the team into the playoffs this year -- did you? Or for that matter did you see him pushing any hockey moves of any kind?

No. You didn't. You saw him bringing in Battista, whom many here have decided is Lucifer's nephew, and pushing some kind of nutrition program (after it came out a few months ago that Dwight Howard was eating the equivalent of 30 candy bars a day or something like that).

    Whoop-de-dam-do.

He's also poured money into both this team and this benighted city, when literally no one else has been willing to do so -- probably because both are economically irrational moves. How's that for "meddling?" Or do you still see some kind of sinister plot afoot?

The team stinks. TP took over and gave DR plenty of rope, and DR hung himself with it, along with the rest of us. After enough time had gone by, TP decided to make a change and did so. His process for doing so included bringing in a good hockey person from outside his inner circle -- which is exactly what you wanted him to do. That's what a good boss does.

Then PLF left and none of us knows exactly why, although it seems pretty likely that PLF contributed to the circumstances that led to his departure. Clearly nobody is happy that PLF left. It makes us uneasy and concerned that we are dealing with a James Dolan or a Dan Snyder here and not a Mike Illitch. That's understandable. But other than PLF's second hair-trigger resignation of a senior role with an NHL team, there isn't a GD thing to suggest that TP might be anything less than a gift from heaven to Sabres fans.

We all want a winning team. It's going to take some time. That's just life.

Outstanding take on the entirety of the situation.

    GO SABRES!!!
